I wish that I had had champagne. Our entire family just stayed home. My mom went to bed before midnight, but said that I could drink champagne (and to finish off the entire bottle as it would otherwise go bad), but I figured we'd save it so we could all enjoy it.

I stayed sober.

Oh Ana!  You never save champagne!  It's a well known fact that unless you drink it within minutes of opening it goes terribly sour.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sorry; I gave a poor explanation.

My mom said that IF we had opened the bottle, we had to drink it all that night (and its no fun drinking by yourself!). Instead, we did NOT open the bottle so that we could save it for another time.
