Batman: The Dark Knight Rises [Batman 3]
« on: January 19, 2011, 04:30:23 pm »
Through a press release today it is confirmed that:

Tom Hardy (Inception and Bronson star) will play 'Bane' and that Anne Hathaway will play 'Catwoman'. Excited about Bane (Tom Hardy is my favourite actor) but am laying closer to a 'Nay' for Anne Hathaway as Catwoman (or Catwoman in general as a villain, but in Nolan we trust.

DISCUSS.

Well, in my mind so far Nolan is 2 for 2, though I wish he had saved Twoface for a more major villain role.  I'mm wait to see how this turns out :)

I was never a big fan of Catwoman, but I do love me some Bane (he broke Batman's back, that's totally badass!).  I do so hope Nolan keeps up his track record of awesome movies; Batman deserves it.

I trust Nolan, but I too am skeptical of both villains in general. As a matter of fact I recall him saying he wouldn't use Catwoman a long time ago, like before Dark Knight. But, again, I trust him.

I've always felt that catwoman was  created to pander to female viewers and to adolescent boys and really brought nothing to the development of the franchise

In Nolan we trust

Indeed, he knows what's at stake and given his track record he will deliver the sweet goods. I'm hoping he's got another character up his sleeve that hasn't been mentioned, but that's just illogical.

Rumor has it Catwoman will be filling the void that the now fugitive Batman is leaving, so while a villian she may not be all out.

Personally I've always wanted to see them do the Frank Miller Dark Knight Returns graphic novel....

And of course the Kingdom Come Graphic novel into a movie would be good as well.

Go ahead, make my day.

That would be awesome. I love that one, and I would love to see it in movie form, but they would definitely have to do it right. I'm always trying to think of someone to play batman, and I want someone who's like a combination between Clint Eastwood and Stephen Lang

Well, Im not going to lie.. my bet was on Catwoman and the Riddler....... I figured they would bring catwoman in as a love interest now that whats her face is gone... Batman needs his heart healed and a reason to keep fighting the good fight..

Since the 1990s, Catwoman has been featured in an eponymous series that cast her as an antihero rather than a supervillain. The character has been one of Batman's most enduring love interests.

I 'spose the anti-hero side would be kinda cool; but I'd rather just the love interest and Batman's struggle to cope with the fact that he has to bring her to justice.

Bane - NEEDS - to injure batman badly in someway for CW to become the temporary hero (or dare I say... Robin/Nightwing?)

No no no no, don't ever say Robin or Nightwing... ever.

Christopher Nolan is on record many times that they will NEVER make an appearance in his take on Gotham.

Anyway, another actress, not yet announced, is supposedly being cast as Bruce's love interest, so I wonder if there will be dueling ladies. One for Bruce and one for Batman. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing Nolan's take on Bane, since I sincerely doubt he's going to make him a Hulk-like freak when filled with Venom. Nolan's all about the theoretically real.

Also, I wonder how these 2 villains can help bring this tale of Batman to its conclusion. I felt Riddler would have been a much stronger foe to bring Batman's journey to an end.

Am I the only one who believes Rachel is still alive?  I've watched the scene tons of times, and you never actually see her die.  Nolan is very good at showing only what he wants the audience to see in order to get them thinking down a certain path.  Every scene is shot with this in mind.  The Joker was a master of fucking with people's heads, so it makes perfect sense that he would trick Batman into thinking Rachel was dead.

In fact, that's probably why he gave Batman the opposite addresses of where Harvey and Rachel were.  Knowing Batman would choose to save Rachel, but finding Harvey in the building he thinks he's inadvertently killed Rachel, thus breaking him completely, leaving Joker to burn Gotham to the ground.
