Build didn't last. Started doing a reboot loop in less than 24 hours. RMA'd the motherboard. Getting reboot with new motherboard. RMAing the CPU now. If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas...Tested new RAM and it's fine.

Upgrading a bit again as I've been hitting CPU bottlenecks recently.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard: ASRock X570M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3000

A problem I see coming is that my cooler (H55) doesn't fit the AM4 chipset. There's a bracket you can get, but it appears to not be in stock anywhere. The Ryzen 3600 does come with its own cooler, but it's apparently a bit noisy. Can't find this bracket: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-%7C-Parts/PC-Components/Cooling/AM4-AMD-Retention-Bracket-Kit-for-Hydro-Series%E2%84%A2-Coolers/p/CW-8960046

Hopefully replacing the mobo and cpu isn't that complicated. It's been a while since I attempted this. Do I need thermal paste again?

I got stung by a wasp for the first time today in lord knows how long.  Iíd say thatís pretty random and appropriate for the randomness thread!  Am I right or am I right?!
There were some flying around right outside my apartment and I was worried about that while carrying in groceries. My girlfriend also got stung by a wasp two weeks ago, but we were out hiking in the woods so maybe not quite as random!

Who else is jumping in this next week? I'm really interested to see how it runs in VR and the grouping capabilities. We would love to have more people join us! You can play pancake mode if you currently don't have VR.

No Man's Sky is On Sale!

If you already own No Man's Sky, a free DLC is releasing August 14th that enables full VR support. According to press previews, the game has been fully revamped for VR and it's not just a quick port.

No Man's Sky's original release was controversial, since many of its promised features never made it to the live game. Since then, however, Hello Games has been adding updates that improve the game. No Man's Sky Next update that released last year apparently brought the game into it's proper form, including a four-man multiplayer. This VR update, labelled "Beyond", also promises improvements to the online multiplayer aspect of the game.

I know me and a few others plan on jumping in starting August 14th, so find me on Steam if you want to join up for the space exploring in VR!

I paused my sub once I got the Rift S and have been doing more VR gaming. I'm not sure if Broin is still jumping in from time to time or not. There might be faster ways of getting this gear since when new gear comes out, they make getting the old gear easier.

As far as I know Viveport is the Chinese storefront for the HTC Vive, so I wouldn't recommend that as a legit ecosystem. I'll try to stay logged in to Discord, so send me a ping when you're around! I just got back in town and have the weekend off.

Heyo Everyone!  Been awhile since I've been on the boards or in game.  Hope the you all are doing well.

Just ordered the Rift S today and should have it on Friday/Saturday.

Oculus Name: Bellthazor
Sweet! I've been playing the Rift S a lot since getting it. My girlfriend actually plays the Quest at the same time. We're both enjoying Beat Saber a lot - there's even a multiplayer mod for it. I played OrbusVR to max level but didn't have anyone to keep playing with. I've been doing SkyrimVR and am now on the expansions. I'm waiting for No Man's Sky in VR to come out, which is supposed to be sometime this summer. Rec Room has some good multiplayer games. VRChat is weird but worth exploring. I'd like to get back into Echo VR but need teammates!

Since getting the Rift S I've been playing this again. They revamped it with the title OrbusVR: Reborn. It's available for the Rift and the Quest. I've got a level 24/30 Scoundrel, so I can help out anyone who wants to jump in. Let me know!

At this point I'm pretty wary of

1. VR Kickstarters

2. Any third party movement solution.

Tons of VR Kickstarters were fully funded and then never released or still waiting on a release. Meanwhile companies like Oculus and HTC went ahead and provided their own solutions (specifically with motion controllers). Omni-treadmills were popular for a while but never caught on.

If you're really interesting in something like this I would wait until they actually have it for sale and see how the VR community at large reacts to it. There are just SOOOO many smash and grab VR kickstarters...

I sold mine via Facebook Marketplace locally for $325, but that was last month before the Rift S had a release date. I'm not sure what they are selling for these days.

Oculus has opened up pre-orders for both the Rift S and the Quest. Each headset costs $399 and will ship May 21st. You can order from Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft Store, and probably Oculus themselves.

Meanwhile Valve released details on their Index headset. It will cost $999 for the headset, controllers, and tracking stations.

Personally I've already put my order in for Rift S and Quest!

The Oculus Rift S is an upgrade to the original CV1. It has inside-out tracking, meaning that you don't need outside sensors. It also has an upgraded screen and a halo design for improved comfort. It will sell for $399 and is rumored to be coming out at the end of the month.

The Oculus Quest is a STAND ALONE headset that also has inside-out tracking and does not require a computer. It has a similar screen to the Rift S but lacks the halo design. It will also sell for $399 at the end of the month.

Both headsets also come with redesigned Touch controllers and Passthrough+, a technology that allows you to see your area even while the headset is still on.

Personally my plan is to get both headsets. There were be many games that are cross-buy, meaning that if you get it for one headset, you can play it on both. I've already sold my original Rift and will use that money to purchase the Rift S. My birthday is also at the end of the month so I'll probably use my birthday money to get the Quest. Since I go out of town for months at a time, the Quest is a perfect way to keep playing VR when I'm away from my computer!

While the Rift S is more of lateral upgrade than a 2.0, I feel the screen and not having to use sensors is worth the purchase - especially since my sold Rift will cover most of the cost. Anyone else plan on getting the Rift S or Quest?

I've been looking forward to Nostos, crossing my fingers it'll be a good VR title.

Nostos link: https://nostos.163.com/
That looked very cool until I saw that servers will be capped at 20 players max. I guess it's more like a pretty VR Rust than an MMO.
