Title: Raid Group #2 Scheduling
Post by: Tbone on January 26, 2012, 05:11:54 pm
Here's the current group. Unfortunately we are short on DPS and healers, so if you can't make it, please try to find a replacement:

Group 2: 8 man on weeknights T,W,Th 11-2 am Server Time
Raid Leader and Point of Contact: Tbone
Loot: Need rolls initially, followed by alternating loot. Final bosses are free rolls.
Difficulty: Hard (Normal as well if time permits)
Sign-ups: Permanent roster has priority. Signing up for Tuesday locks you in for all three nights. If you can't make all three, priority goes to someone who can. Alternates can sign up on Tues, Wed, or Thurs. Permanent roster doesn't guarantee spot - based on who signs up first and what is needed.

Tanks
Ratio - Trooper Tank
Ademaro - Shadow Tank

Healers
Anamodiel - Consular Healer

DPS
Tbone - Knight (Sentinel) DPS
Broin - Consular DPS
Sared - Smuggler DPS

Scheduling priority is given to anyone officially in the group in the order that they confirm. Anyone can sign up on stand by.

Please sign up on our Raid Calendar (http://followtheangel.org/index.php?module=HTML%20Pages&func=display&pid=18)

These people still need to verify for tonight:

Tanks
Pendas - Knight (Guardian) Tank
Roryn - Consular (Shadow) Tank

DPS
Setun - Trooper DPS
ArchNemesis - Smuggler DPS

If you won't communicate with us at all, I'm going to try to replace you on the roster.

It looks like the 16 man will not be getting off the ground this week. When I get home ill sign up for dps or heals in case you need a replacement.

I'll be there tonight. Consular DPS. You'll see me online.

Confirmed for tonight:

Ratio
Vanhouten

Healers:
Sared
Anamodiel

DPS:
Tbone
Longboard
Broin
Requiem

Alternates:

Strod
Tecknik

Being Removed:
Archnemesis (not level 50)
Setun (not level 50)

If there was a Weekend group for raiding, I'd be more than in for it, or possibly a early morning crew, I'd also be down for it.

On a side note, I will be getting my start date for my new job, soon, so I may end up being on for raids for next week.  I'll keep yall posted on that.

I will not be able to make it.  I have family aggro that will not disappear in time. Sorry!

Spoke to Strod and he said he will take my DPS spot.

The original "raiding in FA" thread had sign-ups and split up all those who showed interest into groups. The weekend group just hasn't really started yet because EE was unavailable last weekend. I'm not sure whats going to happen this weekend yet, but I know that there are enough people interested, so keep your eye out Ominari.

I will be keeping an eye out for it, right now I have been pugging into groups to get the content down.

So far, 45 minute EV is the fastest run I have been in, with 1 wipe on SOA.

Great job tonight! We did EV hard mode and got down the first three bosses! I assume who was here tonight is available for tomorrow and Thursday.

Tomorrow we'll finish up EV hard mode (hopefully!) and then start Karragga's Palace. We'll probably do it on normal mode first since a few people haven't been through it yet (myself included).

Please let me know if you can't make! Also don't forget to do your HM flashpoints to get your Columi!

The raid tomorrow will be starting an hour earlier, at 9 p.m. FA. If you helped out Raid group #1 tonight, please let them know so they can find replacements! If they can't find replacements, we may have to adjust, but this is the plan for now!

We're making a few attempts at the final bosses MONDAY after the interviews!

Sign ups are up for next week. Sign up for the 7th if you are available for all three nights. We'll be doing +10 datacron before/after the interviews, but once that's done we'll take a few shots at the bosses.

We still need more permanent members of the raid. Some of you I'm not sure about (Tecknik? Vanhouten?). Please let me know which group you'll be going with.

Unless you can't find an off-tank, I'm going to try and move back into Group #1.  Finishing up raiding at 12-12:30am and then getting up at 4:30am for work gets pretty rough.   I'll be there tonight to clean up what we've cleared already, though.

So far we are short one DPS and one off-tank for tomorrow. Pendas is on our roster, but I haven't heard from him yet.

I am available to fill any DPS and/or off-tank spot. Im not signed into any Raid Group... even though I ran EV with Raid Group #3 on Saturday, I think I managed to get into the group because someone else was missing.

That said... Raid Group #2 Schedule works best for me and I can assure my presence since im home at that time every week day but Friday.

Tonight we took down Karagga Hard Mode! Congrats everyone!!!

We could still use another healer and DPS for our permanent roster!

Post by: Anamodiel on February 07, 2012, 01:16:00 am
The week of the 20th-24th, I will only be available Thursday the 23rd. I need a healer to take my spot for those two days.

