Starting in December and continuing on at a once a month interval FA will be instituting a FA Vector Challenge. What does that mean?
It means that at least once a month we are going to issue a challenge to all the REDS on Vector to come and take us out. What will we do?
We are going to pick a single place in the Matrix, most beneficial to us of course, and hold that spot for the time period posted on the Vector Boards.
What are the rules?
There aren't any friggin rules.
The post will look something like this but feel free to think up some ideas and put them here.
Ready to clip some wings? Well time to put up or shut up Vector. Words will only take you so far in this world and the rest falls to deeds and actions so if you think you got what it takes time to show it.
On *insert date* and from *insert time-insert time* You'll find us waiting for you inside the Matrix. We'll pick our spot and if you think you can muscle us out... and keep us out during the time indicated.... Well then just give it a shot.
What's in it for you? Nothin' other than the fact you get to come back here and post that you've beatin us at our own game. That is if you can.
What are the rules? There are none... This is Vector people PVP central. Anything goes.
It's an idea we've all talked about before and it's time we get back into the game with a vengeance. Oh and we are going to schedule this at a time when all members can have a shot at participating... Why? Because it's gonna be mandatory.
Once a month isn't asking much so I think we should be able to set it up for a time when we all can be there.

However, and I've expressed this previously, I think the only rule should be that both sides have to unload all hyper-jump abilities. Bragging rights should be null and void if you flee from battle. :)
I already have a few good locations in mind. Remote places that don't necessarily lend well to massive PvP.

They should definitely have to find us. If we give a set location, they'll just camp it until we log on.
Speaking of which, I think it would be great if we all got on TS beforehand and did a synchronized jack-in. The night before a particular FA challenge, we discuss the location for the next day's event and all jack-out at that spot. That way, we all jack-in at the exact same moment at the exact location, and there's no waiting for people to show up.
Then we just have to wait for the reds to show up and let the fun begin.

How about we make Lits the team recaller? She could stow away in a building nearby, recalling us after we've reconstructed. I'm sure any one of us would not only be able to help her lvl but would be willing to make sure she had all the abilities she needs to help us out. Hell we could make her a healer / buffer as well so right after she's recalled us she can buff us up and then we're out the door, ready for another round of kicking ass.
Also to expand on what I posted before. My idea would be to have each FA member at a different location within whatever district we'll be fighting in so that the reds will see us on their /who wherever they go in the district but that they wont see all of us. Then at the predetermined time we all get recalled to the spot and wait them to find us.

I can code whatever abilities needed for a team recaller.
I'd also be more than happy to photoshop up a nice little advert for DN1 to get this advertised.
And I just realized that my "No Hyperjumping" idea won't work if we're going to hold these challenges outside of Richland, with all the Agents out and about. A few level 100 Agents could work in our favor, but not so much when they start spawning on us. Oh well. :(

This is something we really need to work on. I know people are busy, and stuff comes up that's out of our hands. But it's been months since we've all been online.
It's hard to find a reason to play when none of your faction mates are jacked in. And Vector has been more or less a ghost town overall lately.

I will be the primary healer with recall (team and single), as usual.
Although, it would be nice to have a secondary healer/buffer in case every sniper, rifleman, and MKT try to target me at once.

Actually I thought a good first spot would be the bottom of Creston Heights Dungeon by the teleporter. Could you imagine a red walking into that small room with FA standing there and everyone having a Nuker Sim Loaded up?
Just a thought.... Though the Dojo in Saikung C is always a good place to rumble as well. Wherever we pick we have to make sure that we have the ground advantage. Think of a place where we can make sure snipers/sneakers will have only a single entry point that we can keep an eye on.
I'm thinking that 2nd weekend in December...? What say you? Fri or Sat night... that's plenty of notice plus we'll be able to time it better on a weekend for our overseas folks.

