This topic may bring up subjects that are narcotic and illegal in nature.

You have been warned.

A friend has told me that there is a way that you can get a serious buzz off of a combination of 'Monster' energy drinks and 'skittles', i.e., Sudafed. I don't believe him for anything about the sudafed, but I can almost believe the Monster part (that stuff has messed up my system before) and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any truth to this and/or could corroborate it.

Sadly it is true, but not Sudafed, for it is an sinus problems and not a cough syrup. There is a medicine in cough syrups that produce a high, but the catch 22 is the fact you have to drink alot. SOme much in fact that it can hospitalize you, this happened to a close friends kid and he went to the hospital because while some of his friend when in to critcial condition. Do not try it has kill people before. I am just glad that everyone was alright with what happened to my friend's son.

Nope, not codine. It's actually...

...called dextromethorphan hydrobromide, or DXM for short. (Yes, I spelled that all without checking/copy.pasting.) It CAN be found in pure form, but is legally and widly available in aformentioned syrups.

In lower dosages, it's kinda like just being a bit tipsy. Anyone who's taken a dose of nyquill, and then an etra half dose "just to be safe and put you to sleep" knows the feeling. In higher dosages it kinda knocks you on your ass. Similar to K, but without the out of body-eyes rolled to the back of your head-"I can't move and it feels so good"-feeling.

It's a dirty dirty drug. For me, the high felt nasty and distorted, and while there is no link to brain damage, everyone I know (actually KNEW) who did it for fun is a god damn moron...

BTW, I haven't touched any drug for over 2 years... This was once about 5 years ago. This is just left over knowledge.

Also, for more info... (do I sound like an afterschool special yet?)

http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/dxm.shtml

Read the first link there, the FAQ.

Then look for cool pictures, like the molecular structure....

Whats found in the Cough Syrup for making you "tipsy" aka Purple Drank is Codiene.

After reading the DEA FAQ.  It seems the drug you are talking about Fuse is directly related to Codiene.

The first line of the first link.

"How is cough syrup obtained? Codeine cough syrup is available by prescription from physicians or through the illegal drug market (often at "syrup houses")."

Codeine sough syrups are only available by prescription. DXM is in many OTC cough meds.

----

but while we're on it... I love Codeine. Now, THAT I have done recently due to a bad cough I had a few months ago. No shit on the dependancy part. WHEW!

Allow me to rephrase this: If my friend suddenly thinks that downing a Mega Monster drink and eight 10mg Sudafed won't hurt him, should I be worried?

LOL sorry sared, *guilty look on face for throwing topic way off*

I don't think downing eight 10mg sudafed is a good idea to start with...  I don't know anything about the drug, nor am I a doctor in any way shape or form... So we'll start by assuming the only size caplet you can get is 10mg. (unless there are kids versions)

Typical warning on any medication:  Taking more than the recommended dose may cause liver damage. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

- adults and children 12 years of age and over: 2 caplets every 6 hours while symptoms persist (is it just me or does that say while symptoms persist, does your friend have symptoms or just doing this for shits and gigles?)
- do not take more than 8 caplets in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor (so 8 in a day max... so it says...at least your friend is staying in that range)

If you want an honest opinion dude, "Downing a Mega Monster drink and 8 10mg Sudafed" is not a good idea.  You should be worried.
