There's an article on IGN talking about the expansion.

On top of a level cap raise to 55, you also have new storylines for every class that pick up where the core game ended.

Not quite.  The devs have confirmed that there will be no class-specific storylines in the expansion.

Manic are you even playing the game anymore or is your whole deal to point out whatever flaws you can in SWTOR, discouraging people, and then stalking quietly away back to the eve thread and posting all the things you think are so great over there in hopes that people will follow you?

Because EVE sucks (.) <---- PERIOD

Wow.  I still follow the game's development, and I pointed out an inaccuracy in the article.

And I agree.  EVE does suck.

Manic is very right. I distinctly remember hearing about the continuation of class quests on Makeb. When a story-driven game is starting to axe STORY from major content releases, there's a problem.

Also EVE sucks.
Title: Re: Rise of the Hutt Cartel coming April 9th!
Post by: Kokuei on March 25, 2013, 04:25:15 pm
They did say they would continue the story. But they axed that at free to play or shortly there after. It's more about how much money they can make now than really caring.

I thought they were doing a Story Arc for the planet, not personal stories.

I mean your either a Jedi, Darth, Master Smuggler etc. What are they going to do to progress us as characters?
Title: Re: Rise of the Hutt Cartel coming April 9th!

I'm going to go out on a limb then and say that it's because they (Bioware Austin) is in survival mode. They started off with a SHITLOAD of funding; thusly, they hired and configured their offices and production cycle to what they could afford. Now, EA is drawing that monetary noose tighter and tighter and this puts Bioware on a shorter and shorter leash. They've had to make multiple rounds of layoffs, and combined with the constant corner-cutting and lackluster product coming out of their doors, it seems obvious that management has been given the order get profitable or get liquidated. A quality game is no longer the purpose of the studio; it is now to ride out the end of this fiasco until the product or studio becomes solvent.

Honestly, I'd hate to work there. It's probably a shit-storm of stress and upstairs guidelines +mandates.

Found this (http://torwars.com/2013/03/25/rise-of-the-hutt-cartel-my-time-on-makeb-draft/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+torwars%2FxALp+%28TORWars%29) on the story. Like it was pointed out, no new class quests.

Piecing it together, it sounds like the new quests will get you to level 52 and then you're going to have to do repeatable grind quests to get to level 55.

Quote from: "IGN"
As soon as you're level 52 you gain access to two new quest lines, one of which involves a new macrobinocular tool, and another that gives you a seeker droid to hunt out new loot in the world...The backbone for these tasks might involve a repetitious action, and there will be daily quests you can do to get experience and reputation...It seems they're also kind of essential, as the team at BioWare explained that they generate a lot of experience, and will be an important part of anyone's adventure to level 55.

Are you ready?

Here's my checklist:

1.  Warzone comms capped at 2750.  You'll need them for new gear.

2.  Ranked Warzone comms capped at 4500.  You'll need them for new gear.

3.  Cosmetic pieces of Columi or Tionese gear levels purchased for yourself or companions.  Some of this stuff is going away.  Some of it is staying but it will cost a lot more comms.

4.  Spend down comms so you're not over the maximum of 800.  Observe the following conversion rates:
Tionese 6:1 conversion to classic comms
Columi 4:1 conversion to classic comms
Black Hole 1:1 conversion to classic comms
Daily 4:1 conversion to classic comms

5.  Stock up on Experience Boosters.  Plan on having enough for 10-20 hours minimum.  Current rumors put Makeb content at taking 7-9 hours for the average player to complete and provide enough XP to get you to level 53-54.  Experience boosters are a MUST.

6.  Stock up on stims, medpacks, and consumables.  The new goodies won't be available to you right off and you want to be at your best.

7.  Collect high level mats for your profession of choice that can make you a few "fast greens" to get leveling crafting.  You want to do this while you send out your companions to gather mats for you.

8.  Get 25 quests completed in your quest log the day before.  This will allow you to log in, pop and XP booster and then hand in 25 quests to get the quick burst of XP.  Focus on dailies that are level 50 that can be handed in quickly at a single terminal.