Let's finalize the date to December 14th or 15th.... Usually weekends work best for people gives more time. But if any day of the week of the 10th works better let's use that...
I should be up and running before then but like I said I'm gone all next week. Find some good places in game and get your builds set... We all know what we are good at.
Also if someone wants to do some artwork or something for a post rock that out for us.
I'd like to have this posted the first of December to give everyone a chance to get in.
Might not be to bad of an idea to maybe get a few of the liassons in on it if we even have any on Vector anymore. Maybe they'll want to do a RP thing out of it... Who knows.

Take your date out the day that we don't have our thing. The point of giving you guys a time now is so you can plan ahead. Plan your "date" on the opposite night of what we're doing. It's not that hard.

alright let's figure out the time now... What is the best time for our Euro friends so that they can join us. Remember that we can't be to to early but we definatley don't want to start at a time so late that you guys can't join in.

I'll be there. Afternoons or evenings usually work best for me, but I will free up my schedule if it means getting the Euro folk in on it. The more of us we can have on, the better.

Don't forget also that a large number of reds and FA allies are in Europe.
PST = 8 hours behind us, EST = 5 hours behind us. Ergo, I wouldn't want to start later than 8PM, so 12PM PST or 3PM EST. That's just my opinion though, I know a lot of the kids on the boards prefer to come on later.

I might well be one of those "older" kids; personally 10pm gmt is best for me; that gives time for wife and to put young harry to bath and bed. Given it is a saturday however I could start either one hour later or one or two hours earlier. In any event I would be good to play until 0100hrs the sunday morning.

Okay... We are going to rehash this one more time... I've gotten a few PM's from people who won't be able to make it on the 15th due to the Holiday stuff and it appears lots of stuff does take place during the weekends in December. Would we be better off hitting this during the week say on a Wed. Thur. or Fri?
We need to absolutley make sure we do it after the 10th (for Tbone to be there) and at a time and date when we can maximize the number of players in game.
I myself am finding some scheduling conflicts on the next few Saturday so would doing this during the week be better for us.
PLEASE POST A RESPONSE SO WE KNOW HOW TO SET THIS ALL UP!!!

Also, do we want to get the devs and/or CSR's in on this? I know Brewko and 9mmfu have helped out with player events in the past. There have been some server-wide announcements congratulating the recent Vector Cup winners. And from what I can tell thus far, Virrago is surpassing Raijinn in every aspect as Community Relations Manager.
I'd be willing to send a friendly PM here or there. It couldn't hurt to get some official promotion.

Friday December 14th at 5:30 FA time.... I think that would be 10:30 for our over seas folks so that's not to terribly late.
Let's plan on running it for at least an hour. The post should probably specify an hours worth of time and then we'll go further in our ass kicking if need be.

I'm posting this reply at 2:12 Mountain Time, which is one hour behind Central. I'm looking at the FA clock, and it reads 4:12, which is two hours ahead of me. If FA time is Central Time, then the FA clock should read 3:12.

The clock for me is showing 3:17, which is Central Time. I live in the Eastern Time Zone, so much clock is 4:17 on my computer.
It also shows 3:17 for Bellthazor, as well.

Okay so if the clock is right then 5:30 FA time would be only 10:30 for our overseas guys right and 6:30 for our Eastern people.
I think that's about the best time we can do so that it's not to late for them or so early over here that most of our members aren't home from work or school yet.

If FA Time = CDT then FAT/CDT is GMT minus 6 hours
EST is GMT minus 5 hours
CDT is EST minus 1 hour
5:30 CDT = 11:30 GMT
5:30 CDT = 6:30 EST

Another Idea, what if we gave a real life prize to anyone who kills an FA, perhaps something from our CafePress website. Better yet, for who ever is the last Red standing (or kills the most FA) they get a specially designed item that acknowledges their achievement which we in turn have Cafe Press make up and we send it to them.
I think that'd be something no other faction has done. thoughts?

