hey i just wanted to know how many people are we gonna allow in the clan? if we get to many we'll collapse from the clashing personalities. i just wanted to know out of curiosity more than anything.

That is a good question... I think things should start to be winding down until the game begins, or maybe a more selective filter for acceptance?

I think a more selective filter so only those who really want in as time goes on would be good. Also, we should check with all the inactive members (those who have been checked in a long time but have barely any or no posts) and ask them whether they are busy with school or if they just dont really care about being in the Furious Angels.

i think we should decide around how many ships we want and plan accordingly.  100 members = 10 ships, 150 members = 15 ships.  I can't really see more than 11 or 12 ships, but that's just me.  That would be almost equally split between American and Overseas ships, too.

So you are only wanting to recruit overseas people now Cephus?  I think that would make some sense, then we would have an even force split nicely, but I agree with the accepting people idea. Make it harder to get in definatley.

A lot of this is going to depend on the beta.  Hard to know how many we'll need, or what the rate of attrition will be, until we know how many of us have gotten into beta, etc.

I think simply the way the game is likely to be set up, only members who are really dedicated to FA will end up staying. This game is probably going to require a lot of time and eventually people who aren't really into it are just going to fade out.

But as far as the separation of overseas ships and U.S. ships, I think it'd be a good idea to keep the numbers relatively equal, especially because we're dealing with different time zones and different hours of game activity. It'd be a good idea to have a strong force at both ends.

Good point. We probably will be seeing a number of people dropping out/becoming inactive on their own after the game comes out.

Yeah, which will make it easier for us when it comes to weeding the hardcores from the people who are just on for the ride.

Whoa. That is a gigantic sig!

But yes, as I said before... Winding down would be  a good idea... However, Siren brings up a good point about the less dedicated fadign out once the game begins. But, that poses an issue... we dont want to lose half the crew early in the game. We cant cound of having a 1000 members and after a day only have 200... we need to be secure with our numbers.

if we have 1000 members, it wouldnt be a clan. it would be a whole freakin server.

i think a max of 150 would be good. about half will drop out, so well have prob 80-100 members after game starts. Good number, doesnt make clan unpersonal.

I think one hundred people would certainly make a clan impersonal, if this particular one wasn't divided into ships.  I love the idea that one hundred people can be so easily broken down into close-knit groups of ten.  Makes things less intimidating for us newcomers.  And believe you me, that list of names that we're faced with upon acceptance is intimidating.

Around 100 members wouldn't be that bad. I think the Illuminati currently has somewhere around 170 last time I checked. I can only imagine how crazy things must get in their forums and I definitely don't envy whoever's running them.

I love the way this faction is set up, with the ships and all, it is by far the best plan i have ever seen, i personally was not planning to join a faction, or at least until i get a feel for the game, but the nice recrutment process really made me feel like an elite and then haveing small groups in which to socialize with reall hooked me in. but yes i forsee a large drop out rate when the game comes out so personally i think the recruitment should stay in full swing, for now anyway

I'm getting around 10 applications a day. It's very hard to keep up. It's also hard to keep up with adding you guys to ships, so please be patient with that.

;)  hang tight guys.  More ogranization will come once finals are over and Beta starts.  In the meantime make sure everyone is getting confortable with ventrilo, the forums, eachother, info on the game...  Get REALLY aquanted with your crew members, but read as much as you can about the game.

Come beta... we're gunna be a pretty awesome faction.

Betas gonna kick butt when it goes live.  I agree with likwid, we should all get to know each other and read up on the game.

It's gonna help alot when we go in game knowing each other and stuff.

If anybody hasn't already downloaded ventrillo yet, go to the downloads in the programs section.

Ventrillo is pretty fun to get to know each other I'd advise everybody in the clan to get it.  You need a mic but it's not nessecary as ya can use the chat, but a mic would be nice.

Look foward to talkin to ya all and gettin to know ya all.

I was talking about this in anotehr thread, there is gonna be 3 servers at least 1 for europe 1 for the US 1 for australia/china etc...

But i think that we should have an equal number on each server, mayb 75-100 on each, otherwise the FA wouldn't have a big presence on both servers, a very small 1 but not a significant one.

Hm, two servers?  That is going to make things difficult.

not realy we just have the ships on different servers, the games will be the same in general terms, so we can still share information

Thats a great idea, we would be alot stronger if he had a strong but equal presence on all servers

Post by: Anonymous on May 15, 2004, 05:45:28 am
yeah, but there seems not to be the same ammount of US users as there is EU users, mayb we should start advertising the fact that we are on both servers.

where did you read 3 servers being one for each region.  It's never worked that way.  I remember reading 3 servers for different zones...

Not sure.  Could you paste your link to clear the rumor?

Hmmm this is alot of info to deal with all at once....since everyone in college needs time with their testing, I know imahave to take a bit off in june cuz I got finals then, so what we all need to do is just relax and get to know everyoine like aasura and likwid said.  If we have 150 (let's just say) and that divides to 15 ships, if we're talking 10 on each. that'd be around 75 people in america and eu. And we don't really have to have it all with ten, like Niobe right? and ghost? They kicked ass, and they were a team of two. So we can have a captain, that has only one crewmeber, or maybe 5 crewmembers....it doesnt ave to be always 10. And if we need some ppl in asia we can post ooc in mxo that we need some.....

I think that is a good idea but right now we just need to organise ourselves with the cliché "untill the game comes out" for now.  I like the idea of having smaller ships, but there was 3 on the Logos, not trying to sound like a twat..

I also like the idea of having smaller ships, but unfortunately there might be an inherent problem in that. If there's only a few crew members on each ship, that really means everyone will need to be really dedicated to MxO - I don't know what would happen if someone were to take time off or something, which could hurt the rest of the crew and ergo the faction. I'm not sure if that will end up being a problem, as we're still not sure how things will be organized in MxO, but I don't know if we'd want to chance it.
