General / Extended Leave of absence.
« on: April 24, 2012, 05:25:57 pm »
Well my projects that I figured would only take a week is going to take a lot longer so im going to be LOA for a while me and Linlinn are pretty busy (between her two jobs and my art projects plus the kids we dont have much time for gaming right now)

hopefully I wont be gone too long. but I have a lot of catching up to do, and I figure this is a good place in swtor to take a break and catch up with RL stuff in the meantime.

Starting Friday, the Beta will be down for a new build, for those of us playing, I suggest we develop a new strategy this time around.

For starters we've been divided between factions, since its beta this is ok in some respects, but there is a lot of team building pvp/grouping strategies we have missed out on because there isn't enough of us on one side or the other to really develop good play time.

So first thing we should do is pick which faction we are playing this time. Im not going to say we should play republic in respect to those who dont want story spoiled until release. but we should decide as a group one way or the other and stick to it mostly.

second, I think we should set a day each week for premade pvp warzones and if we reach endgame, world pvp. I think its important for us to develop these strategies early on to help our fellow guildmates in this aspect. Huttball plays, alderaan base strategies, voidstar, Ilum, etc.

any suggestions? comments? anything we can do more to help us as  aguild and beta team will be better than what we have been doing recently.

Edit: to make this easier just post your preferred faction for the build and what day/time would be best for you for group pvp/flashpoints.

Non-VR Games / New Build Changes (based on forum posts)
« on: September 23, 2011, 05:04:56 pm »
So based on posts by those that got their reinvite to beta today I've made a small list of changes made based on that thread.

Quote

in a nutshell... almost every classes, had been affected - in regards to cooldown, cc additional abilities, including new ones, some come sooner than later, etc,

two new flashpoints, some gears related to healing and tanking under level 30 had been removed.

they increase the drop rate on some quality items.

they change the mod system.. do not know if this a good or bad things yet.. add new line of mods

bosses had been updated with new mechanics.. where they suppose to be more challenging and unique

PVP - added new pvp missions.. cc immunity duration been increased.

some open world pvp objectives are now active.

pvp min level is now 10 before you can queue up for warzones.

space combat - personal starship upgrades have been revamped.

UI - does not say if the UI is now scale-able or movable.. for me .. this what I wanted the most. But they did make some adjustment to it.

codex - new ones, and now more titles and entries had been added that you unlock..

It seems that more dropped items are either coming with empty mod slots or no mod slots at all no on is sure and wont know until we are actually playing the game to find out.

It seems carrik station will now be the main social hub for players and not coruscant. they are adding vendors a GTN, and making it the flashpoint hub as well. the Empire version is being done the same way.

I'll update this as I get more info.

Non-VR Games / Goodbye steam... hello... Origin?
« on: June 03, 2011, 08:24:36 pm »
So Origin will be the D2D option for SWTOR and not on steam or just directly from the TOR website. I'm not sure how I feel about this new app. Steam is convenient sure, but its a multi-developer third party program for downloading games that provides the versatility gamers want when keeping up with a library of games.

I understand EA's thought process in developing Origin, but I don't think it will be all that useful to us the gamer. We would basically be stuck with EA only games, making it limited in usage.

For those that don't know, origin basically works just like steam with almost all the same steam features. In game overlay, chat, profies, etc.

Non-VR Games / Ideal Guild Quiz
« on: April 13, 2011, 11:46:41 am »
I dont know how We would feel about it, but there is now an Ideal guild quiz that potential guildies fill out and it suggests a guild to them.
http://www.tortoolbox.com/quiz/

after filling out some answers, it suggested i join eternal vigilance LOL, but anyways Do you think it would be a good idea for us to submit the guild to this questionaire so players get an opportunity to at least think we are a prime fit for them?

it would allow us to be secretive, yet give the player at least some firm standing that the guild would serve their desires or requirements as they see them.

Non-VR Games / London Hands on event.
« on: March 31, 2011, 05:00:20 am »
BW is having a hands on event for a few lucky forum goers the event will take place Tuesday, April 5th and last about 1 1/2 hours. (gameplay) Im sure a Q&A will follow or precede the gameplay portion.

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=289285
The post here is taking requests from other forum goers asking what we would like answered from their experience.

I mentioned finding out about color matching.

Another participant asked people to PM them if they wanted to get more info about the smuggler so I did:

"I want to know everything you can possibly find out about it of course!

But to be honest, I just want to hear what your thoughts are and what the play was like from the time you got to play. Just tell me how you played it, how the story made you feel about playing a smuggler, etc.

I really appreciate your willingness to share with others and wish I could do much more than thank you for your time.

Good luck and enjoy the event!

PS and if you somehow (unlikely) see a sith...groinkick him for me!"