You know initially I saw this as a type of King of the Hill event. where we staked out our piece of dirt and challenged any and all to come take us out and keep us out of the area. No rules barred because that is what Vector is all about. Now with that said, no rules, it would allow other Zion to get involved as well which would all it to be a org/sever wide type of pvp event.
If we are going to have a winner or winners then we'll have to figure out a way to determine it. Usually that means rules which kind of goes agasint the no rules barred.
A easy way to do it may be to simply have the attackers keep screenshots of how many FA they kill and the ones with the most kills get the prize.
Suggestions? Whatever we decide to do we need to figure it out soon. I'd like to have the post up and out on the Vector boards this week. Wed at the latest would be good.

Having them take screenshots of each kill of each FA member would be best, I think, much like the past events where you've had to accumulate kills to get a prize, whatever it may be.

Also, taking SS's while in a populated PvP zone lags them a bit :D so all the better for us!

I just looked on DN1 and didn't see anything atleast not in vector discussion or events.. Im assuming it will be posted in both of those sections.

Keep in mind that this event isn't about winning. Or at least, it shouldn't be, if we're expecting the entirety of Vector's Mach/Merv population to show up. We will definitely be in the minority.
The point of this event is to get FA active again. To fill our TS channel to the brim, and have some fun as a faction.

DN1 works on a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) format for forum posts. The formatting buttons above the actual text box can be used to add images, change text color and size, alter text alignment (left/center/right), etc. It should be pretty self explanatory.

Alright folks... I hope you all... and I mean all realize how ON this event is going to be.
Just from what I've been getting in PM's and what not from the boards we are going to be facing a massive onslaught of REDS next Friday.
We need everyone.... AND I MEAN EVERYONE. To be in there and on their A game.
My power supply is on the way in and I should be up and running by Monday at the latest. I plan on spending my time getting HP, Tactic Boosters, Anti's, The contsruct Pills, and any and all clothing equipment members might need to give them and us the edge. So get your build sorted and ready and get your pills and whatever else you need together.

I'll be coding pills and TB's tonight. I didn't even think about the Shadow pills. Those would be good to have on hand since they have a high chance to hit and deal a hefty amount of damage.

They are farmed from the org area simulacrums. They reproduce two of the old "wall run" animations (without the wall) and the new "razor attack" animation that the Twins can perform.

In the org contsructs now when you defeat the simulacran that is spawned when you activate the computer the Sim now drops Shadow Pills
Shadow Wall Kick Pills
Shadow Razor Pills
Shadow Phoenix Pills
These pills are basically special animation pills that have a higher chance to hit and also do a cool animation when you are in interlock. They are usabel by anyone.
Each org area has a different pill I can't remember which is which. I think Zion gets the Shadow Razor pills... You can search them on the MXO boards and get some intel on them.

Doesn't sound particularly strategic. I imagine the IS regen pills, etc. would be better to focus on.

It'd be pretty good for the MA's... Though I'd love to have more IS pills. Perhaps divide up into two seperate teams one going for the ShadowPills the others going for the Data Node Drops

LOL... Yotogi suggested a real world reward. Like a shirt that says I survived the FA challenge and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt.
Or a copy of the FA challenge poster design Manic did with some type of something on it. I got those extra set of Patchers Bandana and the quicksilver gloves from Rarebit when he messed up on our rewards. And I got lots of info in game. We'll figure something out :D

guys; have in mind that the MA pills dont have to be used by an MA; also, they do very nice damage without using ISl; until next wednesday my time in game will be sporadic (my little boy is getting christened and we have a lot of houseguests). I have 3 pills but would kill to farm some more next week.
I also have a lot of quicksilver pills.

I think the idea is if they come up against ANY FA they're going to be challenged - how many times have those of us who don't seek out PvP still trounced a bunch of reds of an evening ;)
It'd be embarrassing if only a handful show up, but we already have confirmed numbers for at least one team.

Alright it is time to decide on our winners, and what they will be getting. I have a few extra in game items I can part with. Quicksiler gloves, Patcher Bandana, maybe even a overdrvie bandana.
