Staying in Game
« on: December 17, 2011, 02:18:25 pm »
Does anyone know what the time limit is on being AFK while in-game before the system boots you out?  I've had almost no opportunity to get in-game this week because of my busy schedule and the damn 60 minute queues just to play.  I'm looking for a way to get around it by just staying logged in.  Any suggestions or am I just gonna but out-of-luck until they either remove the PopCap or I find more free time?

After some testing I've discovered that after exactly 20 minutes of inactivity you will be logged out of your character but still logged into the server "jung ma".  I have not tested how long you need to remain inactive before it kicks you out completely because I'd like very much not to spend my weekend waiting in the queue.

As for a macro'ing keyboard, the answer is no unfortunately.

Here's what I did today and it worked great.

Take a quarter and place it carefully into your keyboard so that the S and D keys stay pushed in. Your character will run in a circle. I recommend doing this in your ship. This will keep you logged in indefinitely. No more queue!

Good idea but what if you don't have a ship yet?

I made a macro with my Razer Naga that is basically just an autoclicker. If you dont have a Razor Naga you can download auto clicking software.

Uh, play the game for more than five hours =P

I mean, you can do that anywhere, you just may get dirty looks or reported for being a bot or something. I know there's some unused rooms in the Senate building on Coruscant.

Today I'm at work all day, so rather than run in circles for 10 hours, I'm going to try to remote desktop in and start the queue before I get home. Wish me luck!

There is another way to do this without the use of a quarter if you have multiple monitors. With the game in windowed mode, hold down the movement keys, then click out onto a window outside the game. You can then release the keystroke and your char will still be moving.

If you're concerned about suspicious looks.  Being in an instanced area (Story phase or group phase) is a good place to do it.

SWTOR AutoLogin App
For those of you wanting an autologin tool, I created this very quickly (Windows only).
This is the first attempt at the tool and feedback would be appreciated!

Download Now
http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/294693/SWTOR_Login.exe

Using the Tool
Please ensure you have run SWTOR from the computer that will be running the tool.
This tool will not currently work with any security questions or security keys being required.
This will be worked in at a later date if people express this feature.

Use: SWTOR_Login.exe "<Full_SWTOR_dir_with_trailing_slash>" <SWTOR_LOGIN_Password>
e.g: SWTOR_Login.exe "C:\Program File\SWTOR\" mySuperSecretPassword

*Remember to put the trailing slash (\) on the end of your SWTOR directory!
*Remember to enclose the directory name in quotes (")!

How does this help me if I have no remote access?
Set a schedule!
Windows Vista / 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/schedule-a-task
Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308569

You can create a schedule using the guides above.
Set the schedule to run at a specific time you want to login.
Make sure you run the program with the required parameters!

What should I expect to happen
First of all, there are some delays set within the program.
There may be up to 20 seconds at a time where nothing "appears" to happen. These delays are there to take system performance into account.

When the tool is launched using the correct parameters, the following actions will occur:
    Closes any
launcher.exe application to ensure only one instance is running.
Runs launcher.exe from the SWTOR directory.
Waits 20 seconds for the launched display to appear.
Clicks on launcher.
Attempts to read screen to determing if correct section.
Inputs password.
Attempts Login.
Attempts to PLAY.
- Loops for 20 minutes, in case launcher is patching.
[/list]

You will see an R2D2 icon in your system tray.
You can quit the application by right clicking this icon.
The application is otherwise invisible.

PLEASE NOTE - IMPORTANT!
The SWTOR Launcher is a web-client application. As such, the controls (buttons, input boxes) cannot be manipulated as any other normal Windows application could be. To combat this, the mouse cursor has to move on the screen, click on the screen, and send text (password) to the screen. If the mouse/keyboard is used during this period, it could upset the process!
YOUR PASSWORD WILL BE IN PLAIN TEXT AND COULD BE WRITTEN TO THE INCORRECT APPLICATION IF THE PROCESS IS INTERFERED WITH.

Further Details
This tool has been made in AutoIt. In the interests of safety and openness, the AutoIt code for this EXE is shown below.
The AutoIt compiler can be downloaded from: http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/downloads/
You can then compile your own version (so you know the EXE is not doing anything malicious).

I appreciate any code changes/feedback.
This code has been made rather quickly, so there may well be mistakes somewhere. I appreciate your patience when using this tool.

Here is the code.
You can ignore this if you trust my application, or if you have no interest in compiling your own version of this application.
