Title: New Captains Needed

It's that time again! We need another regular ship and another foreign one. If you would like to captain, please send applications to tbone@followtheangel.org . I am looking for someone who will be active daily and can stay in communication with me. Leadership skills are preferred, but more important is a good nature and enthusiastic attitude towards the faction. Thanks!

I have a question:

Is there some concrete information on the size and purpose of Hovercraft crews and political factions?  From what I've read (admittedly little) hovercraft crews sound temporary, like grouping in other games; while political factions best represent guilds.

If anyone has any solid information, backed by official commentary, I would be interested in reading it.

"Ragaini: Once a character's Reputation reaches a certain level, that character can become a Captain and form a Crew. Crews are small groups of players who share access to a hovercraft. The hovercraft in turn grants access to a whole host of character benefits. Crews can team up to form Factions. Factions are The Matrix Online's equivalent of Guilds and are directly loyal to one of the Organizations. Faction members receive many benefits, one of which is the ability to create a Construct. Constructs are small "pocket worlds" that players manage, customize, and defend."

Wow, that was your first post, asking to be captain!!  jk, I did the same thing, now it's been weeks and I feel like an old timer.  We're growing like crazy, I remember when we had 20 members.

Yes, almost every captain has come from another ship. Otherwise, only members going through their trial period would get to captain. Lol...

Ummmmmm. There's kinda a problem i think. They say that once someone reaches a certain level they can become captain. Well, what happens if our organization doesn't quite work out. Say, the current captain ends up not reaching the proper reputation level or that other crew members reach it first. Will how the game says it is set up just have to be different than how we actually consider it set up in order to build the ingame faction faster?

I'm not too sure what you mean Soma by your last question. But I wondered also about what would happen if a captain's level was below his crew members. This is the thing the captain isn't defined as his level of his caracter (althogh for all reasons it should be higher then his subordinates) but it's defined of his ability to lead, and think under pressure. That's what defines a leader. But I do think captains should put in more hours atleast then thier crew members so that they can be higher or have a higher level for all arguementative purposes.

Damn good point. But I think that tbone is selecting the most active and useful members as captians anyway, so they will most probably be the people who are in the game the most, therefore the higher character level.

Whats going to happen is that the crew of the ship at the moment has to help their captain, in my case Triplex, get to the appropriate level.  Then you can work on yourself and leveling up, also if you are a spy but somehow recieve a soldier upgrade then you can trade around, this will mean that everyone helps everyone.

Speaking of a spy obtaining soldier upgrades, would it be possible for a spy to "use" them.As a spy I know our job is to be covert, but if some how our disguise is blown, you would want to have atleast some non sneak attacks.

there is now actual class boudries, you can be equally a spy hacker and soldier, and specialise in none. I mean, seriously, who is gonna not fight, as all teh fighting skills are in soldier. Everyone is a multclass.

Yep, you can interchange to any of the three ability trees, but what i think will happen is that you will specialize in one eg. Spy tree, you will be better at sneaking, but if you use abilities from the soldier tree then you will not be as good, or you will get something against you.

Alright sounds good.From my experience in Star Wars Galaxies, I am making an assumption that there will be things similar to the "skill boxes" in SWG.Perphaps there will be more then 1 level of a skill such as disguises.I am hoping that there will be some certain "skill boxes" like "Trap" that I won't really need.The main things I want are the ones that help me so I get in and out of a secure building in one peace.So then to do that I would need 'Lock Opening' 'Disguising' and 'Information Gathering'.Say if there were a total of 4 large boxes in the Spy Tree.The ones I mentioned above that I will need are 3 out of the 4.I would have 1 large box left to use right?Maybe I would be able to use that for 'Pistols' in the Soldier Tree.

Please remember these are all examples and I am quite sure the real system will be much different and I will need more then the 3 skills I mentioned.

Yeah, that's quite a good assumption.  I'm also informed that you can trade skills with other people because they are like programs that you can use as currency.

On the subject ot triplex, i dont think he's been active for a bit, and hes from Russia, st petersberg im not sure entirely sure but it hink thats classed as part of europe, althought my geog is very bad. But if not and its on the far east of another place, will that not be in a differnet time zone, and on a different server, just wondering, cos there might be another captain needed for that ship, another one for another EU ship and another one for The american ship, and i suppose Triplex wil captain the far east ship if we have enough call for it.

I think I'm allowed to say that I have been given the honor of being the next American Captain.  My ship is being fitted and some of the new recruits will be with me.  I will try to take a more regulated approach and see where that gets us.  Look forward to working with some of you onboard.

I would have to say that there will be a need for maxxed spies.  This is a game like any other MMORPG, with a Matrix twist.  The very fact that people are focused on soldiers means that dedicated spies and hackers will be all the more important.

Er, I think we don't need too many spies or hackers.We just need really good of what we have.I think we should have hackers that work on certain things such as giving others weapons or finding safe ways to enter a building.

We'll need as many as the game dictates we need.  Take a look at clerics in most every other game; a staple of groups.  If taking on a challenge in MxO requires fighting, you can bet you'll need someone (hackers likely) there to heal you.  

If a spy or hacker is used as crowd control, then you'll need them as well.

It's a safe bet that the more dedicated the player to a given class, the more powerful and efficient that player will be.

Yeah, well everybody is going to have different preferences.  I'm sure we will find out when we jack in what we will have need of.  I think it will be pretty interesting seeing the different skils work with each other.  Time will tell.  I have decided to be a dedicated spy in the game, well atleast thats where I stand.

If you think that Triplex isn't able to be Captain of the Formosus because he is in a different time zone then we need to start looking for a new one, after all a ship without a captain is fairly useless.  You right about him not being active lately but then he was really active before, maybe there has been some kind of problem where he lives or something. Give him another week or so, try sending him an email if you are really concerned.
