Title: MxO and E3
Post by: Anonymous on May 07, 2004, 06:53:39 pm
##INCOMMING TRANSMISSION##
.
.
.

Hey guys, Hikojiro here. So it looks like MxO will be at E3 this year, hopefully they will show it off in an open room. Since I will be attending E3, I was going to search for it and check it out, perhaps ask some questions about the game and take some pictures. Does anyone have any questions you want me to ask the dev's? I can't promise anything, but I'd rather be prepared just incase I get the chance.

thanks guys. Ill be leaving for LosAngeles May 13, ill miss the opening ceremoney, so hopefully i dont miss my only chance at seeing MxO.

anyone else planning on going to E3?

peace!
Hiko

I have a question for the devs,

How will one be able to indentify a spy in disguise? Will a hacker only be able to identify them by looking at their code?

well, trav is the only dev registered here, and i doubt he'll awnser your question...

o that was a rhetorical question...or was it a real question.

ah...then why not ask how clans will be incorporated into the game?

Whoa, what?  We have a Dev registered here?  How did I miss this?

(Unless this is already answered in the skill-set somewhere) How is health regeneration handled?  I.e., which class will have that necessary skill set.  So far my review of the solder, hackers and spies didn't unearth the information.

Tbone got Trav to register the other day but I don't think he ever revisited as far as I know.

It is not very commun for Devs to actually post on forums, ( excluding S2Game Devs, they actually use the forums often).

You might want to point them toward the FA website as much as you can, and let them know how enthusiastic the organization is toward their game.  I've known several cases where people nurtured a relationship with Devs at E3 and got themselves into beta.

If we can provide a content heavy website here, I'm sure that we could submit ourselves as a fansite (keeping the members section exclusive of course) and perhaps make it worth their while.

As it stands now, with the amount of hits Likwidtek was describing, we might have enough muscle to outright ask them for an allottment of beta accounts during E3.  It's something to consider, because it's strictly business with these guys, and if we have something to offer in return it makes it all the easier.

That would be awesome.  Yeah, I know, we won't  bog him down with questions and such, I just think that having a dev on the team would be great for morale and such.  I'm sure they're choosy which faction, if any, they want to join.

I do not think it would be a good idea to spam our special guests pm box..

Way ahead of you Asha. I directed Trav here so he could see the new site. His response was "NICE!". The Furious Angels already have a reputation with most members of the community and some of the dev (Trav, mainly). We do plan on opening a guest/fan site section eventually. That will probably begin when our recruitment ends. If you are going to E3 and you do talk to Trav, it might be worth asking if they need a few members to test the faction structure and that we already have a well organized faction who would be dedicated to testing. Drop my name and he'll what faction you are talking about. Chances are slim, but it's worth a shot, right? Also, see if you can find out how many crewmates a ship in-game allows. 10? 20? 30? That's the biggest adjustment we will have to potentially make.

For Hiko, while your are at E3 could you check out the Warhammer online stand. They have hardly released any info on the site and they are supposed to be giving away alot at E3, so I would REALLY apreciate it if you woudl chance a look.

I really, REALLY, like the t-shirt idea. You can take the new angel/mcode icon and slap it on the front of a t-shirt, and write www.followtheangel.org in big letters across the back. All for less than $15. PR people LOVE it when you pitch their game.

And remember, you can go to the guildwars display and play online with all of us.

I like the t-shirt idea. Only one thing to add to it though. Make sure you write The Matrix Online somewhere on it so that people know we're supporting the game. Otherwise they might just be confused.

The Tshirt idea sounds cool, that would really impress the Devs also.  How cool would it be is the Wachowski bros visited our site and congratulated Tbone and the rest of us, but we need to keep our heads screwed on about it.  We can't get all arrogant and Racist/Sexist/Fascist like the Illuminati apparently are.

Trav has visited the site and knows me and that this is my faction. If you did where a Furious Angels t-shirt, you would be more likely to get his attention. You could have it say something like "The Furious Angels are ready for MxO. Are you?" and have the site address. Major props if ya do it man! We had some other members who live close to that area. I was going to have him and his friends stand in the parking lot (they don't have passes) and hold up signs that were pro-MxO and FA. They will be busy, though. I told Trav about the idea and he cracked up and said it was awesome. In other words, he'd love it if you did it! You know you want to....

I can't believe I forgot this, but can you try and bring a digital camera and get us some exclusive pics?  Make sure you have the devs approval to post them, but those pics would give our site an edge.

if someone hasn't already asked, how much is it going to cost i mean subscription, not the game :) ummm let see another question.....is there going to be level base play or is it going to suck like SWG and letting a newbie of 1 week beat a person playing for 4 months? ok i think thats it lol if i have any other ill let ya know

cool thanks guys. I'll see if I can find Trav and see if I can get him to answer acouple questions, get a few screenshots and talk to him about the Furious Angels :)
Title: MxO and E3
Post by: Anonymous on May 11, 2004, 02:51:43 pm
I hope it's not like SWG...because that might really be frustrating for new users, and it may limit the game to people who are already involved in factions like FA. But at the same time, level based play could also have its downs.

hey guys im back... just got home about an hour ago. I have some pictures and some cool info. I wasnt able to find Travis although I seen him, but he was talking to someone else and then I think I heard him say something about going to a meeting, so I didnt want to bother him. However I was able to talk to a really cool Q&A support guy.

things I found out:

-there will only be 3 classes, hacker, spy and soldier.
-a hacker is the support person in the group, ie. healing, buffs
-a spy is someone who assigns the group targets ( i didnt understand it really)
-all classes can use guns
-the monthly fee hasnt been figured out yet(but did mention it would be competitive compared to other games)
-beta should start in a month and half (yippee!)
-programs can be added and removed very quickly.(meaning if you are unhappy 6months down the road being a spy you can delete all your programs and add soldier programs)
-There will be open PvP from the start

thats all I remember for now, ill update as I remember. :P  OH and another cool thing is, when I mentioned the furious angles to the guys, they were all "oh! that one awesome website!" and he went on to say that even one of the smartest dudes from there office couldnt even figure it out. hehe  I asked if they would be adding factions/guilds into the beta and he said they would be doing that however they couldnt get everyone. :'(

I will add some pictures later today. KEEP AN EYE ON THIS THREAD. :)

Hey man, I got some info for you. I spoke with the art person from Relic, I think his name was Kris, and I cannot remember the other guys name for the life of me >_<. However I spoke with them for like 45minutes. They're awesome dudes. This game looks awesome and I have lots of cool little movies and a few pictures for you. I will upload them later today. :D

This reminds me of the build up to SWG about 2 years ago now. I just prey to god MxO doesnt buckle under pressure and release a half finished bug ridden game. Im sure it wont happen as its happend mulitple times now in this industry, just give them there space, they are on the right track and they will do a good job.
