Title: FA Video Project
Post by: Tbone on January 17, 2005, 03:06:59 pm
I think it's not too early to start on this. What we're thinking of is either a promotional video for the faction or something to go along with the website challenge thingy. A friend of mine in another faction showed me a video that they made, and I will tell you that the potential is endless. I would show it to you, but I can't for obvious reasons. It was a VERY nice video and will be hard to follow up, but MxO lends itself to the cinematics. I've got fraps and Adobe Premiere, so I think I can direct/edit it. I just need ideas. Here's some questions we need answered:

What is the purpose? Promotional or part of the challenge or both?
What is the plot? Is there a plot?
How will we convey meaning without dialogue? Or should we attempt dialogue?
What music should be used? The Furious Angels song?
Who is interested in acting in it?
Does anyone have any skills that they think they can add to the project?

Those are just a few questions to help us get started. Some of you may be wondering how to film - there's no first person mode. Well, the basic methods I have seen are

-sitting down and zooming all the way in. This provides a stationary camera.
-Hyperjump view. This provides certain aereal views that can move (providing fly-bys, etc.)
-Hiding your character behind something. Once again, pretty much stationary.

What about the UI? Well, so far I have seen no way to completely get rid of it. Adobe Premiere may have a way of chopping off the edges of video. If that is possible, I might be able to manually chop it off that a way. No doubt the current setup is tedious, though. My friend said he spend three weeks on the video. With the Constructs down and all us lvl 50s stuck with not much to do, though, I think now might be a good time to attempt something. If for nothing else, to get an idea for the future. Let me hear your feedback!

Sounds like a great idea... And count me in for whatever I can do.  I can work on the storyline, plot, theme idea.  I am fairly adept at coming up with an idea but I do not have the know how of putting it into the computer in any way shape or form.  In fact I have no idea how to even begin to take a video shot in game.  I know that F12 is for screenshots and that is pretty much it   :D

When you say acting...what is it you need us to do?

How odd, I was thinking that doing a video using game clips would be pretty cool a few days ago. The trick would be to have a few awesome fight scenes, maybe some odd pieces of dialoge. I watched a pretty crappy one done in WOW a few days ago, but the principle was sound. Man meets woman, they fall in love, she dies, he kills himself and they meet again in teh spirit world. Now of course I am not suggesting we use this plot, but a movie is a good idea.

well, music wise, I think that some songs we could use are The Halo mjoinder mix, the Furious Angels song, or music from the matrix movies

Part of the challenge?
I don't think it needs to be.  The Path will be able to stand on its own two feet.  Live video would be cool, however, the size is already getting fairly large.

What is the plot? Is there a plot?
Not sure what the goal of it would be.  Recruiting?  Promotion? Or are those one in the same?  I'll let some of the brighter minds ponder this.

The FA song?
Yes, I think it would fit nicely.

Acting?
I think just about everyone would be willing.

Skills?
Hmmm...going back to my After Effects days.  I think I could help with Intro and ending credits, as well as transitions, if needed.  Just got to shake the cobwebs out of that portion of the brain.

UI?
I think this could be done by making the Premier render resolution size just small enough to crop the top, bottom, and sides off.  It would probably be easiest if all sides were decreased equally.  That way you could just center the fraps movie in the middle and not worry about any of the GUI.

Can anyone enlighten me on how to take video in game?

oooo oooo pick me! pick me!! i wanna act! err .... jump around .... on roofs

awesome idea. in light of seeing what is possible, this could be a very real project, and really fun hehe

What is the purpose? Promotional or part of the challenge or both?
i think we should make a video to put on the front page (a link, maybe, to not kill the bandwidth) that is more for promotional things, or so it would seem on the surface. but we can put things in the video that can be parts of the challenge. for example, part of the challenge can consist of a riddle of some sort and the answer is something that was hidden in the background of the video, or even something blatantly obvious. :)

What is the plot? Is there a plot?
i think that we should start using some of the screenshots we have (turning them into video, of course, but we can implement stillframes as well). perhaps it can start with some of the angels surrounding tbone, have some of the angels act as mervs or machinists (maybe desigante a color for each, when editing the video, pause the video and make it look like a computer is giving a readout of the stats of the enemy), coming up around the circle to attack, bight lights, special effects, boom, everyone not in the circle /suicide and lay dead around the circle of angels. this can prove that we stand together and will rise above all opposition. that's just one random idea that popped into my head.

