http://swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5573787#edit5573787This is really a technical feature, not a gameplay mechanic. Basically, instead of requiring you to precisely mash a button to time the end of a cooldown of a previous ability, we give you a (small) window in which the game accepts button/click input while your previous ability is still executing.
It actually removes the need to closely watch the cooldown bar/UI as you can instead time your button presses with what action you see your character perform on screen (e.g. I'm close to the end of my previous attack, I can now hit the next attack and it will seamlessly execute - I don't have to wait until my character has fully finished his current move). Again, more fluid, more action-y, less vulnerable to latency. So I guess combat is going to be more like KOTOR than expected.

Well, I managed to play through to level 25 on this, but I'm not sure... definately felt I would like it better than WoW, but once I got to Gloamwood, I fell into the tendency of chasing Rifts with the public groups rather than focusing on my 'Kill/Collect X number of Y' quests... I think I actually hit levels 24 and 25 on public quests alone.
It definately looks and plays better than WoW, but I don't know that I could see myself playing it for, say, a year. One of those 'same song, second verse' scenarios, I suppose.

Yeah, I had hoped to pad my '/Played time' at work today, but the 3gb download keeps stalling on me. It's at around 80% right now, though, so maybe if I hold off on taking my lunch for a few hours, I'll actually get in before the day is over.

Yeah, that's a great comparison guide for the visuals. Nice find.

So I was perusing the Guild Forums on SW:TOR this morning, more out of curiosity than anything, to see what kind of RP-oriented guilds would be surfacing. Stumbled across "the faint signal" and have been neglecting my job ever since. Well done and quite addicting. And now that I finally finished it, I can get back to work! Kudos!
