Half Life 2 Officially is supposedly coming out next Tuesday, kind of. Locking the single player till VU stops sitting on it or six months are up.
-
So I suppose I'm gonna have to find somewhere to download this from too huh?
-
No. This is one of the games you buy. Its a disgrace to gaming to torrent or download this in any illegal way.
-
When a game has been in development for over five years, the developers have put theur blood sweat and tears into it to make it the best it possibly can be, you are obliged to buy it. You can pick up a rusty buzz saw blade with an anti-grav gun and hurl it into a mutant zombie to cut him in half for god's sake, how can you not buy it?
-
I will buy it. I'm still unsure whether I will pick up a boxed copy or buy through steam yet, though.
Steam is cheaper, and damn Vivendi don't get my money (if they hold HalfLife2 for any longer than needed I am going to slit their throats. Or something.).
Then again. I want to have a box to admire. Touch, hug and kiss. Booklet to read. I don't see why people like having just the software.
We will see. I really want a box.
OOOH! Looki, looki! What I found!

Plus other oldie avatars. Oh...this reminds me so of the old forums :).
Anyone remeber those avatars?
-
Yeah, there was a huge hype about it, it was a really cool symbol and fitted us perfectly. I used it myself :) Man was that on the old forums? Seems like so long ago now.
-
I know guys, I was just joking, I wouldn't seriously go and just download it. I have more respect for the developers of an undertaking like this than that.
-
preload it here: http://www.steampowered.com/index.php
-
Orasu I would probably still use those if I new where to find them. You should put them in the images gallery if you haven't yet. Oh, and words cannot express my want for HL:2. I will be buying it.
-
Nah...theres nothing important really. Just different versions of the same thing.
But I still have that basic shape, in the form of a sig of mine in a early stage.

Thats why it looks all cropped and stuff, but the shape itself is very usable.
So...use it if you want to.

Yes, and after a game has been in development for that long, delayed, worked on some more, delayed, worked on some mor, delayed, ... yeah, it goes on for a while... anyway, so then you see how they piss off people by making them wait longer and longer making promises they break over and over again.
Downloading halflife for the single player until I get the cash to buy it is my plan. I feel like they owe me that much free time anyway. :P I will be making levels for it though... so, again, I WILL buy it once I get the cash.
Which reminds me... if anyone has any awsome map ideas feel free to throw them my way... I can map pretty much anything that the engine doesn't limit me on. ;)
-
Hehe..a matrix mod.
You don't even have to do any fancy coding for bullet time. You can slow down everything using simple commands.
-
Yeah....this game already owns my soul. I will be buying the collectors edition, as I could care less about day of defeat source. Plus, I get a free shirt. And, instead of the making of halfl ife 2 guide, we get a teaser.
Anyways, I will hunt down and kill Britney Spears if they dont release the game within a month. I dont want to have that thing preloaded looking all pretty. Does anyone know if you buy the retail version will you be able to play the Counter Strike Source and Half Life source?
-
If Vivendi holds back the game for six months like they are legally allowed to do, let us lit torches and attack France! Who's with me?!
-
Oh! I just remembered there's a Matrix-esque mod for Half-life 1! Can't remember it's name, or if it's compatible with Steam, though...
Anyone?
-
Would that be The Specialists?
http://www.specialistsmod.net/
Pretty sure it's steam compitable.
-
Nope. It's heavily influenced by the Matrix, theme-wise. Hardlines for teleportation, similar character models, same dark ambience. I don't think they ever incorporated bullet time. It was much more playable team-wise than the specialists.

I know for sure they said that if you buy Half Life: 2 you get CS: Source for free. You can also buy CS: S seperate if you want.
And on the Half-Life matrix mod. The specialist is the only one that comes to mind, although there was a Counter-strike matrix modification, sort of like wc3 or super hero.

I've obviously played way too many Half-life mods.
After 20 minutes of hard searching, I found the name of the mod, as well as Planet-Half-life's review of it. (Warning: Review is old. http://www.planethalflife.com/features/motw/ex.shtm )
Seems that development was discontinued.
