Title: Favorite Games Outside of MxO
Post by: Anonymous on September 27, 2004, 04:25:52 pm
I'm trying to get a feel here guys for the type of games you all are playing.  I think we ought to get together and see what kinds of games we can play together.

Unreal Demo is always fun. So is Americas Army. Other than that I really don't to intense gaming, I'll play GTA  or somthing like that every so often.

My fav. game at the moment is Star Wars Battlefront online and single player.
Also I have taken back into Age empires and mythology.  Empires may be old but I still enjoy it.  I'm also trying to get around to finishing Doom 3 at the moment aswell.

Other than that I give anything and everything ago.  I agree that we should get some more games on the go and play more together.

Well, I havent played battlefront, but my friend has it for pc and Im planning to borrow it from him soon.

The only games I've been playing heavily are......Starocean: Till the End of Time and Fable. Starocean>Fable, but thats just me. Also, I've taken to playing Super Smash Bros. Melee and Goldeneye again. W00t for people who still play nintendo games......

And starcraft owns you all. Too bad I dont......

I have old games right now that I enjoy playing until Halflife 2 and Fable come out. At the moment I play Counter-Strike (not CZ or Source) and other halflife mods like Natural Selection, Day of Defeat, The Ship, Vampire Slayer, and Science and Industry. Also, once the New Age of Wahtod module is finished (a player-created server module for Neverwinter Nights) I'll be playing that, too. Other games I play occasionally include Halo (And Halo: Custom Edition), Tribes: Vengeance Beta, Armies of Exigo Beta, and the old, crappy Aliens vs. Predators 2 demo.

I know, I know...

Battlefront was at 67% when I left work - 2Gbish (ahh I love the Univeristy connection speed)...
other than that the  last thing I was really playing was BFVietnam. But that was a while ago now...
Haven't played any graphical games lately...

haven't found anything worthwhile at the moment... *sighs*

I play earth 2025 online, at work mostly http://games.swirve.com/earth but thats turn based text game country management style. Enjoyable tho (in a clan).

-edit--
oh, other torrent websites for your bookmark:
suprnova.org (of course)
isohunt.com

Newsgroups are easy way to go as well... or IRC of course. Not that I endorse piracy at all. :D If you like a game after you've tested - BUY IT! The box and orig CD looks great on the shelf  :p

I've been playing Golden Sun 1 and 2 for GBA, also Advance Wars 2.   On PC, I just finished Star Wars KOTOR (best RPG ever).  For first person shooters I still play Tactical Ops, the Unreal Tournament mod.  Anyone ever check it out?  I think it would be a good game for us to practice teamwork in combat.  Plus, most of you probably have UT lying around somewhere.

*rantrantrant*we play americas army, not a game thats actually good. Tactical Ops sounds good, but AA has honor. So the 1337 people in the faction can raise that above others heads.

Americas Army occasionally. Morrowind. Steam games at times (Half life, Counter strike etc.). Far Cry.

Morrowind would be the favourite.

And some more patience..

Would you like some patience with that?

Hmmm....one day.

And yeah, Golden Sun rox my sox. If they make A crono trigger remake on the GBA or Nintendo DS, I will pledge my undying loyalty to nintendo.

And yeah, Starocean 3 is long as hell. I've been playing 65 hours and just got to disc 2. Yes, thats disc 2 on a ps2 game. This game is longer than ron jeremy.

I played CoH for a few months. Very fun "casual" game.  The character creation is awesome and its very fun to be a superhero.  That said, the game lacks some depth because you pretty much just get superpowers and beat shit up....No quests, real loot, etc.  That was both good and bad.  It was relaxing, easy to solo in but also good for grouping.

If you want an intense gaming experience, I wouldn't choose CoH.  If you want some casual fun, then its a great choice.

Natural Selection is a superb steam mod.
Ship is an excellent offbeat genre. It's like a mystery thriller sort of thing. Everyone hunts someone and is hunted by someone, and you can't always have weapons out, nor can you kill someone anywhere.

CoH is really fun, i've played it since beta, and only canceled it a couple days ago because i'm in WoW closed beta, and between that and "other betas", there's no more time for CoH.  If you start playing now, by the time MxO comes out, you'll have experienced enough that you can quit and not feel remorse :D

The only other game I really play on-line is Starcraft with my brothers.

I got a copy of Battlefront off Suprnova via BT, but for some reason every time I try to install it, my cpu freezes :)

I need to get another war type game though. Is Rome: Total War any good?

hence why eligoh wouldn't be a very good leader...at least for very long. i play natural selection, DOD, CS, starwars battlefront is fun for a while, but the singleplayer gets boring real fast, and since its pirated, you can;'t play online unless we all connect to a direct server.

Battlefront isnt worth downloading. When it becomes $20, I'll stop asking my friend to let me borrow it and buy it. Not worth wasting your time downloading or spending $50 bucks on. You guys have the thing to occupy yourselves with, and besides, Half ife 2's coming out within the next six months, so hah!

What program do you use to DL torrents? There just just be an option somewhere like "prefs" or "settings." Click it and then you will see "Port Range" where you can set the port numbers. It's pretty easy.

You mean for Rome: Total War?  You need to build the governor's house/pro-council's palace thing .. whatever it is that your city is up to.  It's usually the first one in the list.
