Non-VR Games / Good News and Bad News.
« on: September 23, 2012, 07:56:37 pm »
So I'm officially back now that I can afford the subscription for SWTOR again. Unfortunately every time I log into swtor I get the blue screen of death. Hopefully I'll get the issue resolved soon In the mean time I picked up GW2 and from my initial impressions it seems really promising so I'll see you guys in game.

So unfortunately I'm going to be canceling my subscription to swtor for the time being. It has nothing to do with the game or this guild but it's just not feasible in my current financial situation. Hopefully I can turn things around fairly soon and get back in the game with the rest of you guys. Until then I wish you all the best of luck. I'll still be around the forums and on TS on occasion.

So long story short and without going into too much detail I have a lot of things going on in my personal life right now. My g/f is having some major issues with her family and got thrown out so that is going to be my priority for now. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on soon.

General / Get your Tauntauns here! Fresh off the grill! Oh and GW 2
« on: April 11, 2012, 06:51:09 pm »
So I'm starting a new thread to give out the tauntaun codes and GW2 beta keys. Rules are simple. Everything is first come first serve. I should have enough Tauntaun keys for everyone but I only was able to get 6 GW2 beta keys. Now I was going to keep one for myself but I figured my time in SWTOR is limited enough and I didn't want to take my focus away from it.

Alright ladies and gentleman let the free for all bloodbath begin! err I mean keep it civil.

Oh almost forgot... here are the instructions for the Tauntaun key...

1) Visit https://account.swtor.com/user/codes
2) Login or create a swtor.com account
3) Click the "Enter a code" button
4) Enter your code and click the "continue" button
5) Follow the on-screen instructions to access your mini pet

And here are the instructions for the GW 2 Beta keys...

To use one of these serial codes, go to register.guildwars2.com on April, 10 2012 or later. and follow the follow the instructions there. For help, contact customer support at https://support.guildwars2.com.

Subject says it all... I'll be at PAX all weekend. If any of the angels want to meet up let me know. Maybe we can kick some ass and take some names at some of the tournaments.

Just noticed I was added to the inactive user group. Just wanted to let you guys know I'm still around and playing the game when I can. Unfortunately life has been a bit hectic lately. Work has been a pain and I have a few weddings coming up one of which is my g/f's sister so needless to say thats taking up a good chunk of time as well.

« on: January 05, 2012, 05:23:01 pm »

So apparently TS has partnered up with these guys to make a really cool in game tool called overwolf. For those of you from the Mxo days it's like teamspeak overlay on steroids.

http://www.overwolf.com/

edit: apparently SWTOR isn't on their list of supported games yet but they are working on it and hopefully will be soon. This looks like a great tool for the guild in general.

Non-VR Games / No active subscription error...
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:37:51 pm »
So I was preloading the swtor client and everything was going just fine but I suddenly have an error which states that "There is currently no active subscription on this account. Activate your account here." Which gives me a link to my account page on swtor.com. I've looked through my account page and cant find anything to "activate" my subscription. My preorder and preorder codes are registered so I don't understand what the problem here is.

Off Topic / Cruise Vacation from Hell
« on: April 14, 2011, 04:29:57 pm »
So I just got back from a 5 night cruise out of New Jersey to Bermuda on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas. I will tell you one thing. I am never going on a cruise out of New Jersey again. It was bad enough being surrounded by Jersey Shore clones... I swear I saw at least 3 different snookies.  That however was not the worst part.

First day was going great beside being surrounded by The Situation and Snookie wannabes. I had a few beers and a cocktail during the course of the day. Eased off during dinner and had a coffee afterward at the show cause I knew I was going to the club later that night.

Before going to the club I hit up the casino and had about 2 beers.  Lost about 60 bucks and called it quits. I make my way to the club and there is a decent sized crowd there and better yet only 50% of them were JS clones. So I make my way around to the bar and order a rum and coke. After that 2 more beers and chatting up various ppl at the club.

Now at one point I meet some kids from New York and there's a really cute girl with them. So of course I start chatting her up. Made sure she wasn't with a b/f. After getting really flirty with her one of her male friends that was with her order us both a drink. Something with tequila not sure. I unfortunately wasn't paying much attention to where the drink was coming from instead of coming straight from the bartender it was brought over by her friend.

