I quit my sales job and got a job waiting tables. After five months of having no idea what my schedule would be, I should finally know what nights I have free each month. Hopefully this means I can get more involved and we can start planning a few meetings and gaming nights! Ideas welcome!

Speaking of Jobs, I was able to snag a Fulltime position at Best Buy. So, with two FT jobs, leisure time is very rare these days. :(

Congrats on the new Job, T.

Furious since 2006.

Let me put it this way Nocry: my mother is a professional musician who's interest in sci-fi is virtually non-existent save for a casual viewing of Star Wars or Star Trek or whatever other pop culture TV show or movie I would happen to have going in the den might be. I handed her the original Ender's Game and she proceeded to devour all 350-something pages of it overnight. For someone that's not 'into' hard sci-fi, I think that says something about Card's ability to write an intriguing story.

I will watch Ender's Game when I can illegally download it, and I will read it when I find a free copy somewhere. Fucking homophobic bastard.

...And we will strike down upon those of Darkness, with great vengeance and Furious Anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

I got the audio book for free and listened to it the other month. Good book! I'll probably see the movie at the movie theater.

If I chose not to consume or partake in products due to the personal beliefs of their producers/manufacturers, I imagine I'd be locked out of 90% of what's out there. If it was an official statement made on behalf of the product (like Chick-fil-a or that pasta guy) then I can understand, but Ender's Game itself isn't a statement on sexuality and there are many more people involved in making it (the crew, the actors, the producers).

All of that said, feel free to pirate away! Haha - as long as you can enjoy the movie!

You don't need to be into the particular genre to enjoy a good book.  Great writing can easily transcend genre boundaries, and this right here is proof of that.