How will we convey meaning without dialogue? Or should we attempt dialogue?
i think the above idea speaks mostly for itself, but we can flash text with motivation things like "never eat soggy waffles" ... wait .... damn, wrong movie. serious motivational things like, perhaps, Bible verses pertaining to angels. whether you are religious or not, angels hold Biblical meaning. one of my favorites is:
"He makes His angels winds,
His servants flames of fire ...
Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet."
(Hebrews 1: 7, 13)
I think we can easily incorporate that into the video.

What music should be used? The Furious Angels song?
that would be awesome, also consider these (mostly chosen for lyrics):
3 Doors Down - Duck and Run
Godsmack - I Stand Alone
Simple Plan - Me Against the World
System of a Down - Chop Suey
POD - Sleeping Awake
Bryan Adams - You Can't Take Me

Who is interested in acting in it?
me me me!!! pick me!! oo oo oo!!! pleeeeez!!! :D

Does anyone have any skills that they think they can add to the project?
hhmmm i just downloaded fraps, and if someone can teach me how to use it, i'm up for that! :)

the only other thing was that, as tbone said, the video we saw took 3 weeks to make, and it was only about 4 minutes long. this would require a lot of time from everyone willing to participate, and TONS of focus and concentration, so keep that in mind as well. this will most likely be tedious and stressful, so be prepared to keep and open mind and hold your patience. :D

Ok, I've messed around and turns out my version of FRAPS was waaay out of date. I downloaded a recent version, but it's a trial. Does anyone have or know where to find a registered version of FRAPS that is 2.5.0 or above?

I'm interested in being an actor.  The only voice, in my opinion, should be you as some sort of narrorator.  Or telling something about the angels, something like that.  Something Mysterious and Morphieusesque.  I wouldnt mind lending a few ideas too if you wanted.  I think it should be some sort of short of the angels freeing a mind, sky shots of a group of 3-4 jumping acorss gaps ..  Then we could go to Debir court and get all of our spies to use agent disguises and surround Tbone or something just for fun :P

I have used fraps on many occassions and made a few videos back in the SWG days. One problem I encounter with this game is my machine, which has a hard drive attack every time I attempt to record something, the framerate drops to single digits. I would gladly help any way I can though, be it acting or plotting.

so were thinking more along the lines of Red Vs Blue kind of video? if its something like that, i'd be totally for it.  im a bored lvl 50 and it'll give me something to do for the last couple weeks im here before im off to italy. yah count me in on acting and voice overs stuff like that.

Broin, you use a 3rd party software like FRAPS to take video. For FRAPS, you simply press F9.

Ok, I've been messing around all day and I've got this test up. It's recorded in half of 1600x1200 then edited w/ Adobe Premiere. It's encoded to wmv to cut down on size. This is a pretty small resolution - I'll increase it, but I was trying to cut the UI out. As you can see, it is a work in progress. I just thought I would share what I have so far. I'll update the file with each new version I get until we get it working right. I need to find a way to get rid of the cursor. My friend said his cursor never showed up during the video...hrmm.

Iris, upgrade your recording software. Mine did that to and I saw I was running fraps 2.0.0. I upgraded to 2.5.1 and now it runs real smooth!

it plays fine in WinAmp for me - you might need to update your codecs or something.   There ought to be some sort of option in Fraps to hide the cursor, I seem to remember something like that.

Messed around with the settings to get it to look better. Uploaded the new versions. Basically, that's at 400x300 and is 3MB and about 30 secs long. Each minute would be 6MB, so 5 minutes would be around 30 megs. Not bad at all. Let me know what ya think.

