LAN Party - Central Illinois - June 30th
« on: May 07, 2007, 02:10:52 pm »
LAN/360 party at my home in Bloomington, IL
Register here: http://fuse.gotdns.com/LAN/Reg/Register.asp

Details:
-June 30th to July 1st. If you come up Friday Jun29th, it had better be in the evening. Everyone MUST be gone by 9pmish on July 1st. I work for a living on Monday (plus I need a lot of beauty sleep).
-This is my home - If you disrespect my family, me, or the property, you're out. (usually doesn't need to be said, but is a point to be made considering the next bullet...)
-BYOB. If you are 21+, bring drinks, enjoy them in moderation. Also needless to say, if your drinking, you're not driving.
-Smoking is ONLY allowed in the backyard...
-I respect my neighbors, so will you.
-Being from a Saturday to Sunday, it will be a full weekend. I can offer up the floor of my basement to sleep, but that's all. So if you want a warm bed, better bring one as you will not sleep with me, my wife, or my brother in law - and that fills the bedrooms.

Music:
-I will have my DJM-909 mixer out with my cheap turntables as well if anyone wants to bring records and spin. Hopefully I will get someone with better tables and better speakers. (If you plan on coming and can provide these things, please let me know)
-The police in our town are cracking down on noise complaints.
-If the 360s don't take up too much bandwidth and I am able to, I will be broadcasting music online to http://www.midwest-edm.com (perk of being radio manager, even when we really haven't gotten things going yet)

Equipment:
-The main focus will be PC games, but XBox360 will also be there.
-I will offer up my computer as the main server for the night, but this also means we play what I have/want/can install.
-I have a 24 port managed router, a 5 port switch, and I think another 12 port router laying around. I don't expect to get enough to fill the 24 porter, but you may need to bring your own cat5. I only have about 100ft and a crimper.
-I can supply at LEAST one xbox360, most likely 2 on 2 different TVs.
-I have cable internet, which will only be accessible by me (this way we can avoid key checks for games like unreal etc... )
-IF internet is needed for something you come to me first. I will have wireless access (to internet, NOT the gaming servers) for you if you need it. My upload is about 400kb/sec. It's not BAD for upload but that is part of the reason we will separate the gaming LAN from any web dependencies.
-The XBox360(s) will be connected to the web for XBox Live capabilities.

Equipment needed:
-Turntables/CD decks? Anyone have 1200s? Anything is better than what I have.
-Mixer? As I said, I have a DJM-909, a very very nice battle mixer, but if you want to bring something else-go for it.
-Speakers/Receiver. I have a junky one and sub par speakers, but we can make it work. I don't want fullstacks in my basement though, it's a small place.
-Extra router. I have not used this managed router yet, so am not completely sure if it works.
-Games (PC/360)
-360 controllers. We have 5 total to use with two 360's, so 3 more would be nice.
-Extra folding table. Plastic/wood/whatever. If you have one, we might need it.

PC Games (supply more ideas):
Unreal Tournament 2004
Counterstrike
Starcraft(BW)
Company of Heroes

XB360 Games (supply more ideas):
Gears of War
GRAW
GRAW2
Crackdown
Madden

Gosh darnit. I'll be in LA during this party. It would have been so much fun to get drunk with you guys. :D

...And we will strike down upon those of Darkness, with great vengeance and Furious Anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.

Gah this will be the weekend after I've already spent a week there with Kirsten's family. That said, I'll be seeing you sometime between the 16-23 ^_^
If all the world's problems were solved today, what would you have left to do tomorrow?

Anybody driving up there from the Southern region? If so I'll be saving up for half the gas expenses, plus whatever other inconveniences may arise from me tagging along.

Like the rest of my divorce?
*nudge*wink* just kidding...

*cough*
Well dag, I originally planned it for the 23rd, but it turns out that is my mother in laws birthday so I moved it back a week. We can definitly work something out for either the 16th or durring the week though.

I would actually be in the vicinity if you guys were to actually have it on the 16th (or so). If it is changed, I will ask my parents if I can go (but I bet that I won't be able to anyway...).

For now I'm keeping the date as it is, I won't consider changing it unless I get like no responses by the end of this month.

About 2 hours stright down 55.
If no traffic and you have a radar detector to go 80ish you can make it in about an hour and 45 from the 294/55 merger.

I just set up my webpage with all this information, and a link to "register".
By register, I mean it just tells me some info I want if you decide to come. You can also let me know on here, but I figured it would be an easy way to take keep things in one place for me.

Well I just scheduled my first set of flight lessons, which I've been waiting for years to start. One of the things I wanted to do through my training is to keep a blog. Most of you know I hate keeping anything of mine on someone elses servers - so I run my own for everything (Web, FTP, TS, Games, ect...) So I started searching for blogging software compatible with IIS5.1 (Basicly, an ASP based software suite)

In that process I found a pretty sweet forum, which I have an initial setup of here: http://fuse.gotdns.com/forum . I am still tweaking this quite a bit, but please come by and try to break it. I want to see what kind of flaws I can find with this thing but don't have time to mess with it myself too much. I'm still trying to customize it so it will look good.

I have a few blogging programs I will be installing either later today, or tomorrow - that too I'd like some testers, if possible.

Also, please let me know if you plan on comming to the LAN party/Get together. It's less than 2 weeks away!
