RE: IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE MATRIX ONLINE – THE MATRIX ONLINE SERVICE WILL END ON JULY 31, 2009
Dear MxO Subscriber,
We want to inform you that on June 1, 2009, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) will suspend commercial services of THE MATRIX ONLINE (MxO). However, SOE will continue to operate the game service and players will still be able to play MxO through July 31, 2009.
As of June 1, 2009, SOE will no longer offer customer support or provide updates for MxO, and active subscribers with accounts in good standing will not be billed after that date. MxO subscribers who have prepaid subscription time that extends their subscription period past June 1, 2009 will receive a pro-rated refund for any such pre-paid excess subscription payments*. Such refunds are expected to be issued by October 1, 2009.
We welcome those active MxO subscribers in good standing to play one or all of the following SOE massively-multiplayer online PC games at full paid subscriber status at no cost between June 1, 2009 and July 31, 2009 (subject to the terms and conditions described below) using the same Station Account you use to subscribe to MxO**: Free Realms™, EverQuest®, EverQuest® II, and Star Wars Galaxies™. To access and download the game software for EverQuest, EverQuest II, or Star Wars Galaxies, begin by downloading Station Launcher here for free: http://launcher.station.sony.com/. To initiate the download of Station Launcher simply click on the "DOWNLOAD BETA" button. Once the download is complete, Station Launcher will serve as your one stop shop for access to all the identified online games except Free Realms, which can be found at www.freerealms.com.
We value having you in our player community and hope that you will find a new home in one of these other SOE games during this trial period.
During the last two weeks that MxO will be available, we intend to initiate a world-ending event and invite our active MxO subscribers with accounts in good standing to participate in bringing Mega City down together. Damn, really? I did not expect them to shut the doors this soon. I'm quite fond of this game; I have acquired some outstanding memories from my experience with it. Count me in for the finale.

I was sad to get the email...and before any of ya'll see me in game and freak out..*takes a deep breath* Since No one in FA was playing..when I resubbed I ended up resubbing with a friend that's mech..so..a few missions later..I'll be conning red to ya'll at the last big battle/event/whatever. I hope you all know it's not because I didn't want to be FA anymore. I've had a great time being in this faction. Met a lot of amazing people and hopefully made some friends. Me going red has nothing to do with just wanting to switch orgs..I just figured I'd spent the last remaining time with folks that are still actually playing.
I hope you guys dominate Darkfall like you did MXO. Who knows..maybe someday I'll get the itch to try DF out. But for now, I'm done with MMO's after mxo shuts its doors. Much love to you all. I will always hold my memories of my time in FA as some of the most fun, funny, energizing times in the game. Take care everyone..as I figure I'll probably be booted from the forums shortly. :p

I had a great time in MxO. From my pre-FA time in The Priory of Zion with Dag, Pirus, Dmax, Subb, and anyone else I'm forgetting, to my joining FA and gaming with you guys until the game started dying and I stopped playing.
Let's make this ending awesome, in a way that only the Furious Angels can. :)

Well I guess it had nearly a 5 year run counting beta.
I'm surprised at how quick it will be shut down. The MMO I played a lot lot before MxO, was MotorCity Online, probably was back in 02-03ish and I recall them giving about a year heads up before close. But, well, we saw this coming just months after release and is unfortunate. I still beleive the game was rushed and fumbled around too many companies, Ubisoft, to Monolith, to Sony, and ultimately left unfinished. And now, Sony, like many other companies, especially games, are suffering from the economy and are cutting products with little to no profit.
I'd be up for having a matrix in-game blowout.

I was looking through the MxO forums, there is a post in there asking to post old pictures and memories. I can't beleive it but I think I fucking lost all my old screens from 2004 and forward. I probably had some pretty sick stuff not many people have seen. Ugh, I'm so upset. I hope I can find stuff on a long last backup I kept somewhere.

Nah, that file is just the installer only 20mb. The patching is almost exactly 2gigs.

I'll be on. I'm still playing around with Bayamos' hacks so I've been doing a lot of logging and re-logging. And I want to collect some more RSI captures from the neighborhood bosses.

So I hopped on to discover I need a new pair of Seraphim shoes. I have a box waiting to be opened, but I need a group of people to do it obviously. I will be free every day this week and during the evenings Wednesday through Friday.

:D The hacks are all client-side, so in the game proper Bellthazor was actually shaking hands with me in a street gang disguise.
Bayamos has released a patch that changes all the street gang RSI captures with Live Event characters. But again, it's all client-side. So unless other people have installed the same patch, they won't see what you see.
One of the RSI captures has been switched with a CSR disguise. When I applied the CSR disguise and then removed it, the "red flame code" effect stuck. I then applied the Morpheus disguise to get CSR_MORPHEUS.
It's fun stuff. You can also access code bomb explosions and other live event effects with a little tweaking in a hex editor. I did some playing around on Sunday and was able to apply the "Unsynchronized Hardline" effect to my RSI. I was surrounded by white light and flowing green code. :D

See that's what I was afraid would happen when I first read Ana's Post. Luckily I re-subbed just under the wire. I hope the rest of you did as well. All in all it might be a good idea to post on this thread (if you haven't already) if you've re-subbed to MxO.

We all need to get practising aswell with PvP etc. since, I'm sure Dag will agree (=P), we were a bit out of touch [especially myself] and since Vector is still pretty hardcore I think it's a good idea to get macroin' and kitted out!

No, you're not out of luck. From what I'm hearing, if you subscribe to the STATION PASS, you'll be able to be back in the Matrix. Granted, you will be charged for June and July, but if you really want in, it sounds like that is the way to do it right now.

Someone on the MXO boards asked the same question. Another person answered saying they spoke with Customer Support prior to June 1st and said that may work, but they couldn't say for sure.

Anyone who isn't level 50 can easily run missions and get to 50! Just an FYI...

These boxes are at least as difficult as PB4's, even more so that these npcs have high viral resistance. Best bet is a mixed (biased toward guns) group of 6 or more people. That said, you get 2 hours to do them.

Here are the hacked files to have your own LE masks. There's a text file included that explains which street gang bosses translate to which LE characters. INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK. BACKUP THE FILES THAT YOU ARE OVERWRITING.

Open your MxO game folder and open the "packmaps" folder. Make a copy of the file "fx.pkb" and keep it somewhere safe. Replace the non-copy with the file provided in the zip file.
Back in your main MxO folder, make a copy of the file "rezmap.ltb" and store it in the same place as the "fx.pkb" backup you made. Replace the non-copy of "rezmap.ltb" with the file provided in the zip file.
Open the RezIDs.txt file in the zip file to look up which RSI you want.

Ya know it just dawned on me... why 255 always seemed to be the max level in this game. It must be because they are using 8-bit integers for character levels hence 2^8 - 1 = 255 max.
