Anyone else planning on getting one? This is the one that has been recommended:

I just purchased it!

Yes, I will be purchasing one soon as well.

IMO, you will need more buttons than that one has, especially for Star citizen when that comes out. I like my throttle and stick to be able to be separated. (edit, I guess that one comes a part I think). I like the fighterstick from CH products, its a solid quality product that will last for years, I've had mine for like 10 years or more and it works perfect. Also I think the warthog hotas by thrust master is good quality as well. These table mounts look pretty cool. http://www.monstertech.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/warthog_hotas_table.jpg (http://www.monstertech.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/warthog_hotas_table.jpg) )

What is your recommendation? I had this same concern about button count but honestly I couldn't find a good rated alternative.

I have not had a joystick in maybe 30 years! Can't wait.
-
However, the original post is a lot cheaper than my options :)
-
I just got mine in. The joystick and throttle actually come separated. There seem to be plenty of buttons and Elite: Dangerous even has a preset for this specific joystick. I'm still mapping out buttons...there may be a few things I use VoiceAttack for, but that's recommended for VR regardless. You can't beat it for the price!
I'm trying to determine if I'll be OK setting it up on my keyboard tray when I play or if I'm going to want it closer to/in my lap some how.

Try these then Tbone http://www.monstertech.de/en/ (http://www.monstertech.de/en/)

More expensive than the joystick itself. Ha, no.

I ordered the one Tbone linked.

I'm trying to get used to the Crab bindings if you look those up. Basically you have a button on the throttle and button on the joystick that act as modifiers.

I worked on my desk today, and made these hotas holders. I just used some scrap wood I had laying around. I'm quite pleased with the result. They adjust in and out , the height is fixed though.

A second picture with them pushed in.

Nice Saint. I have that Logitech game board too. I might have to do something similar with my desk, I like that.

I bought this gaming desk a year ago. It's not great. It's not horrible. I wish there were some better options out there. Especially corner desks that give some extra room.

I finished painting my desk as well as attaching a hinge mechanism to the joystick so that it now hinges down and folds under my desk. I mounted the joystick with an incline for better ergonomics as well. I made a inclined foot rest under my desk and finished my gaming chair made out of a racing car seat. I purchased the obutto r3volution keyboard mount system and mounted that to my chair. Holy crap is that thing heavy, if you end up going that route make sure you reinforce your mounting system because its really heavy. All in all I had a lot of fun making this setup.
