No I'm not trying to get sleazy referral links, this one's from Carphone Warehouse:

http://www.e2save.com/mobile/phones/disphandset.php?network=o2&handset=SIMONLY&sg=OFSONPS360GB

Get an O2 £50/mo sim-only contract and get a free PS3.  According to the terms of the O2 contract you can downgrade to the next lowest level after 9 months, and then keep lowering every month.  So if you already spend around £30 per month on your phone bill it's not a huge hike to get a free PS3 shortly after launch.  And £40 cashback.

Furthermore, check the little info indicator on the tarrif - it indicates that you can in fact pay £15.99/mo by rebate... not sure how enforceable it is but still worth a try.

So if nothing else you can unlock your phone (get a PAYG chip from your provider if needed then request a PAC for it), use the O2 contract and port your number, and pay £50 for 9 months: £450, still less than the PS3 premium pack and all those free calls/texts/data.

I'm going for it, will let you know if it all goes wrong (can't be worse than the £150/mo I have paid Vodafone this past three months for calls from the US)...

I'm sorry about you guys not having backwards compatibility; or at least not like it should be. That totally sucks. :(

Sony's getting pretty fucked up now-a-days.

Meh, no great shakes to me.  I'd only have one (a free one) for the Blu Ray movies that won't be coming out on HD-DVD.  I still love my 360.

I'm pretty sure backwards compatibility has been fixed for a long time.  That was like the first update patch.  Too bad I'm not in the UK. :( I want a free PS3.
