Maintenance & Trueforge Skills?

So I've found that these skills are worthless unless you decide to be a weapon/armorsmith crafter ontop of everything else. If you want to be a bowyer, alchemist, or tailor and not do weapon/armorsmithing you're completely fucked out of these skills.

Trueforge Weapon Skill raises the max durability not only on Melee weapons, but on Bows and Staves as well. This skill requires 75 weaponsmithing and only weaponsmithing to buy. Yet this skill effects every single weapon skill in the game. So, for an Alchemist or a Bowyer to benefit from this skill, they are required to waste their time and money getting 75 weaponsmithing first. This is absurd.

I'm also assuming this works the same way with Trueforge Armor and Tailoring Bone Armor, but I haven't confirmed that.

To have a Skill like Trueforge that benefits many crafting skills yet make it have a restricted requirement to only one of these crafting skills makes absolutely no sense.

Now the Maintenance skill. For those of you who do not know what this skill is, it's a COMBAT skill. It is listed under the COMBAT tab in the skills tab ingame. The exact definition of the skill ingame reads, "Reduces your equipment's durability loss from combat."

We already have a durability skill effected by crafting right? Yes I just bitched about that, those are the Trueforge skills which increase the maximum Durability. Those are obviously crafting skills, listed in the crafting tab, and level up from crafting.

So lets see, Maintenance is a combat skill, is in the combat tab, and levels up by ----wait CRAFTING? The only way to level Maintenance is by the crafts Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing as well. This skill is completely broken and there is no way that's how it should work. Again this is a skill that will effect every single weapon and armor you use in this game on your character yet it is restricted to level up ONLY if you craft Weaponsmithing or Armorsmithing. This doesn't even make any logical sense. You don't learn how to use a weapon and armor more properly (slowing durability use) but crafting them. You learn this by USING them, by fighting in combat, not by hiding in a blacksmiths house making them.

I bought this skill and read its definition before buying. It said it was a combat skill, it's listed as a combat skill, but levels up as a crafting skill.

I personally am not a Weaponsmith or Armorsmith in this game, especially since my clan already has numerous ones and I have no benefit spending resources on leveling it. I find it absurd to have to level up Weaponsmithing to 75 in order to make my Bows from Bowyer to have more durability. That would be the only purpose I would ever level weaponsmithing.

Also, if we have to accept Maintenace as leveling only with crafting it still is broken. I can't understand how making weapons with only the skill weaponsmithing and not weapons with Alchemy or Bowyer should be acceptable. Are Bows and Staves not weapons too?

Think about the repercussions later on down the road. I rolled Elf to master Bowyer and eventually make Sunbows. Now what happens when an elf that is a fulltime crafter has weaponsmithing ontop of their Bowyer and they are selling BETTER sunbows than me because of their UNRELEATED skill of Weaponsmithing which got them the Trueforge Weapon skill. I'm not a fulltime crafter that is going to max out every single crafting skill, but if I'm going to put in enough effort to completely max out a certain skill I should get the same benefits as the other.

At the very least these skills should have said they only level from weapon and armorsmithing. But I'm assuming they are broken and their intentions were supposed to level by all crafts that make weapons and armor, while the Maintenance skill is supposed to level IN COMBAT and not through crafting.

Some old information. Trueforges need 40 wis at the moment. Bought it myself.
Maintenance - yeah, can't level it in combat, only with craft.
Same way with Survivalist, when you're lvling it not by eating food but crafting.

People are looking at it wrong. I think it is working as intended.

I am a lowly crafter, and not a fighter. My bonus in the fighting realm (since it is a fighting game) is that my armor lasts longer.

I think it is NOT broken. It is a bonus for crafters.

I believe it should level up both with crafting and fighting... you shouldn't punish the person using the armor, nor should you punish the person creating the armor.

...And we will strike down upon those of Darkness, with great vengeance and Furious Anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

THen it needs to be purchases as a CRAFTING ability not a FIGHTING ability.  I bought the damn thing thinking the more I was in comabt the more the skill would raise up and the less durability hits my armor would take.

Of course since I don't craft armor I just wasted 500 Gold and what is now worthless to me.

Go ahead, make my day.
