News Story: Patch 2.0.1 Delayed

Zooey: And bring us this live report is our very own HK droid.  HK, what did the Bioware Corporation release today?

HK-51: I'm sorry master, but I have terrible information for you.  I will attempt to repeat it exactly.

HK-51: Recitation:
Quote
||Eric Musco's Voice|| Hey everyone,

I wanted to give all of you a heads up that our maintenance will no longer be happening tomorrow morning (April 23rd) as mentioned above. We have discovered a pretty mean bug with Game Update 2.0.1 and we want to make sure that is addressed before we go live with that update.

We will give you more information about when Game Update 2.0.1 will go live as soon as we have it!
Recording (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=6192840#edit6192840)

Zooey: I see. What do you make of it, HK?

HK-51: Conjecture: It appears Bioware doesn't want to fix slicing or anything else at the moment.  We appear to be on our own.

HK-51: Surmisal: Perhaps next week can get patched.

Zooey: That's terrible news out of the Bioware Quality Control Headquarters on Tatooine.  We'll have more after this...

Patch 2.0.1 Delay Explained

Zooey:  This just in, Angels.  I am being told by a source inside Bioware that the patch delay is do to a defective UI setting.

Quote
||Reads Quote from Eric Musco||
I got the all clear to explain to all of you what the bug we encountered was to hopefully give some visibility into our decision. What we encountered was a user interface bug where buffs and debuffs were no longer displaying any form of graphical countdown to show their duration. AKA that little white overlay which disappears slowly as an ability is timing out was gone.

I know at first glance that might sound really minor, but think about it during your actual gameplay. Any class which has a DoT, HoT, debuff, buff, or proc that has a duration would no longer be able to "at-a-glance" see how long was remaining on that skill.

When looking at this bug we felt that it would make some Classes, especially those based around DoTs and HoTs very difficult to play. The last thing we want to do is introduce a bug which, for a subset of entire Advanced Classes, makes the game frustrating to play. Because of this we opted to push this Game Update until we could work on correcting the bug.

I hope that gives you all a bit of insight into the bug and our decision to delay the patch.

Hutt Cartel Prepares Vice Commandant's Cartel Pack for Release

Zooey:  In other news, we move from the sands of Tatooine to the manufacturing centers on Hutta where the Hutt Cartel has prepared to release a brand new Marketing pack.  For this, we move to our Cartel Correspondent, Dulfy Avienne.  Dulfy?

Lightsaber Crystals from the Vice Commandant's Pack

Dulfy: Yes, Zooey, the hutts are extremely happy in this new set.  They have secured a select variety of lightsaber crystals as well as new armaments and armors.  There are many more listed in this Cartel Pack invoice (http://dulfy.net/2013/04/22/swtor-vice-commandants-contraband-pack/).  With the large variety of the Vice Commandant's pack, the Cartel project massive profits for this fiscal quarter.  Back to you, Zooey.

Zooey: Thanks, Dulfy. This new release marks the second release of what the Hutt Cartel refers to as "Shipment Two", and the Cartel's first release after the Makeb incident.

Zooey: As always we keep up with the news, so you don't have to...  Angels, good night.

Holonet Frequencies Compromised

Zooey: Good afternoon, angels.  This is Zoastria Tantalon for the Tantalon News Report.

Zooey: It has come to the attention of this broadcast that the holonet communication system has been compromised due to recent maintenance.  Reports from early this morning indicate that holonet messages are now routed to third parties within the network.  Bowdarr has the report.

Bowdarr: ||Shyriiwook|| Roooarrgh ur roo.  Mu hu mwa gaa.

Zooey: I'm sorry, Bowdarr, we are having technical difficulties.  Namely, translation.  HK, can you translate?

HK-51: Proud Admission: Of course, master.

HK-51: Translation: I have a bad feeling about this.  I cannot talk on the comlink right now.

Zooey: Remind me to send you next time, HK.  As our reporter is unavailable for the story...

