Welcome to the FA website, home of San Paro's finest!

...

Ok, enough of that shit. If you're here, you probably already know who we are. We've either busted your head in while you were jacking that TV or you watched us bust that guy's head in while he was jacking your TV. You may love us. You may hate us. Either way, we don't care.

For those of you living in a cave, we're known as the Furious Angels. Why? Figure that out on your own. What do we do? Well, we do what we have to. We're above the law. Yeah, that's right. We're not afraid to say it. We bypass the paperwork. There's too much crime and not enough paper. We're not the police...we're above the police. If you're hear to get your kitty out of a tree, you've come to the wrong place.

Commander Tbone

MISSION

The Furious Angels is a sanctioned department created to counteract the growing crime rate in San Paro. We are not the police. We are not the government. Think of us as outside hire. We use any force necessary to bring to justice the criminals of San Paro. Simple, right?

HISTORY

As crime increased in San Paro, it was decided that the police department no longer had enough resources to control the city. It was around this time that a man known only as Tbone approached the city police with a solution. Tbone proposed an elite taskforce of men and women with no identity and no ties to the government to combat the chaos of crime with a unique, merciless force. Tbone and his Furious Angels have no serial numbers, no known names other than their aliases. They are ghosts...though most consider them angels. Angels protecting their city.

ACADEMY

Academy? What do you think this is? The police? Or some cheesy movie? Either you have what it takes or you don't. If you think you have what it takes, register with us and if we aren't busy saving your ass, maybe we'll take a look at what you've got to offer.

I think our main logo should be a badge of some sort... Too cliche?

I was thinking of replacing the NYPD badge with one with the FA symbol on it.

I love it.  No nonsense, no fancy words... just straight business.

Also, badges may be cliche but they're also pretty darn cool.  Especially with the FA symbol on it.  But that may also be because the FA symbol can make ANYTHING look totally bad-ass.  Test it sometime.

I'll be honest, I think the intro paragraphs sound a little demeaning and posturing.  I understand that this is a no-nonsense approach in accordance with the game's setting, but talking down to your potential recruits seems counter-productive.  It might be better to explain more of who we are and what people can expect from us. Rather than saying that we're badasses and anyone who thinks otherwise can piss off.

Can I suggest a slight change?

"You may love us. You may hate us. Either way, we're here to get the job done."

Something along those lines.  I think puffing out our chests while claiming to not give a shit about the opinions of others will make them default to having no opinion at all.  Sure we don't give a shit whether people love us or hate us, but bragging about that fact like its a merit badge seems kind of high school-ish.

If I'm the only one who feels this way I'll shut up.  :)

I see where you're coming from Manic. My fear was I didn't want to attract the shit talkers. Thing is, anything else makes us look like the goody-two shoe police force. "We're here to save the day!" I wanted to try something different that fit the personality of the game. I like the juxtaposition of what you would expect from a "police force" website and the attitude that we're giving.

Is it arrogant? Yeah. My idea is that once they register to the site and go to our main site, we can give them more of a direct approach of our goals and code of conduct and all that stuff. This is mainly to grab your attention and get you to register and explore the site further.

Site is coming along. Pretty busy this weekend, but I have some more free time next week. Hopefully I can get this functional along with setting up a "registered" section of the site that is different than our "member" section and open up registration to all.

The concept art of the website has finally been nailed down. The skeleton of the website was laid out by Tbone, and I just did a bit of work to clean it up a bit (font in the middle very subject to change).

Oh, and I found a kick-ass banner.

The website should be up in the next couple of days, hopefully. If anyone can round my corners a bit better at the bottom, that would be really, really swell.

I'm taking a trip away from computer life this weekend, but when I get back I intend to try my hand at an insignia for APB like I did for SWTOR.

Ok, I made quite a few changes to the site in order to make it a bit more edgy.

http://apb.thefuriousangels.com

I think it is better, but let me know if anything is too distracting. We should be set to start recruiting in APB soon!

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I think I fixed/addressed most of your concerns. None of you left a checklist on this thread like I asked, though, so I can't be certain. Two issues we probably should take care of now (caused by my font script):

-Pages are loading a little slow (this we can live with)
-In IE, an error message saying "A script is causing IE to run slowly" appears when you load the page.

We need to get rid of this error message. It is caused by the font javascript program. I only get the error message in IE.

Please let me know of any other changes that need to be made as well.

Well, the script takes too long for body text and isn't working in IE and iPhone. I guess I'll have to make gif files out of them...

Ok, fixed the text. Should be looking good on every browser now. The only issue left to get rid of:

-A pixel's width of white appears on the right side of the border. Reducing table size by one pixel fixes this for every browser but Firefox. In Firefox, it reads the table is too small for the design, and thus, very rudely, forces the last border picture down to a new row, throwing off the whole site. So far I can't find a fix that pleases every browser.
