« on: September 04, 2018, 12:50:23 am »
Rocket League just released Clubs (their version of guilds). We have an FA Club, of course, that can hold up to 20 I believe. Contact me on Steam if you'd like an invite!

VR Gaming / OrbusVR
« on: March 15, 2018, 01:04:41 am »
It's on sale for $30. If you've used the Rift recently, you should have also received a $15 store credit. As a result, a bunch of us are gonna grab OrbusVR for $15. It's a VRMMORPG. Don't expect WoW level of polish, but it should hold some interesting group content at the very least!

News and Announcements / Patch Released for Broken Rifts
« on: March 08, 2018, 07:05:11 pm »
A patch has been released by Oculus for the broken Oculus Rifts. If you are getting an error when trying to boot up the device, please download and install the patch. The patch will manually update your certificates.

Those affected by the error (anyone who has used their Rift since February 1, 2018) will receive $15 of Oculus store credit as well!

Alert! Rifts are currently not working due to an expired certificate! Oculus has been working on a fix all day. Will keep you updated!

VR Gaming / From Other Suns
« on: January 10, 2018, 08:19:38 pm »
We recently started playing "From Other Suns", a three player co-op VR game. It requires a lot of teamwork and learning how things work, so we are having fun. Once you "die" (lose all your crew members), you start all over again. However, certain achievements unlock permanent benefits even with a new game. Here's the list I've found:

50 pirate away missions - legendary scattershot mk1 (325dmg)
50 robot away missions - legendary shock burst mk1 (253dmg)
125 crimson marauder pirates - legendart plasma explosive mk1 (325dmg 32ammo)
150 unaffiliated pirates - legendary auto pistol mk1 (144dmg 260ammo)
450 (150+300) unaffiliated pirates - legendary auto pistol mk2 (260dmg 300ammo)
300 robots - legendary shock disc mk1 (217dmg)
get back to earth - corvette class ship (called "asa radiance" )
get 20 crew from missions - legendary laser beam (163dmg 195ammo)
50 pirate captains - pirate corvette mk3 (ship)
500 Jumps - Corvette ship
Destoy 100 Pirate Ships - Pirate Skimmer (ship)

Facebook Inc. is taking another stab at turning its Oculus Rift virtual reality headset into a mass-market phenomenon. Later this year, the company plans to unveil a cheaper, wireless device that the company is betting will popularize VR the way Apple did the smartphone.

Currently VR hardware comes in two flavors: cheap headsets that turn smartphones into virtual reality players (like Samsung’s $130 Gear VR) and high-end gaming rigs (like Facebook’s $400 Oculus Rift) that hook up to $1,000-plus desktop computers. Facebook’s new headset is designed to bridge the gap -- a device that will sell for as little as $200 and need not be tethered to a PC or phone, according to people familiar with its development. It will ship next year and represent an entirely new category.

It sounds like this will be basically what the Gameboy was to the SNES. The benefit here is that you can take VR anywhere without the hassle of fiddling with your phone. The downside is that, currently, there's no plans for it to have positional tracking - meaning you'll be looking at the GearVR library of apps rather than the PC Rift's more robust offering.

This was teased about the positional tracking, however:

A future version of the product will have that technology, according to a person familiar with the plans.

Online qualifiers for "The Unspoken" are beginning while "Echo Arena" will start August 24th. The total prize pool equals $200,000!  You can check out the details here, sign up for our Echo Arena team here, and register for the esports league here!

Echo Arena is currently in open beta and scheduled to launch for free July 20th!

News and Announcements / Rift & Touch Now $399!
« on: July 10, 2017, 02:35:11 pm »
Summer of Rift is all about celebrating the VR community and encouraging new people to get in the game. Today, we’re excited to announce that Rift + Touch are now available at $399 for a limited time.

With its comfortable ergonomic design, high-quality lenses with a wide field of view, high-resolution OLED displays, and six degrees of freedom that let you move around and explore, Rift is VR at its finest. Combine that with Touch controllers, and you can see your own hands in virtual reality—grab and throw objects, cast spells, or paint and sculpt like the real thing. Plus, with a suite of experiences that promise action, adventure, mystery, and excitement, you’ll be transported to places you’ve never imagined.

If you missed the first weekend of the upcoming multiplayer game "Echo Arena", never fear! Oculus has announced a second beta weekend happening next week. This weekend will actually start Thursday, July 6th and extend through Monday, July 10th. The first beta weekend was extremely successful, getting very positive reviews from both journalists and players. Join us next weekend to get in on the action!

More information can be found here.

News and Announcements / Echo Arena Beta Weekend is Now Live!
« on: June 23, 2017, 02:37:37 pm »
The multiplayer zero-g arena style Ender's Game meets Rocket League game for the Oculus Rift started it's open beta weekend today. I've already played a few matches and I must say, it's incredible. The movement feels great and the game itself is a lot of fun. Even the social lobby is a fun place to float around, customize, and practice! The only thing missing in the beta is the ability to group up with friends, but I assume that'll be ready to go at launch! Definitely check it out this weekend while you have the chance! The game releases FOR FREE next month!