Zooey: The intergalactic holonetwork communicaiton system known to some in the trade as Whisper recently received a major overhaul within the past week.  An unfortunate or purposely designed feature of the new system passes holonet texts to alternative users on the account provided they are of similar political alliance.  Some have raised concerns of security on the matter.  This reporter for one really doesn't mind this update (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=6202816#edit6202816).

Zooey: As always we keep up with the news, so you don't have to... Angels, good night.

Cathar Enslaved During Cartel Maneuvering

Zooey: We have grave news tonight for Cathar across the galaxy.  Your homeworld is currently under occupation by the Hutt Cartel.

Zooey: That's correct in this hour of crisis, we turn to resistance member Aric Jorgan on the ground on Cathar.  Aric?

||Feed Shakes and the sound of Blaster Fire booms through the holo||

Zooey: Aric, are you there?

Aric:  Sorry, Zooey.  Yeah, it has been a tough first day here on Cathar.  The jungles offer some cover but the Cartel's trandoshan hunters are merciless.

Zooey: I'm sorry, Aric, but at this time do you have any information behind this cartel action?

Aric: Yeah, I saw droids transporting prisoners to containment camps for processing, probably as slaves.

Zooey: So what is the resistance's plan of action?

Aric: The free Cathar, as a people, are split.  Some see the Empire as a solution to this madness, others respect the Republic's promise of aide.  I would say look to see more Cathar on the offensive fairly soon (http://dulfy.net/2013/04/26/swtor-cathar-species-coming-in-game-update-2-1/).

Zooey: Stay safe out their, Lt. Jorgan.  Our hearts and prayers go out to the Cathar people tonight.

Zooey: As always we keep up with the news, so you don't have to... Angels, good night.

2.1 Customization

Zooey: From the devastation on Cathar, we now take you to Sliven Tech Industries new fashion announcement.  Risha?

Risha: Hi, there.  I am live at Sliven Tech Industries VIP early access exhibition and may I tell you, Zooey, this is a fashion girl's dream.

Risha: Earlier today, Sliven Tech announced (http://swtor-rp.com/home/m/1639454/article/1444940) a new automatic full form dying system that works for any material.  They're are currently conflicting reports (http://dulfy.net/2013/04/26/swtor-armor-dyes-and-appearance-designer-kiosk-details/) on whether the hutt cartel will be absorbing this product into their new line or not.  This girl, for one, hopes not.  Back to you, Zooey.

Zooey: This announced alongside the new surgical re-sculpting procedure dubbed the Appearance Designer, guaranteed to remove scars and redesign hair.  This feature promised to make all previous barber shops obsolete.

Zooey: As always we keep up with the news, so you don't have to... Angels, good night.

2.1 Customization Features Q&A

Zooey: Continuing our coverage of Sliven Tech's dying system, we have some more coverage fresh from Nar Shadaa.  Risha has the story.

Risha:  Thanks, Zooey.

Risha: Attention all you Artificers out there. Are you tired of digging through rocks and relics?  Yes?  Up to your elbows in dust?  Want to join the fashion industry, but don't think you have the skill set?  Well I got news (http://dulfy.net/2013/05/01/swtor-patch-2-1-dyes-modules-qa-with-bioware/) for you, you have enough skill to now make the special Sliven Tech dyes.  Feeling lucky?  Don't worry, you'll get your chance real soon.

Zooey: Risha any word on when these items will be released to consumers?

Risha: There's no word yet out of Sliven Tech. But trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

Zooey: That's was Risha with a continuing update on the fashion market.

Zooey: As always at the Tantalon News Network, we keep up with the news, so you don't have to... Angels, good night.
Title: Smuggler Rolls = Warzone Bugs
Post by: Zooey on May 08, 2013, 04:51:27 pm
Rolling, Ducking, and You

Zooey: Good evening, Angels.  The News Tonight: We have a wonderful interest story for smugglers across the galaxy.  Then, Risha will share her latest on the fashion market.  After that, we have a Public Safety Announcement from the Pet Enthusiasts Association.  But first...

