Support / Computer on last legs...
« on: March 02, 2012, 03:54:04 am »
Alas, my mainboard is on the way out... for the last week I haven't had sound and haven't been able to resolve the issue through codecs/drivers/reinstallation. NIC has been gone for a long time, but have been living on wireless. Needles to say,  I haven't had a chance to play....

Time for a new one, and maybe some other parts too.
Was considering:
    > Intel i5 2500 (possible "k", but really I dn't need OC anymore...).
    > Patriot Memory 8GB (2 x 4GB) Viper Xtreme Series PC3-15000 1866MHz CL9 (Do I really need 16GB, I don't do anything except gaming at home on this machine - all other activities are at work).

The only hangup, and essential part, is the mainboard.
Considering I'm not OCing, would you consider the H67 to do the job? I was previously thinking P67 minimum, but now thinking the Z68 or even the Ivy Bridge just for future, but to be honest I am less likely to upgrade again any time soon. Grrr... used to be I needed the top notch stuff. I don't think it matters to me any more as much as the extra cash in my pocket.

Also I'm thinking mATX to try and stuff it all into a smaller case (my home setup isn't the same since having kids... my office has been taken over by toys, and I'm now moved more into the living room). A smaller case would allow me to stuff the machine into a cupboard rather than having the hulking mass that currently sits beside the sofa. Smaller case also gives cooling issues of course.

« on: January 19, 2012, 05:25:47 am »
Just a note that the flash website that the outside world will see contains a link to the old SWTOR GUILD page, that no longer exists.

Instead it goes to a "page not found".

This is the top left part of the flash.
Just a note!

Non-VR Games / Assisting those in need (being "griefed", etc)
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:24:40 am »
EDIT:

That'll teach me to post without catching up on other posts first. This would come under the topic of "CODE FURY" I guess... which details are still to be worked out (mentioned under http://thefuriousangels.com/index.php?msg=114465)...

-----------------------------------------------------------

This is just a quick post to gather our thoughts on the direction of FA in regards to other Republic members (guilded or otherwise).

The other night on Tatooine, there was chatter in the general channel regarding a level 50 imp who was camping the datacron on the balloon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD4Q3ObBlZA). I (lvl 39 at the time) was on Tatooine, and there was another FA-er (lvl 29) elsewhere on the planet.

With my experience on the issue, it would be very difficult for the two of us to team up against the lvl 50... and so a shout went out on Guild chat to see what could be done.

Now, please note that this is not a complaint that we didn't respond. I understand we can't respond to all instances of this, and I don't expect us to. Especially when others are on a different planet, have to QT (or run) back to the spaceport, get on your ship, hyperjump to Tatooine, get down to the planet, then taxi and run to the problem area. This takes a lot of time.

Unlike MxO where it was a lot easier (IMO) to get from hardline to hardline, we do face a problem in getting around quickly around the universe. In MxO it was very easy for us to gather against problem users, and in turn gave FA a very very good name in the game. We were THE "go to" people for assitance.

So I was curious in what direction FA can take this, in the huge universe of SWTOR, so that we can build up our name like in MxO. Ideally, it would have been great for us to gather against the shout that went out on Tatooine... but how can we effectively do that? How can we decide what areas we can reach if a call does go out?

I know we are all busy in game, but quests do eventually get completed and WZ's finish very quickly, in general... but I know we all want to get to 50!!

Again, I want to point out this isn't a complaint that we didn't respond to the Tatooine call... I just want to try and capture what we had in MxO if possible (or at least ask if that's what we ARE wanting to do)... and how we can accomplish that effectively.

Non-VR Games / 20th - Promoting FA on opening day.
« on: December 19, 2011, 03:46:07 am »
Hey folks.

So just a thought.
I guess on the 20th we are gonna see the servers fill up some more and a big influx of those who haven't pre-ordered.

Just a suggestion here that could be worked on:
Some higher level guys sit on starting worlds (Tython, Ord Mantell) giving away free [crafted] stuff to lowbies. Could sit around the vendors spamming local area chat "Free Blasters! Furious Giveaway! Freshly pressed armor for your levelling needs! All free of charge".

Since most of us will be crafting general garbage at times, just to increase our stats, instead of selling them for pennies, put them towards faction recruitment!

EVen if we don't actually recruit with the giveaway, it certainly shows our presence (how about seeing a lvl 35 guy giving you a free weapon you can use at lvl 1 on your first day playing?). It could be very good for the faction.

Yeah, I'm sure that nobody wants to sit around on Tython doing basically nothing when they could be levelling... at least I can do that from work (can't really level at work).

Non-VR Games / Planet Maps
« on: December 15, 2011, 10:18:54 am »
Hey folks.

Was curious if anyone knew of any sites that have the basic world maps (not galaxy map)? This would be very handy for future tools...

I'm running smuggler, so can do a screen dump of the areas I go to... perhaps we should start a collection that we can manipulate (i.e. add all data points/coords)?

I kinda hoped that it would be up somewhere already...

Non-VR Games / SWTOR RSS feed for in-game details?
« on: December 09, 2011, 05:46:58 am »
Any one know if SWTOR has a RSS feed for "in-game" details:
i.e.:

> List of current players on a particular server.
> Player stats (for example what level).
> Faction stats (i.e. what players are in faction).

I guess it's unlikely, but would be very handy if we could add the feed in as a tool on the site. I don't see any problems in doing this, so something to suggest to BW?

Thought I would check the here first in case someone saw a post related to this.

Support / Countdown - Script running slowly
« on: October 06, 2011, 07:00:39 am »
Hey,

Could just be me but thought I would report:
The new countdown clock seems to be stalling the website for me on every page I visit. Get the Flash 10 Player message:

Quote
A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?  Yes / No

I'm running IE8 at work on Win 7 Enterprise.

Non-VR Games / Strategy Guides for Classes etc
« on: August 16, 2011, 05:35:07 am »
Just a quick post to suggest we should get strat guides together on how to level characters etc as effeciently as posssible.

Of course, almost impossible to put a guide together at the moment since not many have had a chance to experience the game, but something to be noted when we all get in.

Would help any newcomers I'm sure.

General / Praelium Order - Weekly check-ins/meetings?
« on: July 27, 2011, 04:43:09 pm »
Just a quick thread for Euro's to consider:

Should we be thinking about some sort of weekly meetings, etc, just for us?? Considering our time zone, we rarely get a chance to get in on the Monday meeting (would be around 3am my time).

Although there may be minimal business to discuss (although always nice to hear what has been raised in normal FA meetings so we can keep up), it might be a chance to get us used to being online together pre-release.

There may not be a real "need"... but I think it will help bring the crew together a bit more so we are ready to roll.

Non-VR Games / SW:TOR Website maintenance
« on: July 13, 2011, 08:16:28 am »
So, the SW:TOR website has been down for quite a few hours now.
As website maintenance goes, this seems like quite a while. I have no idea if this is a regular occurrence but, if it is not, it might suggest something nice going on in the background.

I can understand game servers being down for a prolonged period, but website servers? I wonder if anyone in beta could possible say if the game servers are down as well (assuming they are not up only for specific periods anyway)... it might indicate that they are linking something in game to the website in some way?

Of course if this is a regular occurrence, then just ignore me.