What is the purpose? Promotional or part of the challenge or both?
We could make two, one that is part of the challenge, and one that is a promo...

What is the plot? Is there a plot?
To show those who seek Zion the truth.

How will we convey meaning without dialogue? Or should we attempt dialogue?
I have a few suggestions. We could have full dialogue throughout (sort of like a fanfilm), we could have dialogue in the intro, or we could just have an announcer that says some things every so often.

What music should be used? The Furious Angels song?
Depends on the whole length and focus. If we're going with lots of dialogue, then we want music that has few lyrics. If we're going with no dialogue, then we want music with lyrics.

Who is interested in acting in it?
I can if I'm needed (as an extra), but I don't really have a desire to make a large presence in it.

Does anyone have any skills that they think they can add to the project?
Umm... I used to edit/produce a news short (about 3 mins or so, and trust me, nailing it down to under 3 minutes isn't fun) at my school, so I could help with editing if you need any help.

Comments:
WMV isn't the best codec. I suggest using AVI, or even MOV (MOV gives the best quality)

Ah, I was wondering what that room in TS was made for. And grim stole my idea for a song. I always thought Chop Suey would do good in a movie about the FA. I've got too much time on my hands.

We could always just make different videos for different purposes. For a promo, for the challenge, it would all help.

I wouldn't mind being an extra either, I'll help in any way I can.

What is the purpose? Promotional or part of the challenge or both?
I say we do a short promotional segment. We can show it before people enter the challenge, for example.

What is the plot? Is there a plot?
I say we should make a short video to show how cool it is to be a FA member. I like Grim's idea of the paused shot of characters + giving readouts of their stats. Simply add action and killing and a cool logo at the end with awesome music and you got yourself an amazing promotional video!

If we wanted to have a plot, we need an evil force. I don't think any of us should pose as a foe and I don't think any of our foes will be willing to be in our video.

How will we convey meaning without dialogue? Or should we attempt dialogue?
Tbone narrator. Something along the lines of his speech during the FA event.

What music should be used? The Furious Angels song?
Electronica! Beautiful. Simply beautiful. You have to listen to the whole song to realize the potential of this genre. I have done my share of short films and videos, and I realized the secret to the great video is the music. Choose the song, and while you listen to the song, you should be able to visualize the video. This video should be able to give you goosebumps; it should make you feel like FA is the force that will change the world.

Check it out. We might be able to take bits from these songs:
http://thefuriousangels.com/music/

Listen to 15 Shine [Full Vocal 12' Mix] and tell me that this song wasn’t made for us :p truly ~

Who is interested in acting in it?
I’d love to volunteer! :) If there’s room.

Does anyone have any skills that they think they can add to the project?
Sound editing (sound forge, cool edit)
Video editing (premiere, downloading FRAPS right now)
Special FX (flash)

We can host the video on www.TheFuriousAngels.com if you don't want it to eat up all the bandwidth of www.FollowTheAngel.org

Ok, great ideas guys. I've updated the test video a bit. I got AP and Grim to act in it and just threw together a quick edited version just to see the different cinematics we're capable of. Forgive me for the poor editing, etc. Just wanted something else to show. Of course, you cannot share this video with anyone. Doing so is a violation of NDA. Thanks!

I live for music...& I agree with Natuan on the music idea...

Dialog = little or no lyrics
Little or No Dialog = lyrics

But to expand on that, I can probably edit some songs if needed, to what extent it will be needed is the question.  I also think that song selection should depend greatly on what it is we've got going on in the video.  We could even use different pieces throughout the video.  That's where editing &/or transitions would be helpful.

I also want to submit my application for Actor...

Post by: Broin on January 18, 2005, 08:56:39 am
Here is my take on this...

