Ok, I got all my parts in and have started building! Waiting on Dago for most of it, though, as he has my thermal paste and I'm paranoid about messing something up!

You do know that Radio Shack sells thermal paste right?

Video card isn't working. After a lot of fuss, I got it working for 15 minutes and then went out for good. First issue I had was I had to plug a fan into the card even though I was using a different fan. Second problem was my pump was unplugged so it was shutting itself off from overheating. This new problem - I have no idea. When I went to take the card out again, I did notice that the pump had come unplugged at some point. I'm not sure if this happened while I was trying to pull the card in or when I put the case back on.

I've tried about everything. I don't know what to do. The card was working for a few minutes. Is it possible to burn out the gpu that fast? Someone help!

Upgrading a bit again as I've been hitting CPU bottlenecks recently.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard: ASRock X570M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3000

A problem I see coming is that my cooler (H55) doesn't fit the AM4 chipset. There's a bracket you can get, but it appears to not be in stock anywhere. The Ryzen 3600 does come with its own cooler, but it's apparently a bit noisy. Can't find this bracket: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-%7C-Parts/PC-Components/Cooling/AM4-AMD-Retention-Bracket-Kit-for-Hydro-Series%E2%84%A2-Coolers/p/CW-8960046

Hopefully replacing the mobo and cpu isn't that complicated. It's been a while since I attempted this. Do I need thermal paste again?

Yes, always use arctic silver 5. Remove any old paste with a dab of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. Apply a small dot of compound and spread to a thin layer with an expired credit or business card.

Build didn't last. Started doing a reboot loop in less than 24 hours. RMA'd the motherboard. Getting reboot with new motherboard. RMAing the CPU now. If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas...Tested new RAM and it's fine.

Long awaited update! For my 2019 build I was able to boot by messing with voltage settings in the bios, but I never could get it completely stable - especially when I upgraded my GPU to a 3080 in 2020. Finally now in 2022 I've upgraded my CPU, motherboard, and RAM again. I also got a new case, PSU, and cooler so...basically a new rig.

2022 System:

Motherboard: MSI Pro z690-a DDR4
CPU: Intel 13600k
Cooler: ID Cooling Frostflow x240 (liquid cooler)
GPU: Zotac 3800 Trinity
RAM: Teamforce 16x2 3200mhz DDR4
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow
PSU: MSI MPG A850 GF Gaming
Drives: 500GB m.2, 250GB and 1TB SSD, 4TB HDD
PCIe: Anker USB 3.0 expansion card, OKN Wifi 6E AX5400

I do a lot more work on my PC now, and this rig is great at both gaming and as a workstation!