9.  It goes without saying that you want to have all your companions at max affection including HK.  That will help maximize your return on crafting missions.

10.  Have a plan on how to level and get in a group.  Remember, you get more XP in a group.  While I'm not sure on the returns you'll see, I want to get in a group to grind out a few level 50 HM flashpoints to get a quick XP  boost.  This will give a little boost in XP doing "easy" content we already know.  Remember, because you know the content, you'll do it faster and more efficiently.  This boost in XP will put you ahead of the average level for Makeb content.  This should make it easier for you to rip through it.  Also, this should allow some time between when you attack Makeb content and when the first group passes through the area.  This means less competition for resources to farm.

11.  Read up on your NEW class spec and know in advance how you want to spend points.  Figure this out in advance, have a guide to follow and if possible get a training statue from the cartel packs/GTN  Training in the field saves time and keeps you leveling instead of going back to fleet to waste time.

12.  Finally get some good snack food and some good drinks.  Water or water based drinks with high protein snacks work best for me.  Make sure you're well hydrated, and well rested.  Everyone will want to grind up to 55 fast but from personal experience you'll get tired fast.  With the low amount of time needed to reach max level this shouldn't be a huge issue if you manage yourself properly.

It does beg the question do quests that require level 50 give XP as rewards? Do they give legacy XP?

Perhaps a raid completion?  TBH Quest, but that would require some scheduling.

Dailies at least do, yes. Remember, you can run a good number of them before your level 50 and receive normal XP. In addition, any quest you do does give Legacy XP, so it only stands to reason that any and all quests do in fact give XP. We just don't receive it since we're level 50. It would be weird for them to use a different code structure for certain quest turn ins just because they're designed for level 50's.

Operation Weeklies are definitely something we should think of doing. I'm down for going through Nightmare EV, KP, TBH, EC Sunday and Monday nights (just enough to do the Weekly). In fact, I think that that would definitely give us a good bit of XP coming straight out the gate.

Title: Re: Rise of the Hutt Cartel coming April 9th

Ilum gives more credits than Section X and Black Hole. Does that mean the Ilum quests would give more XP as well?
Title: Re: Rise of the Hutt Cartel coming April 9th
Post by: Strod on April 03, 2013, 03:32:45 pm
Considering it gives you almost half a level at 49, I would think it'd be worth taking 20 minutes to do Ilum and have it in your stash.
Title: Re: Rise of the Hutt Cartel coming April 9th
Post by: Zooey on April 03, 2013, 05:00:05 pm
My logic is that the Section X and Black Hole give greater XP due to the fact that they are required to be 50 to complete, and they are level 50 quests.  Are the Ilum quests level 50?

Not really, the new flashpoints are 55 Heroics, so unless you are going to level thru level 50 heroics, its not useful.   And with most things, more than likely, the fastest way to level will be PvP.  Does anyone know whether the new PvP gear requires 55 to purchase?  I just thought about this for those who are capped.

For people that wanted to know about Comms:

Limits:

Please note that these have been updated and are not the same numbers that were on the PTS:

Planetary Commendations - Unlimited Weekly; 50 Maximum
Classic Commendations - 200 Weekly; 400 Maximum
Basic Commendations - 300 Weekly; 600 Maximum
Elite Commendations - 200 Weekly; 400 Maximum
Ultimate Commendations - 150 Weekly; 300 Maximum

Additionally, with Game Update 2.0 there will be a one-time "overflow" limit in place that will allow players to go above the maximum. Planetary Commendations will have an overflow limit of 100, and Classic Commendations will have an overflow limit of 800. Basic, Elite, and Ultimate Commendations do not have overflow limits. The overflow limits are not in addition to the maximums amounts above; they're the total number of Commendations of that type that players will be able to hold after Game Update 2.0. Anything converted above the overflow limit will be lost. Players who have used the overflow limit and have more than the maximum number of Commendations will not be able to gain new Commendations until they fall below the maximum amounts.

Conversion:

Commendations from individual planets have been converted into a single "Planetary Commendation" type. Vendors that previously traded items for specific planet commendations now trade the same items for Planetary Commendations.