Zooey:  Smugglers across the galaxy have died in many of the Republic's warzones along the front.  In several of combat recordings, they have complained of being stuck or unable to move in a some form of paralysis (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=6264165#edit6264165) after being revived.  Doctor Guss Tuno has more...

Guss: Yes... the problam lies with da Republec's new parkor training for its Smugglers.  It seems dat da rolling manoover that Smuggler is proan to implament in da battlefield is resulting in this paralysis.  Death or being rooted during the roll results in full paralusis of da subject.

Zooey: Guss, are you okay?  You sound a little different.

Guss: Dry mouth.

Zooey: From the Republic Medical Services to the fashion and flare capitol of Nar Shadaa. Risha, are you there?

Risha: Of course, Zooey.  Where else would I be?  Just moments ago, Amber Green let slip (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=6264976#edit6264976) when the new fashions will be released to the public!  The date is set for May 14th.  Woo!  The crowds have been ecstatic ever since the announcement.  Between the new dyes and the additional Cartel items, being your own person is now easier than ever.

Zooey: That's great news, Risha.  Thank you for that report.

Title: The Summer of Star Wars?

Republic War Effort in a Three Month Glance

Zooey: The follow up interview (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=643138) with Republic strategic analyst Bruce Maclean sheds light on the Republics response to this new intelligence:

Quote
My name is Bruce Maclean and I am a Senior Producer here at BioWare Austin. I know there have been a lot of questions around the forums about what kind of content you can expect from us this year and so I'm here today to give you all a bit of information about what we're working on bringing to you this summer!

First up, Game Update 2.2, which is currently targeted for launch on June 11th:
Nightmare Mode Terror From Beyond. It's got vicious new mechanics and is definitely not for the faint of heart. I'm very excited for you to see the new gear that comes with this, which uses a new appearance system we've developed for armor and weapons called 'Scrolling UVs'.

New Guild Bonuses! Players in guilds currently receive a +5% experience bonus, but now every 5 active players in the guild will add an additional 1% bonus to XP and reputation, up to a maximum bonus of 10% each.

Crafters can now craft Underworld gear! But don't RE that piece if you are still using it...

Unified fleet chat channel for each faction, for easier group finding without having to hop between instances.
We've seen a lot of requests for a rerun of our Double XP weekends. Well, okay! We'd like to help you stay cool in the heat of the summer with three weekends starting June 22nd and continuing through July 7th. The third and last weekend will actually start early on Thursday the 4th of July, in case you are enjoying a long Independence Day weekend.

By July 9th Ops groups will have had four weeks to cut their teeth on Nightmare Mode Terror From Beyond. That's when we will launch Nightmare Mode Scum and Villainy as a part of Game Update 2.2.2! New mechanics and unique loot for you.

July 23rd look for a return of the Relics of the Gree Event for a nice two week long run. Per community request the Event will scaled up to level 55 on this next run!

August 6th is our target date for Game Update 2.3, which we are working on right now and will be our biggest update since 2.0. Some of the bigger parts of this update are:
      New Flashpoints

      New Daily Area

      New Recurring Event

      Significant graphical upgrades

This isn't an exhaustive list, and we are also working on some longer term stuff. Sometimes we have been averse to discussing specific dates well in advance, because we aren't going to release anything unless we feel it is ready to go live and we don't want to upset folks if we move a date back. Well I think we should just tell you what date the teams are shooting for, and if we don't hit them we'll just tell you why. Radical thinking, I know. As we get closer we'll have a lot more juicy details on these - keep your eyes peeled to the forums and SWTOR.com for more information. Also, for those who are curious about the next updates to PvP, I will just say... apart from minor tweaks (like stunbreak abilities cooldown being reset on death in 2.2) you should look forward to Game Update 2.4. /rubshands

Zooey: As always, Angels, we will continue to track the story as more details are revealed.  For us at the Tantalon News Network, good night and have a good weekend.