What is the purpose?
I think it should be more as a promotional thing that catches the eye and gets everyone interested.  Challenge stuff can always be added later

What is the plot?
Well the theme of the questionaire that I answered for the challenge had a main theme running through it.  It is a theme I see in the F.A.   The theme being where as before we had Neo to protect us all, now we have only ourselves.  Now we must gather our forces against those who were once thought unstoppable, because time is short

How will we convey meaning without dialogue? Or should we attempt dialogue?
The best way is to have no dialogue and let the imagery we use do the speaking.  Maybe a small voice over, or screen text

What music should be used? T
     Definatley the F.A. song

Who is interested in acting in it?
Like who isn't going to be

I have a few ideas... One of them being a shot of Tbone fighting an agent alone and then pan up into the sky and hyperjumping in are dozens of F.A.

I've got more idea but I'm sure we all do

There are alot of things you have to take into account though, and actors have to go through ingame engine actor training school :P  It's tedious - and you cannot go "Oh oh - I Have idea, what if.." every three seconds.  I dont think there should be dialogue, because I'm not sure that it would fit all that well.  I think the idea is to either make it some sort of promo, or a part of the opening site to make people pumped for the FA.  I think Tbone doing his Morphiuesesque voice over during a silent like movie would be the best way to go if we needed dialogue.

Wow...I'm speechless.  Beautiful editing!  From a promotional/recruiting standpoint it is flawless.  There is certain Matrix element to the film, theres a plot, and God, its just BAD ASS!  I would've never thought something like this could be done in this game, and am still dumbfounded on how some of those shots were taken.

If ya'll work on it some more, I'd like to add a suggestion or two...
1. Like someone said before...Bullet time would be awesome-  Perhaps a triple front kick would be appropriate,  machinegun kick (cuz its awesome) or bullet trails.  Of course, the bullet dodging effect in interlock would be the ultimate.
2. Shot-  Would it be possible to have all three of you hj at the same time(camera and 2 fighters)  and get an 'Air HJ' shot?

Regardless, you could be finished with it right now...thats just how good it is.  I never cease to be amazed at the ingenuity of this faction.  MxO should be paying us.

I'd like to make a video that involves more of the entire faction. That video was really just a demo so I could freshen up on my editing skills. While it turned out really well, it only focuses on one person. I think the promotional video should focus on the group as a whole. Of course, with more people, it takes more time and is more tedious, but such is the nature of the project.

Well, sorry for my late input!

yeah I would incorperate some more team work into the current video.  I mean upon first time watching of it, to say the least it has a hell ova lot of potentiall and you could create endless story plots or ideas in making a promo vid for the faction.

But on the topic in getting more of the faction in,  we could show shots of team work or somthing.  Like a spy sneaking up and attacking, then a soldier engaging into kung fu, and in the back somone with guns blazing.. then a hacker buffing them up etc.   If you get the picture, I mean all happening in sequence to show some team work.

On a more long term note, as a continuing RP, we could film 'episodes' of the Chronicles of the Furious Angels...endless possiblities from here...endless work, too.
Title: FA Video Project
Post by: Broin on January 19, 2005, 01:35:55 pm
Here is my idea for a total group video...

