So I want to create some business cards and stickers for my new blog project but I need a logo! Any of our graphic designers/PS experts wanna gimme a hand for a small (very small) stipend? I'd much rather pay one of you guys to do than go the craigslist route.

So one of my good buddies is on tour with this band Sugarwall... pretty decent music, emo outfits aside. Very tight players, great stage presence. These guys have a large lady following, as well. So you should go. And meet some chicks. And see a great show. And say hi to my friend (the bass player) and have a drink saluting your favorite faction cheerleader.

I have a lot of friends who keep out of SAG and Equity for the exact reason that they won't be able to lower seated shows, but as you said, not moving forward means you're moving backward. It just may take a bit to get you settled into that next tier.

That being said, there's always 99 Equity Waiver shows. Do they have those in DC? The pay is usually crap, but they keep you working. I was doing ONLY EW shows when I was SMing in LA. Sometimes I'd be paid $320/wk and sometimes I'd be paid a $100 stipend for a three month run. It's a gamble.

Here's a solution to get him out of the house:

At Burning Man they have this thing called "Fishing for Ravers" where you take a glow stick and tie fishing line to it, then throw it out onto the playa and wait for a tripping raver to bend down and pick it up. Then you reel it in and see how far they'll follow it before they figure out that what they are chasing isn't actually alive....

So I suggest rigging one up to lure him out of the house where he "accidentally" locks himself out. Or at least, that's what I do when my roomie is on a techno and booze binge, lol.
