Magnus And His Threats
« on: October 06, 2006, 07:35:02 am »
well, I had an interesting conversation with magnus last night as some of you know.  Basically I was killing him to no end over and over and over on a fight that he had started with just about every zion that was at the party.  He had asked if I ever went to his ventrillo.  I of course said yes, and he said thank God come in here for a min.  I did and he then proceeded to tell me the vent is no mainly for stealing IP's from FA's.  By, doing this he hopes to get our real life addresses and hack our computers lol.  He then proceeded to tell me how if I have children he is going to repe them along with any brothers or sisters I may have.  I ended up having a good laugh about it :) knowing very well he cant hack shit with just my ip alone.  But, just know he is using vent specifically to log our ip's.  We should feel honored :).

We always kinda expected that's what it was for. I don't fear mag, but mek hangs out in there quite a bit. Normally an IP won't give you much of anything - but I'm pretty sure Mek could find a way to put me in a world of hurt with all the ports I have open for my servers.

Also, almost everyones IP is dynamic. Meaning that it gets recycles and changes. Usually after it breaks connection the IP will goto a pool of sorts for the next person who connects to that ISP to get. SO if your really worried just go unplug your cable/dsl modem for about 2 minutes and plug it back. Wala, new IP.

Must be sad hearing a grown man say that to you.

Anyway I'm stunned I gotta lie down.

Don't believe everything you think.

well yew mine is dynamic not static. In any case an IP by itself will do nothing, but lets say he gave me a file attachment. Now some of those files could contain a trojan and other viruses... and with that and the IP he could connect to my computer and do whatever the hell he wanted to do. So basically just dont accept any files from him, as if any of you would.  I once had a program that did just that.  You send it out to someone and it would send you a message on aim or yahoo or whatever you set it up for.  On this message it would contain their IP address and it would give you a new message everytime they logged back on the internet with their new IP.  With it i could watch what they were doing, turn on the camera, control their computer, make the cd rom drive pop out, delete anything i wanted, basically have total control of their computer.  Nasty little thing.

that is sick. frankly I think it should be reported to SOE as one reason I am so paranoid about real names etc is there are simply too many lunatics in this world.

If you have an IP and like fuse says, an open port that makes your computer much more succeptable. Ex. if you have a security flaw on the service running on that port the attacker may be able to put the unwanted files on your computer.

I Use:
-PC Trend Micro, with internet protection, Firewall turned off.
-BlackICE Firewall: Server Edition
-Ad-Aware Pro - Includes active scan (Ad-Watch)
-SpyBot S&D (Free to everyone)
-Webroot SpySweeper
-Webroot Window Washer
-O&O Defrag Pro Server Edition
-WinASO Registry Optimizer

One good virus program is all you need as long as it's updated and you have a few extra add-on protectors. I highly suggest everyone get these products if they can, except for the webroot ones. With the exception of the webroot products, these are the best and the most easily available and crackable programs (though I paid for most) available in their class.

All are freebies and I have had no problems what so ever! Well Trojans keep on popping up from time to time but the AVG zapz 'em so, all's well that ends well :D
