I haven't seen a topic on this yet, so I thought I'd go out and ask.  How does the whole AIM system work in-game?  I have no idea what to do with it.  Has it not been implemented yet?  Am I just really stupid?  What's the story behind the in-game AIM system?

To log on to your MxO account using an external AIM client, first you must install AIM on your PC. You can get a free copy of the client from www.aim.com. (You don’t need the external AIM client to use chat in MxO.)

Once you have AIM installed on your PC, log in using the following:

    Screen Name: <charactername>@thematrixonline.com

    Password: <your MxO log on password>

Note: While your password is the same one used to log on to the game, the Screen Name uses your character’s name—not your MxO log on account.

does the game actually have to be up for it to work, becuase I just tried signing in and got some sort of error I've never seen before

yeah, what do you put your username as? I put the whole ozari@thematrixonline.com thingy on it, and it also gave me an error...

I tried putting my username as MarcWhite@thematrixonline.com   which is my beta login name, so I have absolutely no idea

If you did it today it might not work because of the character wipe, but I  don't know because it's working fine for me.

My screename is cyanfire@thematrixonline.com and it works just fine, I'm logged on right now. You can try messaging me to check.

You want to use (CHARACTER'S NAME)@TheMatrixOnline.com not (LOGIN NAME)@TheMatrixOnline.com

There are guides on the site on how to combine your screenames and stuff also.

I guess the beta servers have to be up for this to work because I get a "service is temporarily unavailable" error when I try to sign in to AIM with my MxO screenname.  When I use a non-MxO screenname, I can sign in without any problem.

I know I have a correct screenname and password because when I put an incorrect screen name or password I get a message telling me that the screen name or password is incorrect.

Anyways, I'll try again when the server is up.

Actually, the reason why you can't connect is probably because they've wiped all our characters. Acidic logs on his beta account when its down all the time.

Just try again after you recreate your character.
