Title: FATV
Post by: Tbone on May 04, 2013, 01:38:54 pm
So yesterday I experimented with Twitch TV and streaming. It wasn't too difficult to figure out. I created the account TboneFA. I found a .."free"... copy of Wirecast 4.2.3 that I can share with anyone.

I was able to stream at 720p with very little drop in performance, though I'm still tweaking to prevent my PvP from suffering. It also captured my TS audio and, with a bit of work, my mic audio as well. Streaming the Rift will probably require quite a bit of tweaking, as dropping below 60fps will not be good.

Anyone else interested in doing some streaming should probably create an account. There seems to be a way to have "editors". I'm assuming this means that several of us could stream from one account, so I may have to set up an official FA channel. Still ironing that out. Streaming my PvP matches while some of you watched on was fun, though.

Free, open source broadcasting software that allows for multiple input devices.

I'll have to take a look at that. Wirecast allows picture-in-picture, lots of transitions and titles, native support with TwitchTV, virtual camera (for Hangout/Skype support), etc.

Twitch also recommends XSplit, which is free and is the most used. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume it also has native Twitch support.

I'd like to get in on this, if you can share the wirecast with me I'd be greatful. I'm glad were getting this off the ground now.

I'll be home in about 30 and I'll upload the file to the General channel in TS. You need to unzip the installation files and install. After that, unzip the patch, put the patch in the directory, and apply the patch. I also suggest running through the tutorial to get familiar with the application.

I also downloaded a program called Wirecast Toolbox to macro shots to hotkeys. You can use this to put in a filler image until you're in game. Then you can switch over to your game feed and easily add in/take away built in shots. For instance, I have one shot that is just the game feed and another that is the game feed with my webcam feed in the bottom corner. I think my most recent broadcast shows me messing around with that.

I'll have to learn it, but I'm ready to get it going.

Did you ever get to post this T? I waited around for about 30 mins or so, but had to run some errands. I never saw anything in General, and other way we might be able to get our hands on the program?

Yes, it's on the file browser. Go to gaming and general in TS, right click the channel, and choose file browser.

Thanks, T.

Edit: I've done everything you said about getting it running. Although it seems for some reason, even with it being in the install directory, the watermark is still present for me. I'm going to assume this is not working as intended.

I've tried to delete and re do it a few times now, same results.

A bit odd honestly, it should be working.

You need to put Patch.exe in the install directory, then double click it. This will bring up a patcher. Click "Patch" or "Apply" (can't remember which) on the bottom right. It should show a message that it was done successfully. If that doesn't work, I have a file that is JUST the patcher that I can share as well. I downloaded both, but afterwards realized that the first file has the patch zipped in with it.

Yeah, I may need the patch by it self. I put the exe in the directory and everything else proper by your instructions, I doubled clicked and all, got the message, it patched, just not working for some odd reason.