Now after getting the idea that the girl wasn't that into me I said goodbye and moved along to some other people. I started chatting up this cute black girl and that's the last thing I remember. Next thing I know I'm waking up in the infirmary of the ship. Now before I blacked out I was not drunk I felt moderately buzzed. I felt a little funny when I went over to talk to the other group of girls but thats about it.

So I wake up completely out of it. Apparently I ripped my IV out. and shoot straight up in bed like wtf happened where the hell am I. The nurse and my father came in and start telling me that I got extremely drunk ended up on the wrong floor passing out in the hallway and banging my head of a railing. They ended up giving me two stitches in my forehead from that. Now I'm like wtf I didn't drink that much how could this have happened. Now at this point I am just really out of it not drunk but feeling really odd and loopy. I stayed awake to answer the nurses and doctors questions then passed out again.

Next day I wake up and get called down to security. They give me their story telling me I was extremely intoxicated, the security cameras show me slamming back and forth into the walls down the hallway. I'll say this right now... with what I drank there is no way I could of been that intoxicated and I told them this. They basically said they didn't believe me and they believe that I just could not handle my liquor. I try to explain the whole ordeal to them. They just wont listen and decide the cut me off from buying any type of booze for the rest of the trip.

Another thing with the being disoriented and not being able to walk... on St Patty's day I drank a bottle of Jager and a 6 pack and was still on my feet. So someone must of slipped something in my drink. I know myself and my limits and there is no way that I was just that drunk. Now this really pisses me off that they wrote off the idea of me being slipped something so easily and I wonder if it would have been the same if I were a woman.

In the end I think they would write anyone off as just drunk to escape the liability of this type of thing happening to people on their ships. Now what really pisses me off is if they were so easily dismissive of me on the first day then God only knows if any woman were slipped something and suffered a worse fate than mine.

By the end of the cruise however I did end up meeting some decent people. A pair of twins from Penn who after hearing my story and how I couldn't drink for the entirety of the cruise were buying me booze every opportunity they got lol and a rather gorgeous black girl from NY who... well lets just say she ended up in my cabin the last couple nights.  So on the bright side I'm ok and not seriously hurt and the last few nights of my vacation were actually quite good. But I'm still never taking a cruise out of Jersey again. If I see someone fist pump one more time I'm gonna scream.

Non-VR Games / FA Raiding System
« on: March 29, 2011, 01:51:32 pm »
So I've been thinking about this recently. It seems pretty apparent that SWTOR is going to have a much heavier raiding element than MXO. Now I think it would be prudent that we start working on a system for distribution of loot from these raids. It was a little bit easier for us to manage in MXO cause we'd just camp whatever boss would drop the uber leet gears. lol However I have a feeling if SWTOR is going to model raiding after other MMOs we will see certain dungeons with a lock out of up to a week. Now I brought this up last night in TS and got some good suggestion and I've also been doing some research online about various systems. I'll list this stuff here for you guys to look over, comment on and make your own suggestions.

DKP(Dragon Kill Points) - This is by far the most common method I've found. Basically you set up a system where the more raids you participate in the more points you accumulate. Then you are free to spend said points on various loot that was picked up during the raid.

Pros-  Very easy to set up. Likely we will see a form of this on the SWTOR guild site in the future. Fair system in terms of earning what you get.

Cons- Can cause drama. Hording points becomes an issue. Can lead to having 1 uber dude with all the best equipment and 6 other mediocre. Only the most active members would have a real shot at loot and those who can only raid once in a while may be left in the dust.

Additional Notes- It has been mentioned that we could add a decay system to points to prevent hording.

Loot Council - This is a system where in a group of officers of the guild would form a council to vote on and decide who gets what loot. Most commonly they are decided either by making an argument to the council or random rolls between 1-100.

Pros- Extremely easy to set up. No extra web design or programming.

Cons- Drama can come of decisions by the council that may be seen as unfair or playing favorites.

Suicide Kings - This system is set up as a list of members ranked according to attendance. The higher they are on the list the more priority they have on a piece of loot that drops. Once they take a piece of loot they are "suicided" and moved back to the bottom of the list.

Pros- A fair system for those who attend a lot of raids, easy to set up.

Cons- Again faced with the problem of having those who can't make every raid left behind those who can attend a lot.