As well, I will be on Spring Break from March 3-10. I will need a healer to take over for me that entire week as well.
Title: Raid Group #2 Scheduling
Post by: Tbone on February 07, 2012, 04:15:09 pm
Ok, we should have the group for this week. Even though Pendas signed up first, he's only available for one of the three nights. Lithium is available for all three nights, so we're going with him.

Longboard and Baobinga, can I add you two to the permanent roster?

It was also brought up to me that the loot rules may not be fair - particularly concerning the final bosses. We discussed them on Thursday and last night, but I figured I would further go into it and we can discuss the pros and cons until we come to a consensus.

For the regular bosses, it's need before greed (in other words, those that don't have the item get priority naturally). Those that need the item both get a roll out of 100. Winner takes that item and then is locked out of getting gear until the others in his class get gear. In other words, a rotation is naturally formed after the roll.

What we talked about on Thursday was having FINAL bosses (Soa and Karagga) out of that rotation so that each person has an equal chance of getting the final boss loot. This is done since it is less likely that the final bosses will be downed. It also prevents someone from "passing" on the loot right before the boss in order to lock someone else out and guarantee them the final boss gear if it drops.

What we talked about on Monday was whether or not Soa and Karagga should be on a separate rotation (so that if you get a drop from Karagga, you are locked out of Soa). It was decided that since they have similar loot tables, no one would be locked out assuming they don't already have the item (this keeps the motivation for everyone to grind out the boss while still keeping the likelihood that someone new will get loot since chances are repeat loot will be dropped).

All rotations/lockouts reset at the end of the week, so Tuesday starts fresh rolls again.

If someone has a different/better option, please feel free to share it. It might be simpler to keep final bosses in the rotation of the other bosses, for instance, or have Karagga and Soa lock someone out of loot if they get one or the other. We'll also discuss it tonight before we get started.

Good job tonight guys! I think we only wiped one time on a boss! Tomorrow we can devote the whole time to Soa! Hopefully it won't take three hours, but at least we have that luxury!
Title: Raid Group #2 Scheduling
Post by: Anamodiel on February 09, 2012, 09:00:15 am
I know I posted this once, but no one has responded.

Next week I will not be available Thursday. I can't help it, I have responsibilities that will make it impossible for me to attend. I need a healer for that night. If a Consular wants to respec, that might be easier and we could bring a DPS in one night. If it comes down to it, I can hold off participating for the entirety of next week if you want a consistent group.

The week of the 20th-24th, I will only be available Thursday the 23rd. I need a healer to take my spot for those two days. It's midterm week, sorry. School comes first, no matter how sad it makes me.

As well, I will be on Spring Break from March 3-10. I will need a healer to take over for me that entire week as well.

Well, after three hours, Soa still evades us. I think we would have had it the one time he bugged out on us.

We might make a few more attempts on Saturday and Sunday night. Possibly again on Monday. If you're an alternate, this might be a good chance to possibly score on a Soa kill. I know for sure not everyone can be there Monday. Just make sure you're geared to the teeth best you can!

Got him down to 4%, I believe. We were consistently getting him down to 10% towards the end. Good run tonight, especially considering we had a lot of people outside of our normal group! Thanks Mharz, Jeyk, and Viccar!

Ratio was a no show and considered MIA. Remember to shoot me a message if something comes up (email, PM, text, whatever).

Tomorrow night we'll be missing Ratio, Anamodiel, and Broin. We might still be able to pull it off with Mharz, Jeyk, and Viccar if they're all willing to jump in again tomorrow!

And before I head out:

From patch notes 1.1.4 (not live yet):

Eternity Vault
Casting Mind Trap will no longer cause Soa to lose threat against his primary target.

Which means that he currently de-taunts while casting mind-trap on on completion. Either way, it's not worth taunting while he's casting, only when he's done. It's just a minor timing thing, but it might help out for overall awareness since taunting just before or during mind trap might be a wasted taunt.

Yeah, I was just coming on here to post this. Apparently this bug has been in for at least two weeks (i.e. since we've been fighting him). This would explain why we've had such a tough time while those who have come before us had an easier time with it.

Knowing this bug, we might be able to overcome it. At the very least, once it's fixed we should be golden for Soa since we're consistently getting to Phase 3.

Ratio, Broin, Anamodiel out tonight.

Vanhouten, Arawn in. Strod switching to heals. Room for one more DPS.

Going to attempt Soa and then possible Normal Mode.
Title: Raid Group #2 Scheduling
Post by: Tbone on February 16, 2012, 11:31:34 pm
We made a few attempts and got to the third phase, even with people who had never done the raid before! We had to end it abruptly however, so we'll wait for next week when the fix Soa.

