Title: New Agency Ranks
Post by: Tbone on November 26, 2008, 03:13:03 pm
A lot of you were asking and making comments about the new ranks, so I thought I'd post them here. This is just a rough draft and I am very open to suggestions - like I heard Black Ops, etc. being thrown around. Here's the current setup:

*DEPUTY DIRECTOR (formerly Lt. Commander)
*ASSOCIATE DEPUTY (formerly Captains)
*DIRECTOR (formerly Commander)
Intern 1
Pencil Pusher 51
In Training 101
Agent 201
Field Agent 501
Special Agent 1001
Secret Agent 1501
*CLASSIFIED 2001

* denotes special rank that is in bold and changes the color of your entire profile window!

Obviously this needs some adjustments. Associate Deputy really doesn't work. Secret Agent is being called cheesy. Agent is pretty plain. Let me know what adjustments you make and I'll try to make them cool sounding ;)

"Secret Agent" could become "Top Agent"?

I was thinking "Elite" could be it's own rank.  Or "Shadow".

This has a brief overview of various spy "ranks":

I like "Asset" and "Case Officer".  "Cutout" seems too vague, so "Courier" might work better.

I think 2000+ should be: Lt. Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell

Hmm, a double agent is someone working for both sides. Hopefully we don't have a double agent in our ranks, and it certainly shouldn't be one of our top positions. Heh

Also a hacker I think would be a specialist that normally works an office and would be brought in and protected by a field agent. Since the field agent would be running the mission, I'd say a field agent is actually a higher rank than a database hacker, which is more of a specialist than an actual field-trained agent.

I think the leader titles are a step in the right direction though. Certainly better than "Assistant Deputy" that I came up with...lol.

Well, the sense in which I meant Double Agent seeing as how our forums are our forums. We would see it as a "Person who pretends to work for the other side but really just leaks us the information."

Not all Double Agents are Neutral and don't care for either side and just take the money.

However, I can see your point and it would just be too much of a hassle to really explain... as i just did.

..

:D

Maybe, Just have Database Hacker and then Field Agent like you said.

ooo Division Leader is nice...

but Director? Not very intimidating. I think you could stick with Commander, after all, spy agencies work on a militaristic outline, do they not?

And there was some mention of incorporation things like "field agent" and "black ops" agents....or do we want to keep those for divisions that used be "rp" and "pvp"?
