My Newish Laptop
« on: January 03, 2008, 04:41:16 pm »
I decided to split this from the other thread because it wasn't really relevant.

I bought this computer in an somewhat a state of emergency back in October. Paid retail at a Best Buy, 3rd cheapest one they had in stock.

For those of you interested my stats (including all my personal touches):
Make/Model: Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747
CPU's: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-56 1.8GHz
OS: Windows XP Professional (32-bit)
RAM: 4.0GB (2x2.0GB) Super Talent DDR2 PC-5300 667MHz
Display: 15.4" Widescreen WXGA
GPU: ATI Radeon X1200 128MB Dedicated (Integrated up to 319MB)
HD: Toshiba 200GB 4200RPM ATA
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook, Samson C01U Microphone, Sony MDR-V700 Headphones
Optical Drive: LG GSA-T20N SuperMulti CD24/24/16 DVD-8/8/4/6 DVD+8/4/8 DVDRAM 5
Mouse/Keyboard: Logitech G5 Laser, Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000
Extras: Built-in Chicony Webcam, SD Card Reader, Firewire, S-Video Out, 4 USB 2.0 ports

And just look at this sexy desktop I have going.

That's right, I made it look and feel like a Mac.
(in case you're wondering the icons from left to right are firefox, thunderbird, teamspeak, aim, mxo, steam, itunes, word, excel, bittorrent, seti@home, spybot, notepad, calculator, paint, system preferences (control panel), trash (recycle)

Matrix Screensaver I use.

If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

Sadly it's put together piecewise after nearly an entire day of searching, downloading and fiddling about.

StyleXP Got me the apple panther toolbar style at the top and background image and log in screen
ObjectDock (also ObjectDesktop but I didn't like it) got me the dock at the bottom of the screen, had to find a separate skin to make it look like tiger
YzShadow puts shadows underneath taskbar and around windows and documents
YzToolbar to skin explorer a bit so it looks like mac navigation
and searching for a whole lot of icons for the stuff on my desktop

You should put it all in a zip file and let us download it.

That's sweet. :D

...And we will strike down upon those of Darkness, with great vengeance and Furious Anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

If you email it to me I will throw it in the same folder your coderlib is in.

(edit: oh, it's probably pretty big. If you catch me on TS sometime I can try setting up an ftp for you. For some reason I remember it fucking up last time we tried.)

Don't believe everything you think.
