Battlefield 3
« on: July 30, 2010, 04:17:12 pm »
I didn't know this was on the horizon.  Apparently, purchasing the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor (which is currently in beta - uses the BFBC2 engine http://www.medalofhonor.com/betainfo) secures a beta invitation to Battlefield 3.

Speaking of Battlefield...

I discovered today just logging in with your BF:BC2 account here: http://www.badcompany2.ea.com/login will activate 1 veteran status point and unlock the M1 Garand in game.

Don't believe everything you think.

I might actually be bugged... and for some reason EA thinks I own it for PS3 as well. (I don't own a console) So it gave me the bonus, lol.

Admin Edit: Please use the 'Preview' button when embedding videos so that I don't have to clean up the mess... HTML is not allowed. Only 'embed' and 'object' tags.

EDIT:  My apologies, second time I've done that!  Thank you for fixing it.

Did anyone else think that the music was very, very similar to Terminator?

Are we still talking about Battlefield, or did we move on to Justin Beiber?

No.  Completely serious.  I honestly am furious as this franchise and all of it's clones.  Honestly the entire gaming industry need a revolt and revolution in my eyes but that's just me.

The useless and rage evoking DRM, the lack of allowing players to create their own servers coupled with the bugs and downtime of their official servers, the omission of offline LAN play, punishing the people who pay for the game...  The obvious push towards console play..  the sheer lack of creativity in these games sickens me.  It's the same shit over and over and over and people buy it up.  It's the same reason that as much as it hurt... and I mean bad... I refused to purchase starcraft 2.  :(  I refuse to participate in this garbage.

Companies like EA and now Activision (yeah and SOE too) are very much everything that is wrong with gaming now.  But EA... ugh.. the fact that they killed off the onslaught update to BC2 to work on BF3 (also killed 1943 for the PC) shows that they aren't interested in making a game that lasts... they just want to print more boxes with an incremented number on it for that $50.

Also, relevant:

A revolutionary and original spin on the military shooter genre.  ..to the max.

Download the game here

I'm not trying to pee in your collective cheerios.  I mean obviously people enjoy the games, they're selling well.  Personally I feel that it's just bad for gaming in general.
