This gets played on tv over the pond every so often, I'm about to buy the dvd having just watched through some of them again. As it is an America producion I was wondering if it gets a lot of merit over in the US, how critically acclaimed it is and if it is that popular or well-known. It's such an amazing series, and the episode where they find the concentration camp is in my eyes one of the most stirring and powerful scenes in cinematography ever.

I feel priviledged to tell you it gets great acclaim here in America. It is now being repeated on the History Channel, as it IS history. Band of Brothers is awesome! I missed only 1 episode of the original playing. I'm know with Spielburg and Tom Hanks making the miniseries, it would be great. I think it's really cool the way interviews with the real members of Easy Co are intersperced in the series. this is a real YOU ARE THERE type of show.

Liek firstborn said, it was well accepted over here in the states and won quite a few awards in fact. I didn't have HBO when it originally aired, but last spring I caught all the episodes when The History Channel broadcast them over a two week period. It really was one of the best WWII "movies," or whatever you might want to call it, I've ever seen

Cool, I'm glad it gets the credit it deserves :)

Why don't you like it Zink? (Yer bastard!)
-
thought it was stupid, came out with all the thin red line, saving private ryan, blackhawk down....just a show of the times, i didn't like it :)

Don't hate them because they're good. Hate them because they took your idea.
-
Dont hate, discriminate.
-
hahahahaha

did you watch the show Zink? I know I had the same opinion about Equilibrium when it came out, because it looked like a matrix knockoff but I finally saw it last month and it's AWESOME.
As for Band of Brothers, I watched the whole series when they played it on the History channel, and it's one of the best shows i've ever seen. They played every episode over a full day, it was great to see it in its entirety (regardless of how much my ass hurt from sitting and watching it all day)

Lol 10 hour tv watching session, that must have almost killed you, that's not even including adverts. Oh, I mean commericals.

Unfortunately, I've never even heard of it. I live a sheltered life. My kids own the TV, I just pay the bill. If it's not animated, I don't see it...
-
I haven't seen all of them, but the few I did see I enjoyed
-
I unfortunately have not seen any of them. My inital reaction to the series was similar to Zink's, you know, the whole "it's just another WWII production." Anyway, if I ever come across someone that has a few I might watch em. I just never really put forth an effort to track them down. You guys all seem to think they are fantastic, and I very much did enjoy Saving Private Ryan and movies of that genre, so who knows, I'll just have to take a look at em.