Scene:  F.A. member inside a building running up stairs
Cut Scene: SWAT and other police running up stairs
Cut Scene:  F.A. Member stops at a floor looks down (easily accomplished by someone standing below and then being sighted) pull out cell phone and talks
Cut Scene: F.A. Members at a varioius locations in the Matrix recieving phone call (on top of Hypercube, on top of church, inside various buildings, on the street.  Each with a quick look up after the phone call / Some hyperjumping off / etc.)
Cut Scene:  F.A. Member and Swat again running
Cut Scene: Outside of building Agent morphs from a civilian and then looks up/Pan shot running up the side of the building
Cut Scene: F.A. Memeber inside on stairs
Cut Scene: Pan shot running up side of building
Cut Scene: SWAT running up stairs
Cut Scene: Pan shot reaches the top of the building
Cut Scene: Pan to door at top of building bursts open and out runs F.A. Member
Cut Scene: F.A. Member pulls up short
Cut Scene: Camera angle pans around and an Agent stands in front of F.A. Member
Cut Scene: From above SWAT storms out of the door and semi circle surrounds F.A. Member
Cut Scene: F.A. Member pulls out guns and starts shooting at agent
Cut Scene: Agent dodging bullets
Cut Scene: Short combat (F.A. Member wounded)
Cut Scene: Agent steps forward towards F.A. Member
Cut Scene: SWAT team member points up behind agent
Cut Scene: Hyper jumping in from behind agent numerous F.A. Members
Cut Scene: One SWAT member Morphs into Agent
Cut Scene: More F.A. jump in from side of building
Cut Scene: Shotgun barrage on SWAT member from an F.A. Member blowing them backwards step by step.  (I've seen this done before in game and done it myself)
Cut Scene: Another SWAT Morphs into Agent
Cut Scene: More F.A. jump in from last side of building completley ringing in 3-4 Agents
Cut Scene: Pan shot of agents surrounded on all sides by dozens of F.A.
Cut Scene: F.A. members pull out guns and arm them, Shotguns, hand guns, dual hand guns, Dual Subs, etc.
Cut Scene: Combat ensues some F.A. shoot while 2-3 move forward to engage agents in close combat
Cut Scene: Agent pulls out guns One fired from right to left the other from left to right as the third stands at the ready in the middle.  Pan shots fires the agents shooting  (accomplished by having the targeted person run from right to left and the gun fire should follow)
Cut Scene: Two F.A. run up to wounded F.A. and fire like mad at agents, the Two armed F.A. walk back slowly fire and continue backing up as wounded F.A. staggers off
Cut Scene: Close in shot of F.A. Member fighting agent (hopefully we can get some bulletime shots of the fight here with bullets going past the fight.  Should be possible if everyone stands in a circle around the agent and F.A. member targets someone for a duel across the way and just fires from ranged.)
Cut Scene: From above view of battle as three agents are engaged in hand to hand while being fired at at range.

This could go on for sometime....  :D  but is the idea that keeps coming to me... I also think that whatever we do we should leave it as a cliff hanger like the old serial movies in the theatres where you have to come back the following week to see what happens next.  I see this one ending like this

Cut Scene: The Agents are forced backwards as they continue to fire all the while.
Cut Scene:  Suddenly all combat stops as above several black dots hyperjump in, sunlight glaring from  behind them.
Cut Scene: Landing on the roof are several more agents... Get full shot of them landing on then standing up... Pan shot around... Fade to black...

I don't know this is just my thoughts of what I think would make a good F.A. movie and an eye catching for people who see it.  Let me know what you think.

that sounds pretty badass, except for the disguises part. once you enter combat, the disguise is gone, and you can't switch right from disguise to disguise, you go back to being you first, so unless we happen to talk some NPC's into being good little actors, i'm not sure how we could pull off that scene :( it's a good idea, though, perhaps if we had some angels act as police, wearing dark clothing or something, even though it wouldn't give off quite the same illusion. if you notice in the video, when the agent "left" me, i did /jackout, cut to another scene, then back .mood hurt of me normal, because there is no animation when taking off a disguise, only putting it on. so we have those things to think about as well

What if we setup a time that was perfect for everyone to jack in, had everyone line up in a circle with the camera guy in the center of the circle recording a 360 pan of us... eh? eh? =)

Title: Suggestions and sample script
Post by: Anonymous on January 19, 2005, 07:14:26 pm
This is just an example of what I meant.  I'm going to use Tbone's speech as an example.  I would mean the promo/whatever video to be some sort of thingy with Tbone preparing some sort of mysteryesque FA speech to as an overlay.  But if you have ideas, please, instead of throwing in random things while we're trying something else prepare what you want here - and put it in a format that is easy to look at to film. It's a difficult thing, and everybody has to know what they are doing before they begin. As for actors, it would help a great deal if you were to pay attention and try to talk as little as possible and only to ask for direction and it is that you are actually doing.  It would make it simpler for everybody thought if people came in knowing what to do, so it would be  on the writers and director's part to prepare and inform everybody beforehand.

