Title: Defiance

My brother convinced me to check this out with him. I hadn't looked at it before because it costs money, but now it's free to play. I'm enjoying myself quite a bit. To sum it up, it feels like a Borderlands MMO. The combat is surprisingly responsive. Headshots are easy to obtain. The guns are very balanced.

The game has main missions and season missions. The season missions tie into the TV series Defiance, which I haven't started watching (I hear it's so-so). There's also a lot of side missions. There's also group activities that are easy to jump in and out of. Many of the missions take place in areas where others can jump right in and participate. Arkfalls are larger events that offer nice rewards.

The main story is moderately interesting. The combat is a lot of fun. You get a car/buggy to drive around in as well, so getting around is easy. I haven't messed with the PvP and co-op missions yet (I think co-op is their version of raids).

Anyway, it's free, so let me know if you check it out. The only limitations I've seen so far is inventory space and "key" space (you trade in keys for lockboxes, so the top tier lockbox isn't accessible).

I think it's all the same but you may be able to specify North America. In the social menu though, you can select to go to a friend. So if you happen to be a different instance or server, you can still always join them.

I'm pretty sure it does the automatic instancing thing where there may be dozens of versions and it throws you into a random one. Zero is right, though. It's easy to "go to a friend". Not only does it put you in the same instance but also teleports you straight to them. Hooray easy group play! There's also level scaling and the like so I don't believe playing with someone lower and higher level (EGO rating) than you hurts either one of you.