On a similar note, I had to remove Lithium from the raid group. We desperately need more tanks. Arawn has offered to switch to tank, so I'm hoping this will make Ratio main tank and Arawn off tank.

Next week we have an open DPS slot since Anamodiel will be out and Strod is switching to heals. If you can be there all three nights, you'll get priority.

Very good run tonight! We downed Karagga HM, went all the way through EV, and downed Soa HM after just two tries!

Arawn wasn't able to join us, so Jeyk subbed in. It was a very lucky night for Jeyk. Arawn, this is what you missed: two Rakata mainhands, an offhand, boots, gloves, and two Columi implants. Good pull Jeyk!

All of this could be YOURS if you sign up as an alternate! Strod and Ratio were the lucky recipients of a Rakata chestpiece courtesy of Soa *mumble mumble*.

Tomorrow night we are doing normal mode runs of both (hopefully) in order to get Biometric Crystal Alloys! We're still not sure if Arawn will be joining us, and I don't think Jeyk is available tomorrow, so we may be looking for another offtank/DPS!

Thanks Virtopia for stepping in!

We did both raids on normal mode in 2 hours. EV only took 45 minutes. Karagga took an hour. There were no wipes!

In our Biometric Crystal Alloy rotation, Tbone and Strod were left one short. That means next week we'll make sure that both of us get three in the rotation (and whoever is left out of the third for that week will be guaranteed the week after).

People were also curious to do Nightmare Mode. I'll leave it up to you guys. Apparently we can switch back to hard at any time, so we can try and then switch back if need be.

Nice things to have (Nightmare version):
1. Armor Reduction. (20%)
 a. Provided by Gunslinger, Guardian, Commando (DPS)
 b. The Gunslinger version is 45s duration 4.5s cooldown. There is no reason this shouldn't be 100% of the time on every boss... or bosses, for that matter.
 c. Guardian and Commando versions require time to build up to 20% as they are both 4% reduction with 5 stacks possible.

2. Accuracy Reduction. (5%)
 a. Provided by: Guardian, Shadow (Tank-ish)
 b. Guardians have to talent into Dust Storm, but there's no reason they shouldn't be, regardless of spec--it's a first tier talent and too good to pass up. (18s duration, 15s cooldown)
 c. Shadows can only get this in Combat Technique (Force Breach). (18s duration, 15s cooldown)

3. Damage Reduction (4%/5%)
 a. Provided by: Vanguard, Shadow (Tank). Both can use this AoE on a max of five targets. Vanguard is PBAoE, Shadow is 10m AoE.
 b. Vanguard is the 4% version. First tier talent on a primary single target damage ability (Ion Pulse) and PBAoE (Explosive Surge)--again, no excuse not to have it. (15s duration, 1.5s cooldown)
 c. Shadows in full tank spec (requires Slow Time) get 5%. Downside: it costs 30 force. (18s duration, 7.5s cooldown)

4. Increased Armor (10%)
 a. Provided by Sage (Heal), Commando (Heal); Sages are preferred because they can maintain 100% uptime, Commandos can maintain 75% uptime by default. Commandos can maintain 100% uptime if they use the Supercharge Cells proc for AMP every 9 seconds.
 b. Sage requires talents: Rejuvenate, Force Shelter. (15s duration, 6s cooldown)
 c. Commando requires talent: Medical Screen. (9s duration, 12s cooldown) Sort of requires talent: Supercharge Cells for maximum effectiveness.

Strod and I both have this. If I recall, it stacks, so we always need to be cognizant of keeping this up on the main tank.

b. The Gunslinger version is 45s duration 4.5s cooldown. There is no reason this shouldn't be 100% of the time on every boss... or bosses, for that matter.
c. Guardian and Commando versions require time to build up to 20% as they are both 4% reduction with 5 stacks possible.

Specced correctly, a Guardian can have their Armor Reduction stacked to the full 20% in around three seconds (being generous) using two abilities and a total of 4 focus.
Requires top of Defense tree (Guardian Slash) and two points in the Improved Sundering Strike perk on the first tier of the Vigilance tree.  Sundering Strike has a 5 second cooldown.  There is no reason that the 5 stacks should be lost once on the target.

Yes. I can apply the full 5stacks (20% armor redux) in 2 GCD and the 5% Acc reduction is usually my third skill of the rotation.

And btw my armor redux stacks with the commando's
Title: Raid Group #2 Scheduling
Post by: Ratio on February 24, 2012, 05:43:49 pm
Actually, nothing stacks. More like overlaps.