EPGP(Effort Points/Gear Points - The way this system is set up is you earn effort points for attending raids. Now every time you gain a new item from these raids it raises your gear points. Now you take your EP and divide it by your GP and that gives you your priority on the list.  Now there is also a 10% weekly decay on EP and GP which gives others a chance to get items but does not reduce your PR.

Pros- Very fair system, everyone is on equal ground and has a chance to get the items they want. No one person can pull ahead of the group.

Cons- May be a pain to design and program.

FA "Socialistic" Distribution System- So it was brought up last night that perhaps we could look into making a system that distributes loot based entirely on need. It would have to take into account everyone's stats and be able to list priority based entirely on what their gear or stats are.

Pros- Would work well for the greater good of the guild. IE everyone is has some decent gear rather than a handful having all the best.

Cons- May be difficult to set up and to keep track of member stats accurately.

Side note- We risk cold war with capitalist imperialist pig dogs... =p

So those seem to be the top loot systems out there right now. Please if you can list off any more feel free to do so. Also if you have anything to add your input is always wanted.

Off Topic / Crazy New Years...
« on: January 02, 2011, 03:08:54 pm »
So I ended up at an old high school friends house for New Years this year. We kept it pretty low key just a few of our friends, her sisters friends and her parents. It was a pretty good time... until around midnight. So this guy walks up to the porch. He was sweating profusely was dressed in a trench coat and a cowboy hat. No one in the house knows who he is but he starts asking us for a ride to the subway station in the town next to ours. We tell him no and that we are all staying in for the night because we were all drinking.

So at this point he walks into the house uninvited and I notice he has one hand behind his back in his trench coat. If that wasn't enough to know something was gravely wrong my friends two pit bulls which are complete sweethearts start growling at this guy. Well he starts talking to my friends sister saying he knows her from Hull High School. She doesn't know him she went to Weymouth High with us. At this point he brings his arm around and we see he's holding a sawed off double barrel shotgun. My friends step dad, my friends sister, her boyfriend and I all immediately jump on the guy. Tim, the step father starts beating the living hell out of the guy. I go for the barrel of the shotgun and point it away from everyone else. When we got him down to the ground I knelt down on his wrist and yank the gun from his hands. Tim continued beating this guy until the cops show up about 3-4 mins later.

Apparently this guy is some meth head who's ex wife lives down the street with their kids. Goes by Mike the Cowboy hence the getup. The court date is tomorrow so we will likely find out more details then. I'm just incredibly grateful no one got hurt, if that gun ever went off it would of taken out the entire room. Weirdest part of the whole thing was I told my friend a few days earlier about a dream I had where someone pulled a gun on my friends and I had to wrestle the gun out of their hands.

I just wanted to share this story with you guys and let you all know how grateful I am to still be here. This whole thing has left me pretty shaken up. However I do have a new found appreciation for life and it really makes you think about how much you take for granted.

Well, I hope everyone's New Year was not nearly as eventful as mine and please remember what really matters in life. Your family, friends and those you love.

Peace.

General / Call of Duty Black Ops
« on: December 07, 2010, 08:25:58 pm »
So I don't know about anyone else but I can't stop playing this game. In terms of FPS CoD has always been one of the most refined and balanced by far. Now I know there have been other threads about gamer tags and whatnot. However I felt this game deserves a thread of it's own. Now I'm just curious as to how many of the angels play black ops and specifically for the 360. I'm getting sick and tired of playing on my own against teams of players that are grouped together in parties and are actually working as a team where I'm stuck on a team that acts like a chicken with it's head cut off. I would love to try to get a list together of the angels that do play black ops and want to party up and show these kids what real teamwork looks like. So all I ask is if you are on 360 and play black ops please post your gamer tag and let try to get together a couple nights a week and show the Black Ops community what we're made of.

Btw my gamer tag on xbox is DrkSideoftheSol

Off Topic / New kitten! Everyone likes kittens =p
« on: September 27, 2010, 11:01:40 am »

Picked up a new kitten yesterday. Her name is Lilith and she's about 7 weeks old. So far she likes her little paw blanket and sleeps pretty much all the time lol. I have one other cat that's a bit territorial so we're keeping the kitten in my room for now but so far the other cat has been pretty chill with her.
