Mass Effect 2 (early release!)
« on: January 21, 2010, 01:32:11 pm »
The game promises to be epic. While it's supposed to be out on the 26th, I figured the date was close enough that there might be a leaked copy. I then stumbled upon this:

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5297589/Mass_Effect_2-Razor1911

It's by a VIP, which means it's legit (in order to be VIP, you have to have a big reputation for quality releases...this guy wouldn't screw over his status and rep).

On my old connection, something like this would take me just a few hours to download. On my new connection, however, I'll probably have it downloaded just in time for the 26th...haha.

You could also wait until the 26th and buy it - it should be one of those worth buying. But if you want a sneak peak or an early start, I figured you'd appreciate the link. I'll post again when I've validated that it is working.

I've decided that if I get good grades from my Finals in December, I'm going to treat myself to ME2 and an Xbox360 :)

Pre-ordered it from game stop so I could get

Description:

Like all modern combat hard-suits, the Terminus Assault Armor is environmentally sealed with an independent air supply for use in space and extreme planetary conditions, with an onboard "micro-frame" computer capable of running a suite of battle management software. To prevent detection by passive thermal sensors, body heat is channeled to the base of the feet, where it can be dispersed into the ground.

    * Increase storm speed by 10%
    * +1 magazine of reserve ammo for weapons
    * +15% shields

*Pre-order item only, available at Gamestop.

and

Description:

The Inferno Armor is able to recognize elevated heart rates and pupil movement in people close by, acting almost like a lie detector. This same array also monitors the officer and regulates sub-systems with extreme efficiency to allow for greater response times.

    * Negotiation bonus 10%
    * All power damage 10%
    * Increases storm speed by 10%

*Pre-order item only.

Originally created for Earth's Urban Combat Championship, this set of armor has undergone as much or more field testing than those of modern militaries. The armor's microframe computer adapts to any top-tier omni-tool, kinetic barrier, or biotic amp, giving seemless and error-free performance. The chest and shoulder piece bears the logo of the Edmonton Blood Dragons, and the inside of the armor bears the signatures of the entire team. When and how the Illusive man got his hands on this armor is unknown.

    * Increases power damage by 15%
    * Increases shield strength by 10%

I also pre-ordered this baby from Gamestop simply for the above bonuses, mean who could resist the uber sexy Blackstorm? I can wait three days more for a toy like that.

I've installed the game and set up the settings. I haven't actually had time to start a game yet, but so far everything is working just fine from the download! Once I get off work in a few hours I'll start playing and make sure it is fully functional!

Just played the prologue. Pretty sweet! Martin Sheen is in it! I carried over my save file from the first Mass Effect. Everything is working perfectly and smoothly!

Have you encountered anything critical yet that relies on your actions in the original Mass Effect? I'm very curious to see how this save transfer thing works out. I remember a fantastic Gameboy Advance game called Golden Sun that pulled it off quite well, it would be horribly ironic if a game like ME2 fell short of GBA game, haha.

Yeah, almost all your decisions carry over and they reference them several times early on in the game. For instance, I have a message from Anderson to go visit him at the Citadel since I chose him at the end of the first game. Also, I believe if you were paragon or renegade affects how people remember you and reference you when they run into you.

I played ME1 on my laptop but I'm getting ME2 for Xbox - can I choose my own story pre-game or during cutscenes ala KOTOR 2 style?

Yes. Either you can port in a save game or start from scratch. You can also still change certain things that you port over (change your appearance, focus, etc.)

I have really high hope for this game, I loved the Original and really digged the lore and feel of the game.

I was blown away by the demos and first impressions, it seems the improved so much which is what I love Bioware for.

It should be here within a few hours, I can't wait!

You won't be disappointed. I'm still trying to finish Borderlands but I'm afraid I never will if I get too involved in ME2!

Wow! Just Wow! This game is really well done, I expect this from Bioware -- However to see the transformation from ME1 to ME2 is just out of this world.

This will be a Top 5 games of the Year no problem.

No! I'm so jealous my 360 is being fixed so I have to wait 14-21 days before I can play it.
