Title: The Fatrix Online
Post by: Tbone on October 08, 2013, 07:58:11 pm
Don't ask me how they plan on doing this, but I got this PM from Woodgrain today:

Quote from: Woodgrain
Hey bud, long time no talk. Wanted to give you a heads up that there are a few of us planning on starting a kickstarter once we have a team assembled. The project will be an MMORPG identical to MxO without the copyright infringements, etc. I know you knew some people passionate about it in FA as well as the game itself and I wanted to give you a heads up in case it was something that interests you or anyone from MxO/FA you still are in contact with.

Let the speculation begin!

I got that Facebook message, too. I don't know how he even knows who I am.

God, people need to give that fucking game a rest. Let it die already.

Ask him how his tattoo is.

Will he be getting a Docile Devil tattoo so it doesn't break copyright?

I would only play that game if Monolith surfaced again and re-released it with CR1. It's done and dusted, that phase is over and it is time to move on to greener pastures.

lol.

Is his name Bryan?  By "a few of us", he means about 6 people from the "Matrix Online" Facebook group.

They took the idea from a group of people who are trying to start a City of Heroes/Villians remake "spiritual successor" called City of Titans, already on Kickstarter.

Dude, how could you possibly play an MXO TYPE game without being obviously Matrix.  They'll get shut down in a second if it even *LOOKS* matrixy.

Shit, if they put a green tint on the screen, more than likely they'll get legal letters.  Ugh.

Instead of a jacking in, you're putting on a Virtual Boy. Make the world red and black and then it's just Virtual Boy Emulator Online!

I kinda want to see what his kickstarter pitch is going to look like...

For academic purposes, obviously. :P

My only question is what does Manic think about all of this?

I think people expect a little more from an MMO these days.  Going backward won't satisfy anyone...... unless they are bringing back the original SWG.  Lol

IMO, MxO was an exception to the rule. I would also point out that it was maybe to only 50k-250k people who would still play if they could to this day.

In all honesty, if it was brought back in it's glory, I would play it. I don't think MxO will ever be knocked off the "Pedestal" for me but for more reasons then just the game itself. The memories, the people I met from the community, and most important the times spent with other Angels.

Even when it was just 4-7 of us against a sea of red, and the game was a complete crap shoot in most cases, FA made the game worth ignoring flaws.

In the end, FA and MxO will always be associated with one another and people will never forget that, non members included.

We are WAY past the point of this dream to bring the Matrix back, but the memory will never die.

Everything that has a beginning, has an end.

MxO had both.

Do not try to reinvent MxO.  That would be impossible.  Instead only try to realize the truth.

There is no MxO market.