I figured I would post the link here if anyone else has something they want input from the players.

Off Topic / New schedule of availability.
« on: March 27, 2011, 02:00:22 am »
I may not make many meetings over the next few weeks. While I requested mondays off, it seems no one really gets that memo and give me any other day but monday. Or as the last meeting I attended, give me the day off and call me into work anyways.

My schedule also changed from late nights to prime time, so I dont get to hang out with the guild much. When I do get on, most people have gotten off. :(

Unless something changes for this next week. Ill be on champions, (or if people play late enough ill buy BFBC2) generally after 1am or the latest 4am(CST).

It better change before TOR relases for sure.

well the whole guild really, but Tbone was mentioned by a poster specifically

very first post to topic the poster states how killing any member of FA back in MxO was a screenshot worthy moment.

Non-VR Games / Starsider Moves to SWTOR!
« on: December 07, 2010, 04:50:14 am »
For those that know (like Ragnarok) the title and the following link say enough;

http://www.swtor-rp.com/index.php

For those that don't, Starsider is a SWG server with one of the best (IMO) RP communities out there. They support multiple guilds working together for a Server wide strong RP community, and they are have made a site dedicated to The Old Republic.

What this could mean for us? well after a few important people check on the site and give their two cents, these people would happily support our form of guild recruiting on their forum. I have not contacted them about us, nor signed on myself (not going to overstep my bounds) but if you played SWG on starsider, you know how good of an RP communty these folks have.

Non-VR Games / Possible beta invite
« on: November 26, 2010, 05:40:02 am »
if you have recieved an email reguarding a survey to get a beta invite from Magid (survey company) DO NOT DELETE!

BioWare has confirmed this is legit and is indeed part of the beta invite process

It will say someting like starwarstheoldrepublic.com

Confirmation by mods is found here

Quote
Some of you may have received an email from Magid, regarding a survey concerning Star Warsâ„¢: The Old Republicâ„¢. As there has been some confusion, we wanted to let everyone know that it is indeed valid.

We are partnered with a third-party agency, Magid, to conduct some focused playtests for TOR. These are part of our ongoing Game Testing Program. As part of that testing, a number of emails were sent to registered community members like you who’d opted in for game testing.

What to do now? If you were sent an email and haven’t clicked through to the survey yet, well, go ahead and click. If you haven’t been emailed, don’t bother asking someone else to share; the surveys are individually linked to email addresses. If you are selected for testing, we’ll let you know – with an official email, this time!

Of course, I have to remind everyone that everything to do with Game Testing is bound by the Game Testing Agreement - and that means if you’re selected, apart from telling people that you’ve been selected, everything else is confidential.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Stateside!

Here are some interview links as requested at the last guild meeting. I hang around the SWTOR forums alot so these pop up here and there and hopefully they should provide a good bit of insight into whats going on in TOR.

This one is about when they feel is the best time to start an Open Beta.

Non-VR Games / A Worl PVP idea.
« on: November 11, 2010, 07:21:30 pm »
I wanted to post a suggestion Idea here before I posted it on the TOR forums.

I know our current pvp is Warzone only atm until more information is released. However, even open pvp is very shallow in most MMOs with random skrimishes accomplishing nothing much really in terms of the overall game.

Looking back at my days as a paintball player we had a similar outset when it came to playing. every other week we got together and had skirmish games with other groups similar to warzone pvp. However every few months at various paintball fields we had scenario events. games that re-enacted famous battles, or scenarios made up by the field owners from sheer imagination. (there is even a re-enactment of monty python and the holy grail held every year in PA)

From that I got to thinking about how good it could be if each month we had an all day pvp event that could have an impact on the game as a whole.

We pick a planet that is contested by both sides (like Ilum or Alderaan) and we have a major all day event, with mission objectives and massive battles. after the event is finished, devs could tally up the wins/losses across servers to determine which side won the day and add it to the story.

Low level players could get in on the action by being stat boosted (like in COH/COV) and help support the number base and they wouldn't feel left out of major story events. While they wouldn't be near as powerful as high level players, they wouldn't be completely excluded or just steamrolled by a single player.

I wanted to see how you guys felt about the Idea, since one of our goals is to directly impact the game in some way, and I think an idea such as this would allow us that opportunity in terms of PVP.

That and see what we could do to expand upon the Idea.

Non-VR Games / Guess our idea got a little RP popular
« on: October 31, 2010, 01:12:07 am »
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=219285

People are now using coded messages for RP purposes. The idea is taking off, but its not helping us any.

Any ideas on possibly capitalizing on the craze without much effort? perhaps hosing some RP based coding sessions that get various players involved and it not lead back to the guild as some sort of indirect advertising?
