Okay I'm reposting this as I think the old thread got lost during the move... I am going to try and do some shots this Friday for the movie. However, I am needing a bad guy uniform. At one time we had a Goth / Anti-FA / Uniform. Basically it was the FA uniform in all black. That could work... I know Arch. has a good red uniform as well, and if memory serves me Tizona had a cool grey one going. I'd like to get together on Friday and get everyone's input on the bad guy suit and then go from there. I have the music to upload and as soon as I do I'll post a link to it. And one more important thing folks. Please be patient with me on this.... There are things I'm going to be trying that I don't know if they are possible or not, but if they are it'll be something no one has seen yet.

wish i could come, now that marching band is finally done. however, we get kicked oiut of the dorms for turkey day week, and i can't bring my puter home because i have pep band over the weekend where they house us wherever, and carrying around a giant desktop wouldn't be the brightest idea. ... *sniffle*

Black Bandana
Of course, this is only for the men. I don't have a female character with enough coding ability to test outfits on.

Well I am definatley going to need a mass amount of Angels for at least 2-3 shots... And I mean a mass amount. (Pretty much everyone). For the most part we are going to have 4-6 antagonists and 4-5 FA. Several running/chase shots. A few sniper shots. A few stealth attack shots. Lots of MA fighting this time. I want to get Manic's NeoWallRun for sure. Then several of you are going to be pulling a few lvl 255 agents for me to get gun shots out of. I'm going to need at least 3 people who can load up Agent disguises as well. I'll be getting various single shots of FA members throughout the Matrix answering Cell phones ect. So think of a cool place where you may want to be and we can do those whenever.
If all goes well I may try to pump out another short film that I've had in mind as well which will only require 2-3 people at the most. I also plan on buffing up the Halloween video. I'm off all next week so I should have just enough time to meet the deadline

Let me step forward and say that I'm quite happy your taking this under your wing broin. I wish I had the time to learn the tools.
Now, I would be more than willing to be the knife thrower/assassin/agent. Except I think I lost my agent disguise. Also, can I hire you to make a short film about Fuse for self-whoring and AWR purposes? =)

It's always held a special place in my heart. No pun intended.
I think an awesome shot to do would be to have an angel standing on top of HotC, and do that oh-so-cool "scroll up" camera movement. The camera would scroll up past the glowing HotC sign, stopping at whoever is on the roof, and get a shot of them talking on their cell phone and then hyper-jumping away. It would be a kind of remake of the opening scene in The Matrix, where the camera scrolls down past the HotC sign to focus on the arrival of the agents.

I'm assuming that it goes without saying that all of our fancy camera tricks are remaining within the confines of these faction walls?
Ok then. Here's the step-by-step:
1. Put your hyper-jump ability in your hotbar if it isn't already.
2. Click and hold the left mouse button, or whichever button you use to select objects.
3. Push the hotbar key on your keyboard that will activate hyper-jump.
4. Continue to hold the appropriate mouse button, and move your mouse around.
5. Move your mouse in the "up" direction until the camera movement stops. This will put your camera directly above your RSI and make it parallel to the ground.
6. When you have the camera facing the way you want it, let go of the mouse button and flick your scroll wheel back and forth. This will raise and lower the camera.
7. Experiment.
Sometimes certain placement of the cursor will cause the camera to scroll up automatically. Obviously you can't scroll up too high if you are under a bridge or overpass. To get back into normal camera mode, just click the mouse or hit the hyper-jump hotbar key.
It's a nice effect when filming, and I use it all the time to take screenshots of large areas.

As far as the female uniform goes, maybe we should see if Kayda remembers what the all black stuff he had on his character was, it looked quite badass.

Okay I have a major decision to make. I just found out that FRAPS doesn't film at anything higher than 1024x860 (or whaterver it is). Now my list video I filmed at the highest widescreent that I could but FRAPS knocked it down to like 860x530. When I play the video through my system it appears okay and pretty much like the quality I get in game with the hightest setting. I tried a short sequence with the game set at 1024x860 and I didn't like the way that it look in game, probably because I'm use to the higher setting. However the filme didn't look that bad and in comparision to another exact same one filmed at the original setting seemed comprable. So should I switch to 1024x860 or stick with what I got and know. Please let me know whether the Halloween video was as good a quality when you viewed it as your in game video is and whether you think I need to swtich to the 1024X860. I'll be in game in about 2 hours to get started.

I think that the halloween video quality would pass just fine.
The fact is the video they pick will probably be displayed on a projector for the staff. Many projectors, especially widescreen projectors oftern only have a rez of 854x480. 480 is also the number of lines on your TV screen. If they have a projector with higher rez which they very well may have then a higher rez could improve quality. But really a rez of 860x530 should be just fine. Considering that has more pixels than your 60" TV screen.

The Holloween one was very nice quality. 10x better than many I've seen. I have to run to the store, but will be on about 5pm FA time.

I thought the halloween video was excellent quality. Definitely surpassing most videos out there. I can't help but wonder what the specs on your machine are, Broin.
Lithium pretty much covered it. 860x530 should be fine if they are showing the videos on a projector screen. I'll be in-game in about an hour or so. This is going to be sweet!

