Non-VR Games / Re: Our SWTOR challenge
« on: April 24, 2015, 02:03:18 am »

I'm actually downloading SWTOR as I type. Need to see the changes after a year out. :|
Be prepared to shell out another $20 for the expansion. I did the same thing a few weeks ago, but I realized all the new content (getting to level 60, new story, etc) requires an additional $20 purchase. Even with that you are STILL locked out of all the subscriber stuff.

Wait they let you buy Rise of the Hutt Cartel without straight up taking you to Shadow of Revan? Shadow of Revan comes with RotHC, as does subbing for one month come with RotHC. I can't believe they would let you make that option happen.

I don't think they let you buy just RotHC anymore. It is free with a subscription and it comes for free with Revan.

I have only in the sense that I picked out my utilities. The idea is it will be a lot easier to balance the game when there aren't tons of different hybrid builds.

The downside to NEXT is you have to trade in the phone and it has to be in working condition without a cracked screen if you want to do the early upgrade. For me I like to have my last phone around as a backup if I lose or break my current phone, you lose that ability with next. Also the loss of unlmited data. That is why I haven't gone with next personally.

I am still playing, have been playing a lot the last couple of months. I switched to The Harbinger, Jung Ma has been dead for awhile. The servers are night and day difference.

I have a Xbox Day One Edition preordered on Amazon but I am thinking about cancelling it. I cant really bring myself to spend $500 for a launch console that will have a small library for awhile and I would only use it as a Hulu / Netflix machine till more good games come out.
Why cancel it?  List it up on eBay.  Are you guaranteed release day delivery?  People are already doing it and getting way more than $500.  Auction ends, you get paid and then you switch the address on your Amazon order to the winner's address.  You don't have to worry about packaging and shipping, and you make some profit.

Fantastic idea!

I've been too lazy to update my bookmark, I just wait for the redirect. But the first few times I was confused why the site went back to old look.

Mine is an invitation to a stress test. It says "Stress tests help us prepare for a smooth launch, and we'll have larger tests as we scale up to full capacity. In return for helping us, participating in a stress test will increase your chance to be invited to a normal, longer-term session."

Has yours been "stress tests"?

I think this is the first stress test I have been invited to, the other times it was a focused test, like test the new starting area. The last one was for the new build that added the new compass system and I think they mentioned something then that they were using it as a stress test for the account creation system as well by inviting a larger than normal group.

My theory is, if you get invited, you will be invited back every test after. But that is just a theory, there may be other tests I haven't been included in since I was originally accepted.

I have been in the last 3 beta tests. I don't think they have one that is constantly happening. The servers are only up for a few hours a day, usually for two or three days until they release a new build of the game. Since that is the case I haven't been able to spend a whole lot of time with it to really tell you anything more than what you can see on any officially released videos.

External Programs - This is more of a long term goal, but it would be cool to launch a different game/program from the Constuct.

Haha. Spoilers...
Already researched and have a preliminary function for this in place. At the moment, the downside is having to manually enter application location. It can't find applications for you. So I'm trying to think through a way of giving the user an easy, intuitive way of entering program information (ie, pathing).

I know to launch steam games you can just use the url steam://run/<id>
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_browser_protocol

You could just have a list of steam games to pick from. Of course that doesn't help for non-steam games.

I was really tempted to buy that when it was on the steam sale a couple weeks ago. I guess I should have now.
