Title: Anticipated Games!
Post by: Reaper on November 22, 2009, 05:19:14 pm
Ive been sitting here thinking about what games ive liked over 2009 and how they've kept me going through this slow dreary year. And ive came to the conclusion that i didn't really want to think about the games of the past, i want to think about the "Future of Gaming" and what it holds for us. I have a few drastic ideas of how the future is going to turn out however i wanted to keep it realistic (No sci fi rooms), like graphic engines, new consoles... How would this impact us as a gaming community? Well enough rambling on i want to know how you feel about our future and what games you are looking forward too in 2010.

Thanks for your time.

Bioshock 2
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Dead Rising 2
Fez

Those are all the one's I'm looking forward to before May '10 (E3), I don't put much trust in release dates beyond then.

I was about to say ACII... but it's out (and it's bloody fantastic!) Splinter Cell: Conviction and ME2 are the games that may persuade me to buy an Xbox360.

And of course... SW:TOR ;)

I think the "future of gaming" right now seems to be leaning towards putting together a compelling story. Superb voice acting, interactive cinematics, huge plot twists...the technology has advanced to the point to where the gamer can really be drawn in, and now I think games are trying to take advantage of that by telling a good story. Even future MMOs, like SWTOR, are focusing on voice acting and story.

That's also one of the things that brings us back for the sequels. Of course, good gameplay is still a must, and any game that can accomplish both seem to be the ones that are super-blockbusters.

You right. And SC:C is really trying to push that. If you can find a demo video you'll see that they are trying to not do cinematics, per se. As the cinematics will blend into the wall (think of it as a projector on the wall), basically a clip playing in Sam's head, and represented on a wall for the player.

Example: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/902601/tom-clancys-splinter-cell-conviction/videos/splintercell_vdp_092409.html

Is anybody looking forward to Natural Selection 2, i over heard this to be quite a good game. Also yes SC:C is going to be good like Chaos Theory and Pandora Tomorrow they hae my expectations of a great story, involving cutscenes ( like the bit where you get to choose to shoot that guy but we all do. :D ), and brilliant graphical effects. I think though to hold the poll of most anticipated i have been hearing Swtor to be leveling of what World of Warcraft was in its beta so... early days. Don't get me wrong though there are many games that are coming out that i personally would like to try out, i mean today i had Assasins Creed 2 come through my door today, and i was stunned on how they could improve on the first game. So when looking at a game we as gamers really should take a second look before becoming the judger.

Here's a good list of early 2010 releases: http://kotaku.com/5405266/how-2010-is-actually-christmas-2009-in-disguise

Yea Final Fantasy caught my Eye aswell, i just wish they would make a remake of 7 (please dont flame me for being a typical 7 fan :D) for the ps3. But yes XIII does look good :). I havent really played Bioshock to be perfectly honest so i can't really say much about it, however that i have heard alot about it and that it is a good game.

1 game next year will literally spank all of you into awareness of what a badass FPS is....and that is AvP:  the only game where multiplayer is truly as hectic as the single player, as you can play as either the marine, aliens, or predator:

Hell fucking yes

My friend keeps on going on about that game, im not really a big fan of alien or predator so i wouldn't really know. This game however looks good :)

Metroid: Other M for the Wii looks pretty hot...makes Samus more like Kratos with a blaster...honestly I've grown tired of Nintendo cause they only hash out the same shit but call it something new....smash bros. is the only thing I really enjoy the most on my Wii...

I sppose you are right to be perfectly honest, many people consider that nintendo are sending out the same games over and over again hoping for more fan base. 2009 as a whole has more or less been a repeat of 2007, though the case with all consoles is how many games can you bring out that interest people without ruining the fan base.

One can't merely bring out a new super mario every other month, so how would a big gaming company tackle this...

Ideas?

We've really enjoyed the new Super Mario for Wii. Its a really nostalgic game for us old folks who got the NES right when it came out and saw the development of the Mario franchise from the start. Multiplayer in Mario Wii is actually a lot of fun.

As mentioned in another thread, I just picked up Assasins Creed II. I've only played the start of the first AC, and haven't yet popped ACII in yet I'm looking forward to it.

I also picked up Lego:Star Wars, the Complete Saga. Never played a lego game, but as part of my 'get rdy for swtor' I'm going to plow through all 6 episodes.

Thanks for the reply ( by the way sorry if there is spelling issues i broke my hand today ) Yes AcII is really good, especially the downloadable content!!!! Also yes Super Mario Brothers is indeed a very unique game, as it delivers new gameplay within each game they release :D
Lego Star Wars i have on my D.S i like it very much, however it seems very repetative, and the cutscenes consist of Single Frames :-/ ( This may differ on the WII ).

I want too see another Ninja Gaiden!!!! Whos with me!

DMC is good... but the 4th was disappointing seeing as you have to play the levels over again and again.

ACII DLC? Is that Uplay?

For now. They plan to release the rest of the secert locations as DLC at some point, and our hope is that sequence 12/13 is DLC too.

That is correct Uplay is a direct Achievement system that allows the user to use DLC Achievements depending on what console the user is using. Its a good way to make the player work for the items :D

Yea DMC 4 was abit of joke when you had to do all the boss's 3 times, !Repetative Gameplay Alert! however its storyline, is one which is unique and can be manipulated in the next game they could bring out.

Any other games people are going to be looking forward too?

I mean your all missing one which noone has touched upon yet :D

Yeah, I thought the 'jump' between sequence 11 to 14 was a bit bizarre... the ending felt very rushed to me, even though it was awesome and very Dan Brownish.

Highlight below to read, spoilers.....

I personally think it was rushed, I think that they were going to have sequence 12/13 and have you learn to use the PoE and be a true assassin, but time didn't allow them to finish that part of the game. So they just took them out and just jumped to the end of the story, knowing that they can but 12/13 up as DLC when they finish them.

End spoilers

I've read on the internetz that there are two 1GB (Me thinks that's a load of shite) DLC packages for January and Feburary. One of them's called 'The Battle of Fortili' or something... I can't remember the website; will check again later on tomorrow/today (early morning here :S) and post it!
