HDMI Question
« on: February 28, 2008, 09:18:29 am »
Does anyone know if there's a Graphics card out there that has HDMI outputs?

Also does anyone know if DVI outputs have the same bandwidth as the video side of HDMI

I'd like to hookup a computer to a HD television and would like the best resolution possible.

Thanks

Most of the 8 series cards by nvidia have HDMI capabilities which means yes DVI converted to HDMI via a connector included in the package.  I think Zotac is the vendor for the nvidia cards that have both hdmi audio and video included in an adaptor. I would recommend a 8800 gt for such a thing.  Not sure about the bandwith though.

But either way I'm looking at having to use a HDMI / DVI converter?  There is no card that has HDMI port built directly onto the card?

From what I've learn HDMI and DVI are the same connection just different connectors. My plan is to buy a large computer monitor at some point and have my Xbox plug into it with a HDMI to DVI connector.

Yes.  No.

There aren't any new video cards that use a straight HDMI connector.  If you want to search for a 7600GS, there were a few made available that had HDMI plugs.
