Combat 2.0 Screenshot

Walrus posted the first screen shot of the new system.

I am concerned about the hotbar. Discuss.

Don't believe everything you think.

Yea just about everyone including me who saw that on the thread asked for more than one hotbar at once.  Its only necessary now.

I dunno...looks like they are turning it into every other MMO now. Are the animations not going to line up anymore? You can throw movie making with fights out the window.

Interlock is still going to be interlock.  Just not Multi interlock.

TMI Manic...TMI. lol

Well the rumor mill is at a high.  Bonopi pmed me that the QA is tentatively schedualed for next week and they planned their Player Event for the 23rd of Dec.  How he got this info is anyones guess.

That screenshot may be only the initiation of interlock. Maybe the "line up" of abilities come after this initial hit. I'm guessing that because they said they're "not taking away interlock" and that the "animation between moves is going to be shorter". So each move will still have a start and end before the next.

The hotbar does concern me.  If we have to reserve half our hotbar just for basic melee attacks, then they really need to consider re-tooling the way the hotbar works.

I'm glad they're getting rid of the, what Orien called the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" animations.  Where it shows each character rolling a number and their chosen abilities clashing together.  That was the first thing that ever bugged me about combat.  It always got in the way of the fighting.

The green targeting reticles are awesome.  This way you can actually see who is fighting who in a massive battle.  I'm surprised this wasn't implemented in the current system.

I'm betting we'll get QA on either tuesday or thursday of next week.  Those have so far seemed to be the set dates for when they release a patch or hotfix.  Walrus should post a new "Looking Glass" this afternoon.  No doubt he'll be digging into his bag of subtle hints.

Yea hotbars seem to be on everyone's mind right about now. Let's hope they don't screw up the game with this though, you know know what could happen when they turn it into anoter generic MMO.
