I am more excited for the software potential than the hardware. I think Oculus is going to have the hardware covered, while OSVR will be a way for sub-par companies to try and play catch-up.

If Oculus tries to do a walled garden approach for software, though, this could unlock much more content and, down the line, allow third-party hardware to compliment Oculus easier. It sounds similar to what Steam was hoping to do at one point.