And the peanut gallery, if you are not involved it's best not to talk at all.  We dont need random people acting like jerks saying, "haha nice." or "you're stupid." or, "Hi I'm an egotistical prick who will belittle you and critique everything you do - and whine how I'm not as cool at the same time." while the actors are trying to do things.  So keep the comments, movie suggestions, and all that stuff to yourself.  Do not try and suggest something while the cameraman is trying to set something up.  Wait until after they are done or submit it in the planning stage - not in the middle of the shot.  Just small things that would make everything alot easier and less tedious for everybody.  And without further delay.. here is the little 'example' I wrote out.

SCENE: Matrix Code as side camera scrolls up the side of the Club Deus sign.  Wait until code fades out, and stay on the sign for a minute so you can read it.

SCENE: A low shot of a small group of people approaching the spinning doors with (TWO) [FURIOUS ANGELS] standing [Mood: REGAL] on either side.  Soft techno music  cuts in, quiet at first but slowly louder.  PERSON1 does the BECKON emote at the doorman on the right.

SCENE: Techno music still slowly getting louder.  Side shot from the LEFT DOORMAN's perspective to the RIGHT DOORMAN  pulling out his cellphone.

SCENE: Sam low shot from the begining.  RIGHT DOORMAN shakes hands with PERSON1 and the crowd opens the doors and goes in.  The doors begin to spin and they begin  to walk forward - but before the characters clash with the graphic change to . . .

SCENE: Camera at the far end of the hall tilted down. (ONE) [FURIOUS ANGEL] Standsat the carpet infront of the elevator room. The group WALKS and stops beside the elevator.  PERSON1 does the BECKON emote at the DOORMAN3 - and DOORMAN3 doing the emote POINTLEFT towards the elevator.  PERSON2 opens the doors and waits for PERSON1 and 3 to walk in before going in himself.

SCENE:  Facing the open elevator.  Person1 is standing in left corner, and Person3 in right corner.  Person2 is walking into the elevator.  Stops.  Turns around.  As soon as he is facing the camera - cut scene.  Music is still slowly getting louder.

SCENE: BLAST techno music 100% Camera looking down on the reception area with back to the CLUB DEUS dance floor.  Shots of random extras standing around talking and dancing.

SCENE: Corner of the room, so that the elevator door, corner of the reception desk thing and then a little of the dance floor.  Door slides open and the trio walks out one by one towards the dance floor.

SCENE: Raising camera over a full dancefloor with general direction pointed on stairs where TBONE stands with hands behind back.  FURIOUS ANGEL1-6 stand in [Mood: REGAL] in THREES lining the stairs.

SCENE:  Techno music fades as sky camera lowers down on TBONE's face very close up.  As soon as it rests on his face, the music stops.  FURIOUS ANGELS by ROB DOUGAN (No Lyrics) begins to play softly.

SCENE: Camera raises behind TBONE and focuses on the dance floor.  People stop dancing and look to him.  SPEECH BEGINS.

INTRO
"First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you
for attending the first organized gathering of Zionists inside
of the Matrix since this so-called "peace" began. For those
who don't know who I am, I am Tbone, Commander of the Furious
Angels. I've gathered all of you here tonight for a reason.
As you may have noticed, since the Great Battle for Zion, our
people have turned on each other. No longer are the lines of
war clearly defined."

SCENE: Random rooftop shot.  One AGENT and 2 MACHINISTs.  They look as though they are talking. Camera scrolls across them slowly as TBONE speaks.

MACHINIST
"There are those who would like to abandon reality and settle
for a lie. We've come to call them Machinists. They want
nothing more than to see Zion destroyed so that the Matrix can
continue as a virtual prison for our species."

SCENE: MERV EXPLANATION BEGINS.  Birdseye view of a small alley way. TWO MERVs stand along the wall facing a MALE CLUB GUARD and a FEMALE CLUB GUARD as they walk down the alley.

SCENE: MERV EXPLANATION CONTINUES.  From the perspective of the TWO MERVs, the MALE CLUB GUARD and FEMALE CLUB GUARD walk through the camera.

MEROVINGIAN
"There are also those who have been corrupted by power. Their
greed causes them to put trust in the Merovingian, who fills
their heads full of false promises. We've come to call them
Merovingians. They care for no one else but themselves."

