Hitler and Nazi's man.

On an unrelated note, I got back blood test results from an exam I had to do for a life insurance policy. The reason I bring it up is because I am very happy with these results. At my last physical in September, I had some revelations about my health. Without getting too technical, I was 35% over my ideal weight, I had high blood pressure, at risk for gout, high resting heart rate, very high triglyceride levels, below "healthy" levels of HDL (good) cholesterol and high LDL levels and generally at risk for coronary heart disease. Also I was Vitamin D deficient, my testosterone levels were very low (also bad for the heart and my swimmers) and my thyroid panel had abnormal results. I was 27.

As of two weeks ago, only 15% overweight and all vitals and bloodwork is in the normal and healthy range save for a borderline elevated triglyceride count.

Booyakasha!

That's pretty cool, Dagonet! Did you just diet or did you also add exercise into your regimen? I'm beginning to think that I might want to take up P90x this summer, or at the very least start a workout regimen to beef up.

Ademaro, I currently live in the West Michigan area, but go to Michigan State during the school year.

Bah... plastic state for plastic people. East Coast is where it's at.

And by 'At' I mean where all of Russia's old nuclear weapons are pointed.

Diet & Exercise. Nothing extreme, I cut back a lot on salt and sugar, and I get to the gym on average 3.5 days a week (mixed low/high intensity cardio and occasional 3x12 circuit weights). P90X doesn't seem sustainable to me personally, which is more what I was going for.

West Coast vs East Coast
I feel I'm actually uniquely qualified to address this debate having lived half my life in Califonia
-LA
-San Diego
-San Francisco/Bay Area

and the other half on the eastern seaboard
-boarding school and college in PA
-currently in MD
-was in DC
-9 years in VA-northern and rural
-cumulative summers spent with family in Atlanta

and with lots of vacation time both in west coast locations (not a complete list)
-Monterey/Carmel
-Disney Land
-Portland & Mt. St. Helens
-Tahoe
-Yellowstone

and east coast locales (not a complete list)
-NYC
-Boston
-Portland/Old Orchard Beach Maine
-St. Simon's Georgia
-Disney World
-Cape Hatteras/Nags Head

I'm also going to mention that I've spent a large amount of time in the Midwest since I've been with my wife to tell you all this - The majority of the bat shit crazy people live on the coasts, both of them. I'm pretty sure this is a per capita/population density thing though.

The reason I bring this up though is to point out that it's unfair to judge a place by it's loudmouthed people. All you ever hear about on the news are people who are attention whores, righteous do-gooders, or both.

Also, when you love a place, you learn to glaze over the harsher aspects of it. Like San Francisco, my favorite city, but they have horrible problems with the homeless. I don't focus on that though when I'm trying to sell it as a destination for people.

OK so the winner?
West Coast beats the east coast in weather (except gulf coast parts of Florida) and the Sierra Nevadas beat the Appalachians.

In terms of historic landmarks, cities, national history, etc. East Coast hands down. Day trip around Annapolis has a much cooler nostalgic feeling than a day trip around La Jolla.

Atlantic Coast Florida and SoCal have similar beaches with pretty people, so I'll give that a tie. If you want to argue gulf coast Florida, I'll counter with Hawaii.

If you're a Type A person, East Coast, if you enjoy animal style double-double, West Coast.

Microcenter vs Fry's tie (although now Microcenter has made it out to CA)

Education goes to East Coast because it has more numerous old school institutions, Stanford Campus and Palo Alto though nearly tip the scales in West Coast's favor.

Friendly computer/gamer nerd environment handily goes to the west coast. Seattle/Redmond area, Silicon Valley, San Diego.

Sports teams it's hard to say unless you narrow down the sport, even then Gretzky played for both LA and NY before retiring (lets just ignore the Canadian and St. Louis years). I'll say tie on this one because sports team allegiances transcend location (I will always be a 49ers fan). Oh and fuck the Yankees.

Governance, goes to the east coast. Say what you will about DC politics, California has a way more screwed up approach to fixing problems.

There are more categories but I'll stop there and make a conclusion. I like the old world charm of the east coast, but my heart still longs for a return to west coast.
If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

Choose the color of your bike seat carefully!

And, in other news, two of my roommates just called me from the bar. I really, really miss them. :(
