Title: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Post by: Subb on May 01, 2009, 01:25:34 pm
Has anyone else been keeping tabs on this game? It's actually gotten me quite excited. So excited infact that I may purchase the Collectors Edition for £60 which comes with [/geekmode]a lifesize replica of the batarang[/endgeekmode] and some other goodies.

Anyone else excited about the game?

For Brits and other curious about the collectors edition: clicky (http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/9663559/Batman-Arkham-Asylum-Collector-Edition/Product.html)

Yes, I've been watching it pretty closely.  It looks like it should be very good.

I'd like to see if they release a playable demo first, though.

Oh nice!  He did a really badass job voice overing the joker in the animated series back in the day!

Yeah i remember seeing stuff about this.

I like how the game is taking Batman back to his roots with the whole investigative aspect rather than only focusing on the Kick ass-ery that is the Bat.

I've seen this game being advertised, but I haven't read much about the game play or any of the details.

I installed the crack. Game is working so far. Gotta run to work, so didn't get a chance to test save and glide.

LOL @ You.

Played and beat already. :D

Not sure why it matters how quickly you played and beat it before someone else.  Its about the enjoyment of the game.  There have been games that I haven't even picked up until years after they've  come out and still got the same enjoyment as if I would have bought it on release day.

Question:

I purchased the game the day of release for PC.  Is it just me or are you not able to configure/re-configure the controls after you do it the first time?

You know what I hate.  That fucking fight with Ivy.  Reptetive bullshit just to memorize the opponents pattern.  The biggest fight isn't with getting the pattern down, its with your goddamned controls.  I hate "boss fights" like this.  I hate boss fights period.  Any game that I know has boss fights, I do not buy for that very reason.

I think if the tentacles that pound out the vines triggered a little faster it would've made things much more difficult....especially if she could shoot that annoying ball shit and do the vines at the same time.  That would be like old school SNES boss fight hard, which would make kicking her ass that much more satisfying....but alas they made it easy for the new generation of gamers, aka the pussies.

After 3 weeks, I've gone from 6% to 7%. I need more free time!

Pussies?  I eat pussies for breakfast. ;-)

Its not hard.  Its just annoying as shit because all it is is memorizing the pattern which seems very artificially "difficult".

I love the fact that they're spewing out DLC for this game on the PS3... playing as the Joker is such a good laugh.

SPOILER alert for midway through the game:

Ok, so I flipped out at the part where you are walking down the corridor and Batman coughs a little and all of the sudden my video card screws up on me. The whole screen start freezing and glitching up and I was like "sonofa...". Then all the sudden the game restarts itself at the first cinematic and I was like "you have got to be kidding me...it just restarted my entire game???". The fact that I "downloaded" the game didn't help my fears. Then I saw that Joker was driving Batman to the asylum instead of it being the other way around and I was like "F*CK ME! They just f*cked with my head!". And then Joker shoots me at point blank range and it tells me I failed and the tip was to "tilt your mouse to avoid Joker's bullet" and I was like "Wtf...it was a freakin cinematic!" and then Batman bursts out of the grave and I realize that they had f*cked with me AGAIN!

That was pretty awesome...heh.
