This man appeared on the net about 2000 - 2001.
I found it because of WTC interest back in 2001.
Take it all with a pinch of salt - its just good reading, and will be exposed as fiction or reality in a few months....
He is a time traveller.
He explains there is a big war about 2015. He's from 2035. He basically on the net trying to get a hold of a computer part - probably a good way to do it (not a common part so no shop involvement).
Anyhoo.. He says the beginnings are traced back to a civil war in the US (if you
believe that!) in 2005. Here is an extract (and I remember reading this in 2001):

Real disruptions in world events begin with the destabilization of the West as a result of degrading US foreign policy and consistency. This becomes apparent around 2004 as civil unrest develops near the next presidential election. The Jewish population in Israel is not prepared for a true offensive war. They are prepared for the ultimate defense. Wavering western support for Israel is what gives Israel's neighbors the confidence to attack. The last resort for a defensive Israel and its offensive Arab neighbors is to use weapons of mass destruction. In the grand scheme of things, the war in the Middle East is a part of what's to come, not the cause.

There was actually a discussion about this in the IRC not too long ago - I think it's an entertaining read. But my theories on time travel and stuff make what he says nearly an impossibility. So many people even considering the thought to be serious could very well alter whatever end, even if subconciouslesy.

yeah, the theories on time travel that are available today say backwards travel aint possible...
but then again, there is a way to explain everything we know in the universe without using numbers. A proper way that is well documented and debated by philosphers.... When you take out numbers, maths, equations from our lives, a lot could be possible...

I did some research on this a while back when someone brought it up. It's very fascinating and fun to hypothecise. Technically, nothing can happen in 2005 and he could still be considered true. He said that the reality he comes from is a small percentage different than the reality we live. So, in other words, our civil war may not start until 2015 instead of 2005. His theory prevents him from ever being wrong. He can just say "Well, it was like that in my reality."

Like T-Bone said, he left himself the window to say "Well, it SHOULD have happened this way since our timeworlds are so close!" and if you go back and read many of the answers he gave, they are extremelly vague. In fact, some of them he never even answers while pretending to do so. For instance, he’s asked more then once why he is so obsessed with the Constitution and his response is always something like ”Why? Why SHOULDN’T I be and why shouldn’t you? This is YOUR freedom we are talking about. YOUR liberty. It’s very important.”
Yeah, that's fine and dandy, but you never really answered the question Titor. If you look at many of his answers, he seems to do that a lot. And he really could have solidified his story by making SOME kind of reference to 9/11. I mean even something vague like "Airplanes aren't as safe as you think. You'll see before the year is over." In my mind that is probably his biggest weakness.
But it's certainly an entertaining story. Well worth the read if you have some time, especially all of the cached conversations that were saved from the original message board.

I'd posted before but my post seems to have disappeared.
What I had said was that at the beginning of the 'John's world' selection of posts he claims that there are no income taxes, and near the end someone asks him of he pays income taxes and says yes.
You can search this by doing a ctrl+f and putting taxes in the search field, both comments will show up first.
I think that its odd how he can give such detailed descriptions of things like his 'time machine' but can claim to complete opposites. It really takes away his credibility. He could say that some random event that happen now affected his future world, but this form of cover lets hims say whatever he wants and contradict himself in whatever form.

about a year ago they brought out a laser that had been shown through absolute zero ice that was clocked at going like -1.85 seconds. if i find the article again ill post it.

He should have chosen a more credible forum to post in than the Science Fiction Time Travel forum or whatever it was. That place is full of obsessed people who would really fabricate something like that. Was he looking for "his people" or something?

He was bored, and decided to see if he could get a rise. I dunno though. He said he was leaving, and never posted again. I dont think a person would have enough patience to never post again after seeing that it evolved so far.

he posted on numerous sites, not just the crappy time travel ones but credible institutes, Bell i believe, and also i can't find any of the photos or original posts that JT made, FBI maybe>? i believe in him, i think it would be cool. hell at least he help me prepare for the war.

Yeah, this wasn't just some regular, run-of-the-mill idiot who wanted to fool people. The pure fact that he has never shown back up proves he isn't out to grab attention. His story was well made up and well developed and he over the many, many pages he wrote, he only goofed once or twice.
Still, had he actually been from he future, he could have done much more to prove it.

Hmm...I heard about this story before but had never actually read too much up on it. However Zink, I was under the impression that they had never reached absolute zero, they weren't able to. I had heard of a group of scentists that had attempted to, but was only ably to reach about 2K but never was able to reach zero....
And wouldn't it be technically impossible to shoot a laser through an ice block of absolute zero because isn't that when all matter, all partices stop? So how would the light be able to go through? But then again I'm not too sure if light's particles are able to be stopped by absolute zero, but it's something to ponder..... Very interesting about this guy though.....The thing is though, that he predicted that there would be a war in 2005, and looking at our political climate at current....it wouldn't be as hard as you'd think....
Anywayz if there was a war for Israel, I'd fight for Israel...

I'm not sure about light stopping at Zero K. Matter stops moving because there are bonds holding the atoms together - solid/liquid/gas is all a type of matter, just the BONDs are more free.
Couldn't find an exact answer, but here's an interesting quote:

If light were matter, then surely we could capture it in a container? New torches are out now, light in a box. ;)

It reminds me of a discussion I read about between Einstein and one of his colleagues about the nature of light.
He was asking his friend:
"If light is matter, how can it go through glass ? So it must be some kind of wave.
But then again if light is not matter, how can it be affected by gravitational forces ?" (as Einstein discovered).
I think that currently light is seen as being particles (photons) and waves. I'm not sure how that can be though.
Any theoretical physicist in the room ?

Not really. Trying to figure out what light is makes my head hurt.

Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space.
If this is true, then photons weigh something (although perhaps not measurable correctly using any scale we know), and occupy a small part of space.... right?
The question is, perhaps not only matter is affected by gravity? The gravitational force could have an effect on light waves (although very very small).
Recently, scientists looked at what they think is the edge of the universe - a rough area where stars are born and die in a blink of the eye! Not possible under E=mc2 law... I think they tried to explain it but was a bit flakey... can't find much online about it :(