2 10% armor buffs = 10% armor buff.
3 20% armor reductions = 20% armor reduction.
1 4% damage reduction + 1 5% damage reduction = 5% damage reduction.

This is not true for personal armor penetration, etc. Only for things that also apply to others. In other words, if the debuff works for other people, it will not stack--only the highest value will be used. If the buff works only for you, it will stack.

For example: If the boss is at 20% armor debuff, and you have a personal 10% armor ignore self buff and a 60% armor penetration on an ability, then you'd be at 90% armor reduction for that skill.

The real advantage to having group buff/debuff redundancy is that if one falls off, the others will probably still be there.

/edit

More to the point: If group affecting debuffs and buffs stacked, you'd be wasting time running with anything other than Shadow (Tank), Sage (Heal), Commando (Heal), Commando (DPS), Guardian (DPS), Vanguard, Gunslinger and one other random DPS. The game is designed for flexibility, not to make one operation setup be the end all be all.

Sign ups are up for this week.

2/28-3/1

If you're on the permanent roster, sign up on Tuesday. Alternates sign up on the day you are available.

I have not received confirmation from Arawn that he is back in game. Right now I'm under the assumption we're still missing an off-tank.

I'm moving on Wednesday. I should have everything set up by raid time, but just giving a heads up in case.

Signing up for Tuesday nights raid I'll for sure be there... A bit undergrared ATM and grinding out gear as best as possible via flash points and dailies... As of the week of the 3/2 and further I will be available to make every raid

Confirmed myself for this Tuesday, however I told Tbone earlier that I'd be willing to bench if you can find a better geared tank for this Tuesday. I will be running all flash-points tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday pre-raid and with my fingers crossed get some good luck on gear drops and people that want to run the hard modes...

As of now I have a few tionese pieces and one columi piece... The rest are pretty well modded oranges ATM

Nice things to have (Nightmare version):

2. Accuracy Reduction. (5%)
 a. Provided by: Guardian, Shadow (Tank-ish)
 b. Guardians have to talent into Dust Storm, but there's no reason they shouldn't be, regardless of spec--it's a first tier talent and too good to pass up. (18s duration, 15s cooldown)
 c. Shadows can only get this in Combat Technique (Force Breach). (18s duration, 15s cooldown)

Vanguards also have smoke bomb for 5% accuracy reduction provided you trait it 1 point in shield spec forget which tier and cant check as im at work

Smoke Grenade is 18s duration, 60s recast, 20% accuracy reduction. There's a lot of useful (and more situational) mini buffs like Smoke Grenade, Inspiration, etc. that are on longer recasts.

What I've listed are buffs and debuffs that can be maintained 100% of the time... and should be.

Amazing job tonight everyone!

We definitely reached a milestone. Even with Ademaro, who had never done a SWTOR raid before, we cleared Karagga and EV HM in a single night, with no wipes, and with 10 minutes to spare!

Furthermore, we have our first person who has a complete set of Rakata, yours truly! It pays to be the only Knight in the group currently!

Next up is normal mode. We need an eighth, and it's a good chance to get a LOT of Columi gear!

Congrats again everyone!

Sign-ups are up for this week's raiding. We are down Anamodiel, so we'll need one more to take that spot (either healer or DPS).

Also, I'm working on a new show that opens Tuesday. Because it's new, I don't know how long it is. It's possible that it's 2.5-3 hours long, which would probably have me getting home later than usual. Also, I have full Rakata gear, so unless we do Nightmare Mode, if another DPS (preferably Knight or non-Sage) would like to take my place, I'll give you preference. This does not include Normal Mode, since I still need my Biometrics!

We cleared EV and half of Karagga due to a late start. Wednesday I'll be out for at least the first hour and possibly the entire night. We're still looking for another person to put on the permanent roster as well as a replacement for me to finish up Karagga.

Thursday we'll finish whatever HM stuff we've got left and then go through normal mode (assuming I am busy for all of Wednesday night).

Beggars can't be choosers, so if all we can get for the permanent roster is another DPS sage, then so be it!

We're doing normal mode tonight, Erathaol, so we should be able to drag you through it, geared or not, and hopefully you'll get some good gear along the way (unfortunately Normal Mode is pre-assigned loot).

That's contradictory. You never bothered to sign up on the raid calendar this week either, so I can only assume you weren't planning to raid for a few days before, since it wasn't a last minute change. Even the weeks that you did give notice, it was literally an hour or two before the raid, which makes it near impossible to find a replacement.

Regardless, you've done raiding before. What happens when someone backs out of raids for a month in a row? Get your RL stuff together and let us know when you'll be more stable.