SCENE: Moving shot over THREE ZIONISTS gathered around one of those burning barrels. Stops moving when TBONE says ZIONISTS."

ZIONIST
"Luckily, however, not everyone has been corrupted by the power
that the Matrix offers. There are those who fight for the
common good of everyone. They fight for Truth and the end of
slavery. They are untainted by the illusions of the mind, and
thus will not fail. They have come to be called Zionists."

SCENE: back to view where camera is behind TBONE and TBONE is facing the crowd.

ZIONIST
"and WE are those people."

SCENE: Camera slides through the people, looking at each one in passing. Looking at their faces.  Lots of different subSCENES, enough people to fill the speakingparts.

BROTHERSINARMS
"Look around you. You are surrounded by your brothers and
sisters - those who fight for Zion. We may each have our own
personal reasons for being Zionist, but in the end we are all
fighting for the same cause. Get to know those you are
standing next to - they may make the difference between life
or death, failure or victory, in the future.I'm sure you all
feel it - this "peace" cannot last. It is only a matter of time
before we will all be fighting for our future once again. It is
important to learn as much as you can during this time."

SCENE: Aerial view of each of the construct entrances, with enough time to fill the speaking parts.

CONSTRUCTS
"We have learned of parts of the Matrix that possess great power -
a place where the code is more vulnerable. These "pocket worlds"
are previous versions of the Matrix, accessible only to those who
know the secrets of their location. I encourage each of you to seek
out these "Constructs", for our enemies are aware of them as well.
If a battle for the secrets of the Matrix were to take place, they
would take place there. "

SCENE: Moving Aerial view of the club, and subshots of random panning
buildings.  Enough to fill the speech time. FURIOUS ANGELS by ROB DOUGAN (No Lyrics)  begins to die out, and soft Techno begins to play back in about midway through the CLOSING.

CLOSING
"Despite the trials that await us, we have accomplished more
than our predecesors could have ever imagined, and for this,
there is great cause for celebration! In the past, a gathering
of this magnitude would never be possible! I encourage all of
you to appreciate the present while it lasts and get to know
your fellow Zionists! There is no more reason to be afraid! If
we were not meant to succeed, we would have failed long ago!"

SCENE: TECHNO is BLARING at 100% again. Shot of front of TBONE, throws his fist up as he finishes.  Screen blacks out after he is done talking.

FINISH
"May we all fight hard AND celebrate hard for Zion!"

End.

------------

Then after you have something like that posted, you converse with other people about good spots if you havent CLEARLY defined them in the script. And then you talk about people about what mechanics would be best to present the tale as best as possible.  Make changes to the script, make it more descriptive and clear, THEN you begin to cast the different parts instead of broadcasting over TS "Ok - who wants to be the swat guys?"

These are just suggestions for when we actually get to making the real stuff.  It's tedious and if we want to do it well we have to be organized and all that good stuff.  Then the Director just takes the people involved in a scene and drags them into filming and goes to town.  That's that.  The story I wrote is a little vague.  The real one(s) that you suggest and make should be ALOT more descriptive to make things easier for everybody in the end.

So remember, keep all your comments to yourself - and all the things that you think would make cool scenes until after filming is done - or post them all on the forums.  It would take the annoyance and stress out of everybody's day..

It would probably be more fitting if the 6 other FA members in the video were captians. I mean, they are Tbone's right hand men are they not?

Rather irellevent as it is an example, and as everybody in FA looks the same and you would only see them for a few seconds at a time.  Anybody can be the actor for anything :P

I can act, and am experienced in video editing. I am familiar with Premiere and Final Cut Pro (Though I can only use it from school). I can also do some minor sound work, if need be. If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to shoot me an email, tell, or what have you and I will do all that I can

As far as acting goes, I have many disguises on me that I can use. So if you need a actor, such as a swat guard, enforcer, or agent, etc., please feel free to contact me. I'll help out in anyway I can.  :)

Tbone, I would love to take part in this project. My skills are limited to writing, so I could be immensely involded in designing the plot and music score.