Tionese Crystals have been converted to the new "Planetary Commendation" type and no longer drop from any content.
Daily, Tionese, Columi, and Black Hole Commendations have all been converted to Classic Commendations. Missions and loot that previously awarded these commendations will now award Classic Commendations instead.

Daily, Tionese, Columi, and Black Hole Commendations in your inventory will be converted to Classic Commendations at the following ratios:

Tionese Commendations - 6:1
Columi Commendations - 4:1
Daily Commendations - 4:1
Black Hole Commendations - 1:1

So, extremely important.  IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO RISK IT, GET RID OF YOUR SECTION X AND DO ANOTHER SET OF DAILIES!

The Section X is going to a level 52 Daily area and so they may be reset as a result.  It is unconfirmed on the reset, but there you have it.  The other dailies will remain 50.

I personally will take the risk.

Sounds like Section X will give more XP than the other dailies, then. I feel like if they're resetting some quests, they'll reset all of them, which would really suck.

Or, more likely, everyone with Section X quests in their log will be bugged out and unable to login. You heard it here first, folks!

Terror From Beyond
Terror From Beyond is now available in Group Finder at level 55.
The missions New Frontiers and Ancient Allies are now level 55. Players are still eligible for these missions at level 50.
All difficulty modes have been rebalanced to provide proper challenge and reward to level 55 players.
Chests in this Operation have been replaced by enemies that drop special loot: Covert Observers and Brutal Invaders. Loot drops have been updated to level 55. Arkanian items will now drop in Story Mode, and Underworld items now drop in Hard Mode.

Added new Priority Transport Terminals the Fleet and several space garages, which provide transportation between high-level mission areas such as The Black Hole, Ilum, Section X, and Makeb. Planetary shuttles on Belsavis, Ilum, and Corellia have had these transport options removed for clarity.

Not that this affects us, but:

Enemies of Elite toughness now have 5% Force and Tech defense, and enemies of Champion toughness have 10% Force and Tech defense. This gives greater chance of resisting Force and Tech attacks, and increases the importance of Accuracy when fighting Elite enemies.

Makeb Datacrons: +10 Endurance and +10 Presence. Presence takes maybe 5-10 minutes to get but the endurance one can take an hour or more. Get them when you are L55.

And for those of you who kept mentioning to do the daily weeklies and pick it back up after reset.  It is a current conjecture that you have 4 hours to wait before you can pick it up.

Dumbest thing I've heard in days.  Why would I not be able to pick up a quest I haven't done in weeks?  What asshat made this up?

I'm patching RIGHT NOW at 9:20 EST.  Everyone should be as well.

Thanks for the info, Zooey! So it sounds like we should be able to start gearing up moderately fast with TFB providing the new gear (granted it's been rebalanced for 55, but we already know those fights very well).

And patch download is up already.

Patched and installed.  It took me about 40 minutes for downloading and installation.  Your experience may vary.

No, the reset for weeklies should reset at 5am FA time.  That's what the thought was according to dulfy.

And if you didn't do the weekly last week, you won't have this problem.  If you thought ahead (like I did) you would actually want to get the weekly BEFORE it resets so you can do it again this week.

No. Not great strod. At least from my perspective. Not totally screwed but not great either. For my part only the section x worked. And the ilum heroics. I had no joy on corellia nor the PVp quests.

All of the Reusable Medpacs/Stims/Adrenals Biochem people can craft are NOT BoP. They can be traded, but require Biochem 450.

I currently can craft Reusable Willpower Stims and Reusable Triage Adrenals (healing). I'll have Medpacs and Attack adrenals tomorrow.

I can craft Reusable Nano-Infused Attack Adrenal at the moment. I should have the Might stim soon. It requires a mat similar to the Biometric Crystal Alloy. It needs an Exotic Element Equalizer. You can get it from flashpoints/ops.

I just watched the vid for the +10 endurance datacron. What was giving ya'll so much trouble to do it for an hour or more or whatever?

That run was simple to follow and will be just as easy to do IMO.