Well.... All I can say is..... Holy F'n Crap :D Guys I just went through some of the footage and Wow... Holly F'n Crap that is freaking awesome stuff. At first I wasn't sure if we could get this done but now we have to. Tomorrow we will be tidying up a few things we did tonight. Had some more ideas :D We will then move on to the big FA / Anti FA fight scene.
The last scene if we can do it will be with Agents 1-3 coming in after we drop the bad guys. WE will need stand in agents and then a few of us to pull real ones in from abandoned mission areas. I have tested this and it does work. They will continue to spawn on you no matter where you go.
I'm still a bit leary about the Agent ending and if it will work but if it goes as good as tonight then we are GOLDEN.
My thanks to everyone who came out tonight and your patience with me and each other was great. For those who didn't attend here is a taste of what they all endured. Imagine continually running back and forth on a rooftop for and hour and a half to get a 20-30 second clip of video. Of course I think it was more like 2 hours but the results will be so sweet.
Once again my thanks and hope to see you all in tomorrow. I shall be in once again in the evening. Not exactly sure when but will post when I get it all figured out.

We appreciate your patience with us, Broin. I know at times it was a bit hard to follow directions just the way you wanted, but I'm glad we were able to get what you were going for.
The ending sounds awesome. I'll be in for most of tomorrow, but I will be busy in the late evening.

Okay most of the shooting is done... Here is what we have left to do...
A few more chase scenes. We need about another 20-25 seconds of these on a few different buildings. Might be nice to do a few chase scenes with FA members looking down on them. Tough shots not sure if we can get them.
Scene with Lithium being caught by the bad guys on the roof where the main fight takes place... And all the FA jumping in to save the day

Agents jump down and confront FA
All FA members jump down to face off on two Agents.
(Those last two sequences are extremley quick and won't last more than 10-20 seconds)
I say tomorrow should do it for us for sure. Then I'll spend the rest of the week getting it put together.

Jeezus Fuse! Those are awesome! I especially dig "Glass.wmv". My jaw hit the floor when the camera went through the glass. Very cool effect.
Man, I can't wait to see the finish product on all of this.

That glass shot and also the underground one are the main ones showcasing the camera effect I was playing with.I don't see it becomming an extremely commonly used thing, but there are certain applications to get a shot no one else in MxO has done or tried.
i.e.-Overhead shot of FA walking through <fill in blank here> - perhaps Club Hell? Basicly any shot indoors where we want a ceiling shot as we may have done before using the HJ camera.
Another test I'll do either today or tomorrow is a ground shot. Imagine hooking up the camera to your toe as you walk - then incresing the speed as you go through crowds of people like a poltergeist until you stop in front of a spray painted tag on a wall saying "The One". I'll post that one when I do it.

Chances are I'm going to be getting a time card here relatively soon as an early birthday present (mine is December 14th), so hopefully I'll be able to soar with the Angels again, soon XD

Well it is about 50 % complete, though there are some scenes I'd like to do over to have better quality and consistancy, but that's just the perfectionist in me. Chances are I'll work with what I got since mostly everyone is busy over the next few days with the Holiday.

Alrighty, sorry for throwing this thread into a tangent every so often, Broin, but I just thought I'd let you all know, I'll have my time card around the 30th of this month. The time card is presently being shipped (thanks to Fuse's linkage), and I should be in the code stream around the 30th. Your traiterous little Kayda will be back in due time XD

Okay I'm been trying to export the rough cut of the movie but I keep getting an error that says something like "Adobe failed to return movie frame" Does anyone know what this means or how I can get this thing fixed so we can get the movie done. We only have until tomorrow so this is urgent stuff here.

If your video has too much lag in it or too big of a skip, Adobe will bug out on that frame. Try rendering scene by scene until you find which one is giving you the problem.

I've been doing some research and it looks like the problem is SP2 and the dual threading processor I am using. There are work arounds and I've got it so that I can compile it but the quality I don't think is as good. Got one more option so I'm going to try that real quick. I'll keep you updated

Ohhh...I remember doing that. I had to take off hyperthreading in the bios. I don't remember if that actually worked or not, though. I remember trying it at one point, though.

I am currently uploading a rough version of the movie... I had to save it as a AVI and then convert it over and export it. The quality is not as good but it will give you an idea and hopefully an incentive for Arch, Manic, Fuse, Nightmare and others to show up tonight to finish this up.
I was able to cut the parts down and compile and export them the orginal way but somewhere along the way the sound got messed up by about 1.8 seconds so it's like watching a kungfu movie. I should be able to get the good quality movie done. I will post a seperate thread when the lower quality movie is ready for viewing

If you don't want to disable hyperthreading all together you can tell the process what thread to be run on...
CTRL + ALT + DEL
Processes Tab
Find the process in the list, right click on it
Set Affinity
Uncheck CPU1 (leave CPU0 Checked), OK
Close task manager, you should be good to go.