Ideas:

A series of videos should be featured, each specializing with a  particular motive. (Recuirtment, FA Introduction, ect.)

FA Introduction

perhaps a 5 to 10 minute introduction with an orignal story heres a rough idea:

Plot Matrix Code revealing an empty hallway. Suddenly a door swings open and a FA member runs out followed by an Agent. The Agent and FA member exchange fire and continue the chase to the top of the building. Agent fires on FA and they hyperjump over a few buildings until FA member hides behind a roof toop entrance. FA member contacts the rest of the Furious Angels and recieves a location to Abush the Agent. The chase continues throughout the street with various people turning into the Agents in an effort to cut off the FA member.

Eventually the FA member comes to a warehouse, turns and faces the Agents. (Perhaps 3?) They exchange a short dialouge. Suddenly from all areas Furious Angels descend on the Agents and defeat them in an battle.

The Furious Angels Logo Appears

Credits

Recruitment Idea to come soon.

Let me know what everyone thinks about this idea if it is doable.

Can we please get some ideas without Agents. Disguises disappear in combat, so Agents only work in very short, non-combat scenes. We need a new nemesis. In the demo video, you see the enemy is someone working with an Agent - it is an assumed Machinist.
Title: FA Video Project
Post by: Anonymous on January 22, 2005, 02:07:21 pm
Tbone, Francesca's idea is doable...

When you exchange fire between the agent and the FA member, you just zoom into one, watching them fire, but they really fire at an unseen NPC behind the camera.

Destroying agents can be done by using some 1337-h4x0r skills that do an area of radius and hit anything in the affected area, but do upgrades rather than downgrades or damage. Then, once they go off, we can have our fakeagents /suicide.

Currently I'm trying to get a count.

If you have fraps and know how to use it, or If you have skills with editting video material please PM me.  And then if you are one of the actors who can use disguise kits, please PM me also.  We'll set out our resources and then I'll work something up that better explains the process and the rules involved.  If you have ideas, post them in a thread of it's own so it can be discussed invidually.

I was just thinking of a funny promotional video for Furious Angels, introducing the highest-ranking officials in it, done to the theme of Gulligan's Island, with (of course) a Gulligan's Island motif. I think it would be pretty funny, and rather widely accepted just to show the lighter side of the FA. Any thoughts?

That .. is FUCKING SICK man, seriously hardcore. I like that alot, but I think you could add one more hyperjump bit in there maybe is about 1:00 in when you are going up the side of the building you could have someone jumping towards you onto the roof next to you.

Tbone, amazing work man.  Its awesome how much raw talent is in this faction, as well as gameplay know-how.  I have a few suggestions...

1. Like Zink said, if possible turn down, or completely remove the sounds of the furious angels hitting the ground.  It is a loud, abrasive choppy noise.
2. As well as in the church, right before (I think its grim, I dunno) the girl runs away, you can hear a hyper-jump land.  I didn't appear to be part of the plot.
3. Additionally, that quote, or text about the great multitude of angels...almost seems wasted on seeing one angel jump across the sky.  Is it possible to use it when a group of angels is jumping somewhere, or descending on the enemy?

Simply suggestions, and what you've done so far blows my mind.  Thanks for your hard work, commander!

I like the idea we were trying to get the other night of a bunch of us jumping across the moon.   How about we have the shot of the single FA jumping he gets about half way then we all follow after him, that would go more with the qoute/scripture...  I also agree with the points made earlier about some of the sound, and a few of the scenes aren't super smooth in motion, but pretty damn good for an in game video I say.

One other item for the film that could be cool, is someone who is a sniper trying to target someone (tbone, an innocent, etc...) and as they are preparing to take a shot....a multitude of angels decend upon them and they (suicide, beg,  etc..)

Kind of like the angels are able to discern danger and able to respond to it in force to protect others.

about the text, if you are going to quote something, make sure it's quoted correctly and i'd suggest that if we use a Bible verse, we put the verse below it (even if it's tiny enough to barely see).
