I'm trying to log in and getting an error about mismatched protocols or some such shit... I re-run the launcher with the patch check enabled, get patched, go back in... now an error about corrupted files.
Anyone else getting this error? I got in just a few days ago!! I'll be damned if I'm going to reinstall
-
I'll try now destyn! Erm, nope; not for me! But I do know that peeps have been having with their light pool with this patch....
-
I don't think there's been a patch since the holiday hotfix or whatever back in December. I can log in just fine. They have, however, been having weird server problems. Certain areas are always done and the entire game seems to be 5 times as laggy.
-
Ended up uninstalling and reinstalling. Turns out it was a bad patch (each time I tried to get in it woud say "files updated", but it obviously wasn't completing that update). Now I just have to see if it will run on Vista this month...
-
It will, but don't expect it to perform as well. Also you will probably lose the ability to make screenshots. Everytime I take one the jpg or bmp it creates is entirely black. I've checked the MxO forums repeatedly and others who have upgraded to Vista are experiencing the same issue. There are issues with Direct X10 and the game and certain graphics cards but I haven't narrowed down the specific cause yet.
Have fun.

Using CR or retail Yotogi?
-
I'm using the Retail release; Vista Ultimate.
-
Interesting... aside from your presumed discount on the product, what made you choose Ultimate? I am going for Home Premium right now but I keep casting sideways glances at Ultimate. I can't decide if it's worth the extra $100

XP bootleg??? oh wait.. thats me..
-
Sorry but my copy was legal and free. One of the many (in my opinion the only) benefits of being a Microsoft Partner.
Oh and to answer your question, Ultimate was the obvious choice considering all that I do with this computer. It not only is my gaming machine but my homes media server for music pictures and television but also print and file server as well.
-
Yeah I get that Home Premium also does all that... Ultimate only seemed to have a few business functions that I don't think I'd use (I work through a VPN and Premium can accomodate that for me). Do you use the Ultimate features? Sorry for all the questions, but if I'm going to change my order I've only got another 22 days to do it in ;)

well from what I heard mxo is going to release another patch to fix compatability issues with vista.... of course im sure its more harm than good but hey thats how it goes.
-
when will it be available in the shops in north america? I am having a little trouble finding that out.
-
vista will be out here jan 30th
-
I'll have to pick up the free copy from school and let it sit for a year until I attempt to upgrade.
-
I was just gonna dish out 200 and get a copy... btw you can only put this on one computer. Meaning if you buy vista and expect to put it on 3 computers in your house your mistaken. You will have to buy 3 seperate copies... I know it sucks

Here are most of the features that are included with Vista Ultimate that do not show up in Vista Home Premium. I've also noted wheter or not I actually use them.
Image Based Backup: Used
Shadow Copy Backup: Used
Supports Two Processors: Used
Offline Folder Support: Not Used
Windows Fax and Scan: Not Used
Bit Locker Encryption and EFS: Used
Device Driver installation Control: Used
Subsystem for UNIX-based apps: Not Used
Wireless Network Provisioning: Not Used
So Destyn, in my opinion just go ahead and get ultimate. If you don't use all the features that it has right away you can easily uninstall those specific components in the Control Panel so they don't waste system resources. Then one day if it turns out you need stuff like dual processor support or need to encrypt your data you wont have to spend anymore money.
Oh and Pirus; it's called Volume Licensing, look into it. (Activation Not Required)
Also can you show me where MxO's said they will issue a patch for Vista?

Or get a server admin's copy of Vista. Thats what I've been using for XP Pro now for years, never phones home after literally hundreds of installs. :P
