Start Trek Online - Impressions and Release
« on: January 24, 2010, 01:07:48 pm »
So a litte thing from me about Star Trek Online.

First of all i played some time in the open beta now. i realy had fun in the space battles and brought my char up to commander rank 5. so im flying a heavy escort (akira class) atm.
space battles are realy fun and i will give that game a try. i think i can bring my litte brother into this too this time (couldnt do it with darkfall).

of cource not all is perfekt. especialy the ground combat lacks as good as everything. its slow, not realy intresting and dont has a lot of options. nearly no tactical fun at all. well but maybe this will get better.
a lot other things are still a bit simple. but seams as it will get better with advancment when you have more options in how you can fit your ships and use your officers. and of cource open beta still has its limits, and a lot will change. hopefully to the better side... =)

as i said above, i will give this game a try, so im asking if any other angels are going for this game? swtor is still way ahead so maybe this is a option to have some fun... ...

Two planets are meeting in space. Asks the first:"Do you have human as well?" Answers the second:"Yes, but that passes by."

I've been busy, so I've only played through the tutorials up until you land on your first planet. Combat kinda reminded me of Champions Online, which didn't have much variety other than cosmetic changes to basically the same attack. They also gave me some companion guy who I couldn't figure out how to move effectively. I just can't see myself really getting into the game.

This game is mildy interesting to me because it is new, but I can see myself getting really bored with the lack of variety of different things to do within a month.  Sure there may be alot of different locations, but from what I experienced from beta, there are just alot of different locations to do the same activities.

I know it is beta, but as of right now, I cannot bring myself to spend the money on it at release.  I am sick and tired of MMO's that are so dumbed down a caveman could play it.  You would think that a game based on the Star Trek universe would cater to the more intellectual gamer.....but alas, its back to Eve Online....for now.

We're Angels, not saints.