Was it bugged or something for ya'll?

Not sure. I did it in about 20 minutes. I think I fell once at the very beginning trying to get around a beam and that was it. I imagine the shitty part is if you do make a stupid mistake, you have to start all over again. It's definitely worth doing, though.

After spending yesterday afternoon looking into your reports and doing internal testing, we discovered a couple of things:

1. We were missing an important Patch Note for Game Update 2.0, which I'll be adding to the notes as soon as possible with the information, and I apologize that it was missed.

2. As many of you suspected, there are some bugs associated with Crew Skill Mission rewards above level 400. We're working on them now and will be sure to get them fixed in an upcoming patch. When I know more about when that will actually be, I will let you guys know.:

The combination of the bugs above, paired with the fact that the new missions don't yield materials in the same way as the older ones do would understandably lead to confusion around Level 400+ missions. We're sorry for any frustration this may have caused, and I hope to have cleared up your questions.

At the time of the writing, I'm up to 16.  I honestly was hoping that they had decided to ramp up the difficulty.  But this is fine as well.

If you want some easy Ultimate (12) and Elite (20) comms and you have a level 50-54 character, grab the weekly "Complete 3 Level 55 Hard Mode Flashpoints (Hammer, Athiss, Cademimu or Mandalorian Raiders" mission, and run any three level 50 hard modes.  For now, they are counting towards this weekly.  Assuming it's a bug that will be patched so do it while you can.  Longboard and myself noticed last night after running a HM FP on Moana and Directive (sub-55) that we had 1/3 completed.  We tested by running two more HM FPs.  We were able to finish the weekly and collect comms.

EDIT: We did not run Hammer Station, Athiss, Cademimu or Mando Raiders, just for reference.  So it appears that any HM FP will count.

EDIT#2: We also found out that level 55s can join level 50 FPs.  We had a player drop and when we re-queued, a 55 was thrown in with us.  This could be beneficial information.

Does this patch not fix the slicing crit drop rate?

Also, apparently my white expertise crystals are useless now. Can someone explain to me why the dev recommends not using expertise crystals anymore? And why should I use elite war hero gear and not Arkanian gear if they are removing all expertise?

2.01 will supposedly fix the drop rate, according to the Devs.

By using previous warhero and elite warhero gear in combination with a few pieces from the new PvP gear, you could out perform beyond their original design for the 2.0 warzones.

@T: What do you mean the devs recommend not using expertise crystals?

And no, your slicing missions are still fucked.

You should use the best PvE gear you can until you can buy the new tier of PvP gear as a general rule.  You get a certain amount of Expertise for free from Bolster even with PvE gear and since no "old" gear (War Hero, EWH) has Expertise you want to wear your best gear.

The trick is to upgrade carefully to get to max Expertise (2018) while keeping a good amount of primary and secondary stats.

At least that's what I've found so far.

PVE top tier offhand still have more "expertise" attached to it than an EWH offhand. Sorry but that makes no sense...

For those of you going from partisan to conq - be sure to strip out the mods, armour etc before trading - you can trade an empty shell partisan for a fully loaded conq.

^ This.

Wearing full raid gear yesterday in all WZs I did, I was at 1950 expertise, thanks to Bolster.  Prior to this when I wore full PvP gear (old stuff), I was at 888 entering the WZ and around 1200 after Bolster.

I was the top player in all WZs I did last night.

Seeing as how the patch notes only state they lowered the Bolster effect of empty slots, this should still be the case.

That would explain how I was getting MELTED in PvP the past week in certain matches. The ones I played today went well, though. I used Partisan/EWH mixed. I refuse to remove my white crystals. If they need to replace them with Power ones, I will make them do that.

Ok, read some more on the expertise crystals. Apparently if you have exp crystals, then it thinks your whole weapon has expertise and doesn't bolster that weapon - hence removing the crystal. However, I think this means that if you have at least Partisan level weapons, it would be more beneficial to keep the expertise crystals in.

I spread my mods and enhancements over all of my gear, so I'm pretty much screwed. What a stupid stupid system.
